1) what was your end goal for the artwork 2) what do u want the viewer to feel when they see the piece 3) what does it describe - tell a story 4) be positive about yourself 5) think about the elements -shape, colour etc - unity, harmony, design
The one, overarching message for me was this: people want to connect. You encouraged me that if I apply my genuine feelings during the creation process, somewhere, somehow, I will make connection. Aren't we all hungry for that? ❤
My god, the way you explained everything fluently and right to the point. I loved it. I'm suppose to present my artwork for my final presentation in a few days times, and i didn't know how. And this honestly made it super clear now. Thanks a lot!
This is a really wholesome and inspiring video. I thought maybe the descriptions don't matter. Thought of stopping it. But it inspires me to draw more, imagine and write. Thanks 😊
i feel lucky to have happened upon your channel.Your straight talking with very good points is what I needed. What I still need. Normally my brain clicks off when I hear some artists or curators talk about art. I feel like charlie brown listening to lucy [whaaawaaaa wa waaa] I will now take more notes and go listen to some more of your posts. Thank you
I am showing my painting in public for the first time tonight, and I am deeply nervous about it. I am so concerned I won't impress people, but I also don't want to take myself too seriously. I was thinking I might focus more on the technical side, since that's less vulnerable, but your advice makes sense. I'll just try to be authentic and humble and hope for the best.
weirdhybrid Congratulations! I hope your showing goes well. The fear and anxiety is most of the time 10 times worse in my head than actual reality. You’ll do great!
This vid helped me in some ways but I am not sure how to talk about my art and it’s meaning in complexity when I don’t know it myself. Like most of my art is spontaneous and doesn’t have that level of thought behind it and I don’t know how to incorporate that into it either. I just create art because I enjoy the aesthetic of it rather than it meaning a lot to me...
I made a 3d composition for my design class. My faculty was impressed by my work but they wanted a back story which I didn't have.I only know I just made it. So how should I explain my work.
I think that the main reason to make a presentation of your art is to share a message something wich is very important for you and want to share with the public. The first seconds are crucial for the audience: if you're very 'cachy' and convinced with your attitude, appereace that you have something to say then you got the interest. Otherwhise you can make a nice video and speak about your art, bla bla bla but if is not 'something' special the people will switch the button and look for another. The 'art' is to say less but in fact to impress more. Least this is what I think.
U're just Amazing!!!!!💜thanks a lot for this ! I'm actually kinda Introverted specially when it comes to explain my artworks and when people ask me any the meaning I'm like I don't know! Itdepends on how u see it! Perspectives and stuff 😅 I act weird sometimes
i want to participate in an open call for a museum in my country but you have to write out your concept and i'm just to bad with words, i am good enough and worthy enough to hang my work there, i know that. but i don't have the slightest clue on how to come up with something original and word it out enough so they'll pick me. These tips are a really good guideline, so thank you! i'm just still panicking because i don't know how to talk like i know what i'm doing. I can still enter till 06/20/21 but i don't know how and i'm to scared. Do you have any tips on how to explain a concept? if not that's okay and a big big thank you for these tips you already gave
That's so awesome! Entering your work into shows can be a little intimidating no matter what level you're at. I feel I have the same problem with words. It's a life long issue I've been working on and will continue to work on. ;) I'd recommend keeping things simple and just remember why you created what you did. Write down all the things that come to you and say it from your heart. People will recognize when you're being genuine and sometimes that makes a bigger impact to others even if you use simple words. I used to get down on myself for not using "fancy" words with things like this, but that's okay because words aren't my forte! Get all your ideas down on paper (or computer) and then re-read what you wrote and identify 1-3 main ideas that you can narrow down. If possible, expound on those ideas a little bit by explaining your 'why.' Like, talking about why you decided to create what you did, does it stand for something? Was it a social experiment? Did the materials you used symbolize anything? What does it mean to you? Was there an intention behind what you made? What do you want others to feel when they experience your work? Something that gives me comfort is to remember these 1-3 main ideas that's ready to go in my head so if I have to talk to someone about my work or write it down I have something to say right away. This ended up being super long, I hope it helps! Best wishes!
@@KeziaCarter yes thank you these tips are golden. It has made me a little less anxious. And don't worry about it being long it was everything i needed! Thank you💙
