From the US: at 1:30 we have a regiment of soldiers/vets marching up (what I believe) is Ouelette Avenue in Downtown Windsor coming from Riverside Drive. In the background is the Detroit River and Downtown Detroit...
This sure brings back memories. Used to be a regular viewer of channel 9 back in the day. NIGHTMARE THEATRE on late nite Fridays was something to look forward to. They showed alot of British horror films with an occasional Kaiju film thrown in. Love love love Canada forever.
Im looking for the 1993 or 1994 sign off. My parents always told me theres a shot of me sitting on my dads shoulder as hes walking in the park with the sunset in the background or.something like that. They never recorded it so i dont remember even seeing it
I hope someone has the old CBET 9 Sign Off /Sign on where we get a brief tour of the studio control room with coffee pot and the typing of GOOD NIGHT /GOOD MORNING and the famed "A season to celebrate" instrumental with the "double 9 " logo , that was so cool!
This is CBC Windsor 9 (CBET), With the Effective Radiated Power of 325,000 Watts, I Hoped you Leave your Dial on Windsor 9, Until Later This Morning on CBC Windsor 9 (CBET)!!!?
The first singer is Rita MacNeil, known as Canada's "First Lady of Song," who passed away in April 2013. There is a music video posted for this version of "O Canada," which was apparently made in 1991. Search for "O Canada Foundation 1991-2." Apparently the video was produced to be shown in schools. The choir included some other big names in the Canadian music industry including kd lang, Gino Vannelli, Luba and Murray McLauchlan. Watching the video I thought I recognized Alannah Myles too. I believe this version of "O Canada" was also played during the Freedom Festival Fireworks over the Detroit River throughout the 1990s.
@@christopherbubb2890 This arrangement of "O Canada" was the result of Ross Carlin, who at the time was a morning DJ at a station in Orangeville, Ontario, wanting to play "O Canada" to show support for Canadian troops during the Gulf War, but his station, unbelievably, did not have their own recording of it. So he decided to make one himself; one thing would lead to another, and it turned into a huge show of support on the part of the Canadian recording industry - both English and French - at the time.
@@WPM_in_ATL I know. Since then, I found this piece of CKLW footage, it's their version of Bozo The Clown from the mid 70's... ruclips.net/video/KT-qO6Jupbs/видео.html
I think you're confusing it with Cineplex's Famous Players cinema. Famous People Players, which specializes in black light theater, has been around since 1974 and is still in business
I love Windsor 9 because I can get it on TV from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I grew up with this station.
There's a lot of cable outlets in Michigan and northern Ohio that still carries it!
It's also pick up abc affiliate in Detroit.
The best sign-off ever

The parade @1:32 must be from Veterans Day. I was in Windsor for Canada Day this summer, and no one marched with a British flag at all.
Probably. Remember in Canada, it's called "Remembrance Day" (used by the Commonwealth).

Ironically showing the Ambassador Bridge at "True North Strong and Free" - but Windsor is at the south end of that bridge :-p
It's lovely irony!

Colorado resident and Detroit native here. You're right that was the coolest sign-off
It is actually on RUclips.
This version of O Canada is the one used for performances at the Famous People Players theatre
Video ends at 1:47:57 am
When I stayed up late to watch Formula One on CBC, this was the last thing I saw before going to bed :)

Would you happen to have the sign-off of Channel 9 when it was CKLW-TV?
*****
I'd like to see that.
***** Would be pretty tricky to ind as it became CBET in '75.
Creeper Man 1400 Gaming Thanks for answering.
@@ChristopherSobieniak From the US: 1975 was right around the time the Betamax & later the VHS showed up.

Canadian Broadcasting corporation Société Radio-Canada
@Creeper Man 1400 Gaming: wrong, bozo. It's still there
