The first folk ballad is great -but Bennys Millennium Psalm is haunting. Ylva's lyrics are outstanding. The single cover shows the blackbird singing at dawn ('whithin dawn' being the title of the track)
If you love Emma's voice, check out her vocals on her former band, Garmarna --- a band who plays a fusion of heavy metal and swedish folk music to great and unexpected results.
DarthDavid95 In Sweden there are many different dialects or accents. In the very south, the provinces of Småland, Halland, Blekinge and Skåne, we use a "french" R - in a line from the cities Falkenberg - Jönköping - Oskarshamn. North of this line (most of the country) a "bavarian german" R. If it´s smoother is hard to say. Perhaps it´s so. Triakel comes from the city Östersund in the middle (north) of Sweden.
lol, i've known this song since AGES. but i never realised it. now that i hear this i remember. i live in Switzerland btw i wonder where i could have heard that in my past...
Would be nice having subtitles in English, German, Dutch or Flemish. I think I would learn to understand some more Norsk. Anyway much of these songs remind me some medieval Flemish songs. Thanks a lot.
Reply to sprucetwig22: Thank you very much! You did a great job with the translation. The poetry is of high quality. I appreciate it very much. Thanks again. Emma pronounces the sound of R's much the same as bavarian germans do. I think the sound of R in spoken swedish is a little bit smoother. Am I right?
Du ä -- You are a child that lies on a soil floor. Du fr -- You will freeze if we dont interfere. Du r -- You are touching bodies, hate injustices. Du bj -- You offer lovers mature wine. Du st -- You step out of all empty tombs. Du ä -- You are a wind which says: Spring will come. Du kom -- You come as a refugee over the mountains. Du fö -- You follow us where no one else will reach.
Reply to DarthDavid95 Here below is some kind of translation. Yes, it´s modern Swedish, but the language in the lyric is poetic. So, we don´t use many of the phrases in our daily language.
Så kom du. -- So, you came at last. You were a stranger. En myt -- A myth character Ive heard about. Så må -- So many had painted your pictures. Men d -- But it was beyond the pictures that you came. Vi tr -- We thought that you were useful, for sale. Vi skr -- We wrote your name on our war banners Vi by -- We built cathedrals high towards the sky. Men d -- But you went all the time further down.
could anyone please write a translation of Innan Gryningen into english? I can understand only some isolated phrases. Is this modern swedish language? Thank you. I love this song so much.
Du är -- You are that song about life I forgot. Den sa -- That truth I betrayed day after day. Jag sv -- I betrayed myself, that mirror I was hiding. Bär di -- Wear your vast depths, your facial features. Kom nä -- Come closer. Stay with me. Its getting darker. Och ka -- And perhaps, the light will come back. Ditt li.. -- Your life will carry me. I hear a blackbird. Som sju -- That sings in the hour before dawn.
I am learning Swedish and having the lyrics is great practice! I love the music as well.
i was looking up swedish folk for a laugh and found this, im blown away this is amazing! completly un expected something this cool!
Mycket bra, och mycket medryckande ... Jag kommer förmodligen att lyssna på mer av deras låtar.
Interesting group. Swedish folk music seems to be very rich. Strong melodies and nice voice. Thanks for posting

This is just beautiful, swedish perfectly fits such music! Brilliant, tack!
Super video with a very musical language, I am Italian, we couldn't do any better

The Flower Kings, A.c.t, Opeth, Kaipa, etc...brought me here. It's so beautiful....

@elohism It´s not kletschmermusik.. =.-)
@nelextraordinairy No, problem. Later dude.
VIVA SERBIA!
