Nolan told Mark not to help Titan because Titan was using him. Mark helped anyway. Turned out Nolan was right. Sitting back and letting Mark take his lumps was Nolan's way of giving Mark some "Tough Love".
Titan wasn’t using him - the mission was just to help him take down Machine Head. I’m sure he expected some thugs to show up or something, but he did not expect that level of opposition. When the dust settles, though, he knew he had to duck out to keep his win intact. It wasn’t personal or manipulative. Nolan was wrong, and Titan’s new position will likely wind up being a big boon down the road.
@@alexperry2406 Titan told Invincible he wanted out of crime but Machine Head won't let him. Instead of leaving crime, Titan takes over as the new local Crime Lord. He had it all figured out and Isotope was in on it with him. That is called a lie for personal benefit - a.k.a. he used Mark.
Also the fight between Omniman and battlebeast would probably wipe out the city in collateral. Convincing Battlebeast that earth was full of weaklings was for the best.
@@alexperry2406 Titan was using him. If he had said "I'm gonna take over his operation, but don't worry, I'll be much more ethical about it" Mark wouldn't have helped him. Titan knew that, so he withheld that information. That's manipulation. I like Titan, but let's not lie to ourselves.
The power scale difference in this situation is insane lmao Even with a Mark rage-boost, it's like having a level 5 Pokemon and running into a level 90 right at the start of your adventure.
Amber doesn't know Eve is a superhero. The way they wrote that dialogue can lead people to believe that's the case but they were just being playful with the being too busy/ in such a hurry that it looks like you must be saving the world expression and the fact that Mark and Eve actually go around saving the world. The way Eve responds in particular causes the confusion because she says "Not anymore" out loud but she's more talking to herself than Amber (as her demeanor illustrates).
Looks like Omn-man was right. Titan was using Mark. If he wanted out of crime, he could've left, but now he's a crime lord. And sure, he says he's gonna be better, but he's just using that to make his own life better with his family, through a crime syndicate.
This is one of my favorite episodes because of the twist at the end. They want you to think that Titan is like marvel's Luke Cage because he has unbreakable skin but he's closer to marvel's Tombstone, another character with unbreakable skin.
"Invincible" gets doinked a lot in his own show. Comic readers probably already know how viltrumites work so it's just a guess on my part but I think getting injured is making him stronger in the long run which just makes him even more like gohan/a saiyan.
I haven’t read the comic and haven’t started season 2 yet so I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure the whole thing with with the rock guy at the end wasn’t necessarily a good thing. He did end up using Mark like Omniman said and now HES the crime boss now. Sure he said he’s gonna make ppls lived better but he’s still a criminal which sucks cuz I doubt anyone disliked that character. If someone more knowledgeable wants to correct me feel free
It's so crazy to think that a low level villain like Machine Head had one of the Strongest Characters in the entire Invincible universe to fight for him in Battle Beast! *Battle Beast would beat Omni-Man himself, and yet here he is on payroll like some normal henchman!! Make no mistake, Battle Beast was so many levels above everyone else in that fight, and could have killed everyone there if he wanted* (including Omni-Man if he'd decided to step in)
Oh, I figured out my boyfriend is a superhero, let's not tell him, freak out at him in public for "abandoning me" right after I saw him getting his ass kicked by undead cyborgs, lie to him by omission by not telling him I know he's a superhero and get mad at him for not telling me the biggest secret in his life after a 5-6 month relationship in high school when he hasn't even been a superhero for a full year yet.
Amber truly, truly sucks. But we don't see why until ep 6... and we can't talk about all of it until you finish the season. So yeah, to this point, while you see things from Mark's point of view and totally understand WHY he's not being the best (reliable) boyfriend, it's easy to see things from Amber's point of view and to empathize with her frustration with Mark. To this point, you don't yet know why that's wrong. And the writers really let Mark down by, as Amber rightly said, having his excuses *SUCK*, which when combined with it seeming like he's trying to bribe her with material things like the case and food (the case he got her in 4 was, in my opinion, fine; in that instance he told her ahead of time that he was volunteering, he didn't break plans with her or show up late. It's just that every other time he's shown getting her food, so the totality of it all seems to indicate that he thinks getting her things makes up for showing up late or not at all)... at least they have her, in this one instance, say something about him leaving a note in her locker. Because (again, to this point; we can revisit this in an ep, or three) if he's shown to be thoughtful and generous in spirit WHEN HE'S THERE, but the problem is his unreliability, then you see her dilemma. If it was merely that he was unreliable but also not particularly caring or fun to be around, then you'd have to wonder why she gave him a 2nd - or 3rd, or 4th - chance. And since we pretty much never see them dating, only him being late, the writers have to do some work to show you why she's with him. They did an okay job of it, I think. Oh well.
And also: I really like Rex as a character. (Also, fantastic voice actor. His "Harmonquest' episode was the best.) You're never really on his side but he is a 3-dimensional character with nuance, he isn't just a punching bag. Eve's dad, on the other hand... I feel like it wouldn't have been too hard to make him a character with a little more depth while still being a misogynistic asshole. Like... Rex was right to point out that there should be an age requirement for the new GotG, even though we don't necessarily want to hear it from him, right at that moment, since he *just* cheated on Eve. And because he was an asshole when saying it. (We later learn, the age requirement wouldn't necessarily apply to Monster Girl. But he still had a point.) Whereas Eve's dad... he definitely has a point in wanting his child to have somebody to watch her back. Again, as with the age requirement for the new GotG, it makes sense for a young or inexperienced hero to have a partner. (Invincible is both; despite being invincible - little "i" - he still could use help because simply being tough doesn't make you a particularly helpful hero. While Atom Eve is young; as far as we know, not particularly inexperienced, although we don't know the precise details of when she started hero-ing.) Particularly one who isn't durable like Invincible is (or Immortal, the twins, whatever). It just feels like they went so hard into making him a caricature, I think a lighter touch could've accomplished the same but in a less cartoonish way? I don't know, maybe I'm making too big a deal of it; he's introduced, he sucks, and we move on. But he seems like the only 2-dimensional character in the show. Titan is introduced as a villain but is then given depth; the geologist-powered villain at Mount Rushmore is given some personality beyond "he's evil" too... everybody else seems to have motivation except the dad, who is simply there to be the worst in every way. ALSO here is where we learn what Eve *says* her powers are. Until this point, I thought she just manipulated force fields. In interesting ways, for sure, like using their mass to move her through space in a way that was functionally "flying", but I thought it was just force fields. When she said she changed atoms, I thought... that seems weird, and way too OP. Like, WAY too OP. So I figured she was simplifying things for brevity's sake. We'll return to that next episode.
I mean Titan is not a doctor and doesn’t have access to some high tech medical facility, there was nothing he could’ve done to help after the fight. Especially with Guardians being around to help.
Battle Beast is one of the most brutal, savage and badass comic characters I’ve ever seen. Also I don’t hold any bad blood for Titan at all, he is a good guy deep down, he absolutely will run the city better, and with Machine Head out someone needs to fill the power vacuum so I’d rather it be him. And he never did lie to Invincible, nor did he “use” him. If you were in his position what would you have done?
The fact that Titan didn't have much of a choice (which he did have a choice whethwr to become the nww crime lord or not) didn't make his actions really any better. He still used Mark, got him nearly killed, and then dipped to get out of it scott free.
Battle Beast was in a whole different league of his own. Absolute menace, good thing they were too weak for him to bother sticking around
It’s like black mask hiring doomsday because battle beast is a big deal in small battle that just took place
Battle Beast was defeated by his boredom.
