    A hint is to use blue painters tape to wrap around the boards between each hole to help hold them to gather while you’re drilling. Great looking rack.

    Hey Luke. Great instructional video! I thought of an easier way to cut the 1 3/4” holes. Instead of buying two 1x3s, buy an extra 1x6, draw a line lengthwise down the center, mark and drill the holes where you want them, then cut the 1x6 down the line and you have your two 1x3s. Worked for me.

    I built one of these a couple years ago, it’s not the best. I’m probably going to build one more like this, because if I give my rack any type of movement half the rods fall. Worked great in a garage closet but no in my bedroom haha

    Felt strips glued into half circles (especialy the uppers) would soften the contact point. Posted that half way through before Luke mentioned it. I like his take on it.

    Use a 1x6. Drill holes the. Rip board in half. Much easier.

    Put one of those little 2 hole metal plates on the end , screw it on each end and the boards won't move

    I can't print the PDF, what are the measurements on the holes. It would help if you added the measurements on the PDF

  • @rickyg1150
    @rickyg1150 2 года назад

    I would love to know the angle for the base. Spacing etc. But I would like to say that if you have a table saw this could be a bit easier. instead of 1x3 gat a 1x6 cut your holes and then rip it in half.
    Either way job well done sir.

    wouldn't it had been easier to use a 1x6 drill the holes and then rip it down the middle on a table saw? nice rod rack though

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  3 года назад +1

      Yes... I just don't have a table saw so this was the low-cost route.

    Is it bad to store my rods in a shed?

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  3 года назад +1

      We recommend storing rods in temperature controlled environments to maximize their lifespan (especially if you live near saltwater).

    dont have the tools for something like this. what I did was buy a 50pack of this little plastic grommets and screwed a couple into the stud in the wall. fishing poles clip right in to them.

      Agreed! Should've just drilled holes on a 6in(5.5) first then ripped 1/16th off center(easier to eye the edge of the saw blade)...First time I ripped was with a circular saw; before I purchased a table saw. He even said he had a circular saw. Lol...Also, cedar pickets are cheaper and look fancier.
