  • We are getting SO close to meeting these twins, I for sure have not wrapped my mind around it yet. Like, I know they are coming but it still doesn't feel like two newborn babies are actually less than 5 weeks away from being here. It is such a weird feeling...sometimes I wonder if I would feel that same way if it was just one baby and it's knowing that there's going to be TWO of them that's throwing me off...But doing things like packing our hospital bags certainly makes it feel one step closer and more practical so today I want to share all the things that we have packed for me, hubby, and twinnies!

I suggest bringing a folder for all the the paperwork you get. It’s so nice to have it all in one spot when you get home.

Bring an extra bag for all the hospital freebies! They loaded us up with extra diapers, wipes, pads, formula, etc!!

Perfect bag! I literally brought two outfits and some postpartum underwear, a phone charger, and some movies and travel shower stuff the second time I delivered and that was all I used. The hospital had everything else and I was there for almost a week after delivery so that was nice to not have to bring a bunch of stuff, and then make sure I packed it all before we left.

My favorite thing I brought when I had my daughter (only 8 months ago) was adult diapers like depends. I lived in those for 6 weeks and they were way better than what my hospital provided. Also, ask for as much dermoplast and tucks pads as they will give you. They were the absolute best things for down there care after having a baby.

Looks pretty good! For me the shower was less about sweaty and more about smelling like birth (it's pungent) and getting all the blood/goo off 😂 I was also in the hospital for 4 1/2 days, so I needed a few showers :).
    So exciting!!

I’ve had three preterm babies (36 weeks and 5lb10oz, 35 weeks and 5lb5oz, 32 weeks and 3lb12oz) none of them were even close to being able to wear nb size clothes. My two 5lb-ers were in preemie for about a month and my 32.5 weeker was in preemie until right about her due date. With you having IUGR babies I’d suggest anticipating them being primarily in preemie clothes for the start. My youngest is now 4 weeks adjusted age (so four weeks past her edd) and may finally fit in 0-3 size clothes in the next week (she’s 11 weeks actual age now and just over 9lbs).

We placed an order last week for a round of preemie clothes! Some of our newborn stuff already looked so small to us but we decided we need some true preemie clothes too!

@Heatherfern What size is your Dagne Dover bag?? Yours looks perfect and I need help on sizing. So excited for your twins to arrive and I can’t wait to hear their names!!

    • @HeatherFern

It is the size large and it’s perfect! I really don’t think it’s *that* big even for one baby but especially for twins

What’s the crib you are using for the twins?

You may find that NB size clothes will be huge on them
I found that to be true of newborns less than 7 lbs. You may want to get a few preemie size onsesies and jammies for those first few weeks . Target has some really cute ones made by Carter

That’s a good tip. We have a few zipper onesies that are super teeny for them so I should probably pack a couple to come home in

I can’t believe we already have a hospital bag video! It seems like yesterday that I watched the video of you getting emotional finding out there were two in there!
I’m just curious, for your hospital are there any Covid restrictions you have to deal with? Can Alec leave and come back for anything? Do you have to labor in a mask?

Right?! I remember thinking that this video felt sooo far away when I scheduled them all out and here we are!

I agree with the preemie advice. Even if you go till 37 weeks with babies in the 10th percentile they are the size of a 34 week baby at best. So probably 4 pounds at most. Even if they go to the NICU we tell parents they should bring clothes for the babies. 4 sets each should be enough. Carters has great stuff. Just order on Amazon.
Bring nipple cream! Painful nipples are the worst.
Skip the t-shirt. Only breasfeeding/pumping friendly clothes.

Really good advice!! I'll place an order for a few preemie outfits so we are ready to roll. H&M actually has some super cute preemie stuff too!

If you have a breast pump I totally recommend bringing that I didn’t think I would need it in the hospital and then wished I had it:)

Agreed! Plus the lactation consultant can tell you if you have the right size flanges :)

You may have said it and I just missed it the hospital does give you pads but I would bring some just in case. I had a c section and still bled a lot and wish I had brought my own as well :)

    • @HeatherFern
      @HeatherFern  3 года назад

Yeah I know they will really give you all this stuff but I had enough suggestions to bring my own too just in case that it sold me haha
