you can drop them into google search with the name and the word pronunciation - like Hecate pronunciation - and usually get a list of audio and or video responses - I think you did wll!
I think you did a pretty good job with the pronunciation - at least of the names I know! (Definitely the Greek ones!). Somewhat related, my pet peeve with anything that has to do with translated Greek mythology is that the names are always changed - some are pronounced so differently in English that at times (especially when my English was worse and I was very new to goddesses etc) I had to Google the names to make sure I got them right! Like Hercules in Greek is Ηρακλής (ee-ra-klίs, so I would probably translate it as Heracles) ...or Afrodite in greek is Αφροδίτη (a- fro- δι- ti where δι is pronounced like the article the in front of a vowel - ie "the" egg.I'll use the symbol δι later on for ease). However, the correct English pronunciation seems to be afro(die)ti. Or, Zeus in Greek is (most commonly used) Δίας (δι- as...like the ass that often suits his behaviour! lol) or Ζευς (zephs or zefs). So when I first heard the English pronunciation ...I was like "who?"...I totally understand that this is a broader subject and that it is not the deck creators' fault but at the same time I feel that I should be able to recognize the greek names. Hekate - in greek is Εκάτη (e- kα'- ti) Demeter - is Δήμητρα (δί-mi-tra) so I guess it should be Demetra Artemis - no difference Athena - Αθήνα (Αthi'na) Gaia - is Γαία (ye'-ah where ye is pronounced like the start of yes) Muses - is Μούσες (moo'-ses) Psyche - is Ψυχή (psi - he', where "psi" like in epsilon and "he" is pronounced like the pronoun he, ie "he" is). Tyche - is Τύχη (ti'he - where ti is pronounced like the word tea, and he as see above) Hope that helps...or it may confuse you even more! lol ...Loads of love! xx
Hi Julie! You did a fantastic job with the pronunciation. I too, purchased the book a while ago and then had the deck on preorder. It's a cute deck and you know I don't do cute, but it included the four main Orisa, so how could I resist. While some may overlook this deck because of its prettiness, right now we need something light yet inspiring. Thanks for the walkthrough.
Thank you so much, Queen 💕 I saw that one of the cards was Oya, which of course made me think of you and wonder if this deck would appeal to you despite the cuteness factor. And I couldn't agree more--this deck lifts the spirit, which is much needed for so many of us right now. Hope you're well and safe. 🌹
I had never seen this. It’s quite lovely. I was super impressed at your effort to pronounce the names correctly and thank you for providing their origin as well. 🙏🏻 Sending lots of love your way!, QoSS 💕
It wasn't on my radar either, so I guess there was an upside to my insomnia, LOL. But why oh why do I keep buying oracle decks when I I've told myself I wouldn't? 😅🙈
Ooooh. I don't know much about goddesses and deity pantheons really, but I think the artwork in this deck is so ... endearing. Not my usual style but I really like it! ❤️😊 (and, your reading is better than silent flipthrough any day!)
Awww thanks, Laura! Some of the names are *hard*, haha. Agreed, the artwork is endearing, and the deck and book will teach me a lot about goddesses I didn't know existed. 🌹
Thank you for introducing these lovely ladies. I like this deck because it retains femininity and beauty, and minimises the sexual/sacral chakra usage, so prevalent in other goddess decks. This sacral pull is really inhibitive for teens, who already have body image worries, for older women, who feel past it, and for the average woman who would rather not have impossible images of perfect younger bodies increasing subconscious self-loathing. As Oya's Girl says, this is pretty, and most women are both appreciative and uplifted by prettiness. This is an oracle deck for all ages, and the only card I will not be using is the one with the half skull, as it really brings a downer on the whole uplifting theme.
A lovely video and very beautiful cards, a silent flip through or with music? No, so much nicer to listen to your thoughts and as far as pronunciations ... I'll take your word on these :) I imagine these cards would be ideal as an introduction to Goddess for children too? I'll be taking a closer look at these and the book too. Take good care and thank you for sharing x
Awww thank you so much, Miss Honey 🥰I think that both the cards and book would work as an introduction for kids, with some guidance and translation into plain language coming from the adult. Hope you are well and safe 💖🌹
Miss Honey, after reading more of the Legendary Ladies book, I have to amend what I originally said about it being kid-friendly. There are some sexual references that would need an adult's vetting 😆
@@Peekaboorose OMG I got them so fast, that was surprice I guess I was meant to have them and yes loving them so much, love the book and cards. totally recommend them, thank you for your time and beautiful video ❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏. I make videos myself and I know how much time we spend on them. You are appreciated thank you again 🙏
I stumbled across this deck and was drawn to it! I think this would be a perfect birthday gift for one of my friends who is into female empowerment. And I may get the book as well 💚 Thanks for sharing!
If you know how to pronounce some of these goddesses' names correctly, please drop a comment! I want to learn 💕
