Hello friends!
In today's tutorial we will be making an intermediate macrame keychain. I say intermediate because it's almost entirely diagonal clove hitch knots and I know how tricky those can be when starting out. But don't worry, I've also made a very slow, step by step tutorial on those knots, where I share all of my tips and tricks and how to get them just right! Here is a link to that video:
• HOW TO MAKE PERFECT DI...
Here is a link for the gathering knot:
• Macrame tutorial- Gath...
When the keychain is done it measures 7in/18cm in length, and 1.5in/3.5cm wide.
Here is a link to the exact cord I used:
www.soulfulnotions.ca/product...
Make sure to cut extra cord if you are not using this exact cord as many companies varies drastically in size!
Here is What I used:
-1.25in/3cm swivel clasp keyring (Amazon)
-3mm braided cotton cord cut to 4 x 48in/122cm
I'm also on Instagram @soulful__notions (2 underscores) if you want to show me your work there!

Cute! And a great way to practice diagonal half hitch knots. Not one of my favorites.
There is a video in the description where I give all of my tips and tricks for diagonal clove hitch knots. I used to not enjoy them either, but now I love them! I hope it helps:)
@@soulfulnotions2648 thank you. I don’t understand why my brain fights them so hard. All of the others I’ve done were no problem to learn.

I ❤this keychain u made it in single color n it looks so pretty.
Now i want to make it with 2 colours
Is this look the same in that ? Any tips for that?
I’m happy you like it, thank you so much! As for the 2 colours, I haven’t made it in 2 colours but know that the shape etc won’t change, it will just change the colours which I think may be quite beautiful! ♥️

😍👍👍👍
❤️😊🙏🏼
So beautiful! Is there a way to add a large wooden bead to the middle 'holes' in the design?
Yes I actually have a full tutorial on that! You can find it under the playlist “keychains”. ❤️
Adoro!!
Thank you so much!♥️🫶☺️
OMG than you so. Muchhhhhh AAAAAA ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

❤️😊🙏🏼
Thank you 🙏 what if I wanted to make it longer?
You can cut more cord and keep the pattern going. :)
@@soulfulnotions2648 how do I keep the pattern going? Is it the Same like in the beginning? ☺️
I Like It Very ❤😻
Thank you so much ! 🙂♥️🙏🏼✨
Going to give this a go thankyou for sharing
My pleasure!
@@soulfulnotions2648 I follow your work on instagram too absolutely beautiful.
This is so cute, and your video was perfect. I know you cannot demonstrate or teach the pattern, but can I sell the keychains that I make?
Yes you absolutely can sell the finished keychain, this one is a good seller for me and I hope it is for you too! Thank you for your kind comment, I’m so glad you enjoyed the tutorial!♥️
Would natural cotton colorful twine rope work for this?
I don’t see why not, so long as it is thin like this one, might look a little bit different but I think it should still do the trick:)
@@soulfulnotions2648 okay, thank you for taking the time to respond. 😊❤️
Do you secure the ends of the string so that it does not separate??
This cord doesn’t do that. That’s more for a 3ply rope.
Which thread is used here??
Is it okay to use a thicker or thinner cord than the one in the video?
Yes you can use either! If using a thicker cord make sure to cut extra length because it will use more cord to make the knots!
i'm confused,, so the one rope, is used all the way? is this also called the lead rope? looked at another tutorial and it looked like she kept knotting OVER the same cord. ? is that correct?
Yes that is correct
thanks
You're welcome! :)
Hienoa🥰
❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
Thank you for the tutorial. What do you call this kind of knot? I'm trying to make a bigger project with it. I have been practicing with making the keychains.
double clove hitch knot :)
Thank you @@samanthaa2256 I know that part. But what do you call the “S” or swirl effect? It’s not diamonds.
Which cord did you used and in which size?
I believe it says in both the video and description.
Do you have a link for the keyrings? Cant find them :)
No I don’t!
what type of rope or
Great tutorial! The link to your store isn't working. I used 3mm 3 ply cord & it turned out bulkier than yours...therefore I'm interested in braided cord for making keychains like this
Thank you for letting me know!!! So sorry about that, I’ve changed the link and it now works! So sorry about that!:/
How many mm of rope did you use and how many meters did you cut?
Everything is included not only in the video, but the description as well! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the tutorial. I found I was running out of cord, I used 3mm twisted cotton cord, I measured out the length you suggested, however in your video you had plenty of excess to trim. Hmm, not sure what happened there
Because they are different cords altogether. And every company varies a lot in actual size, welcome to macrame! I always include help with these issues in the description btw!
This happened to me as well! It was very frustrating😂
What is that ring called in which you knitting?
The is a swivel clasp keychain
Which thread you have used
It says right in the video as well as the description. Also there is a direct link to the cord as well!
What type of yarn you use for macramé..?
This is a braided 3mm cord. There is a link in the description:)
@@soulfulnotions2648 thank u
I'd love to see this made into a dog collar!
That would be adorable!
👏👏👍👍🧬🧬
Thank you so much 😊
Does it get dirty? And if so, can we wash it?
I wash mine with warm water and powdered Tide on a cloth, works like a dream:)
@@soulfulnotions2648 ohhh okay thank you🥰
🙌👏😍🌿🥋
What do you call this design?
:D
A keychain.
I mean the macrame itself.
Good day. Im struggling. I've followed your instructions but after 4 times of trying my cords length still isnt right, I cant finish the design because my cord is too short and some of them are too long. What am I doing wrong.
If you are using a different cord, size, type, anything, it makes a difference in the length required.
i couldnt complete this tutorial - first time ive ever not been able to - just cant follow it at all even on the slowest setting - its impossible to get it right
Maybe go find another tutorial that is for absolute beginners or practice the double half hitch knots so it doesn’t confuse you.🤷🏻♀️❤️👍🏼
For me too, i am out after minute 03
I wish this was slowed down more. Especially for someone who is very new to this.
It’s not a beginner project. As mentioned in the description you can slow down videos too. Or check out my beginners playlist, OR go find another channel.
In fact, it says INTERMEDIATE Tutorial right in the title.
Length of the cord is .
Right in the video if you watch it! 🙃
If you r a beginner like me.. I recommend setting the speed on 0.25
Not a beginner pattern as stated clearly in the title.
Le modèle est magnifique mais la vidéo va beaucoup trop vite, impossible de suivre pour une débutante, quel dommage :(
I included how to slow down the video. Also, I never said this was a beginners pattern. It says right in the title it is an intermediate pattern. I have a whole playlist for beginners. Good luck to you!
Je vais voir les autres vidéos pour débutants :)
