Magnificent performance. So elegant. Oh, Ms Dionne Warwick is an Artist's Artist. Her songs are intelligently assorted by being lighthearted, melancholic, and always meaningful. She astonishes me with her enthusiastic vocal singing range that I have heard in many of her songs. ''How many times can we say Goodbye'' and this performance are absolutely extravagant.

So divinely inspired how she kept reinventing her own material with ever-fresh variations in phrasings, inspired and supported by the musical direction. This is great work, and everybody involved should be very proud.

It simply does not get any better than that musically!!! Dionne was at her best in these "Solid Gold" performances. She had a connection with the song, the band, the musicians, the in-studio audience, and the cameras that just came together so well. It is nice to see a good quality sound and video for this song. 1980. This song is outside of space and time. It is a good now as then and does stimulate nostalgia for sure. She had the appearance here of a supermodel singer. Demure mixed with allure. Sweet.

Well you are a sweetheart! And how lovely was her gown there. I would have been in her dressing room looking at all her lovely gowns.. lol. I remember at that time she was always on Blackwell’s list of best dressed celebs at that time.
What a great time I’m history!! No dingy makeup and tattoos everywhere.. just elegance and pure talent. Yes these are treasures!!!!!

A little anecdote about this song. In the early 80’s, I saw her at The Mill Run outside of Chicago. It’s a great theater in the round and the stage revolves. Anyway, between songs a lot of people were shouting out requests. So finally Dionne said: “OK, get it all out of your systems everybody shout out all the songs you’re not going to hear tonight.” And the place got raucous with requests. Some lady shouted ‘Check Out Time’ which was an album cut, a brilliant piece of Warwick/Bacharach/David collaboration and Dionne heard it and asked, “who said ‘Check Out Time? My my.” Anyway, the overwhelming chorus was calling for this song ‘All The Time.” So she said OK let’s do it. Now, you could tell this was not a set up because Joe Kloess (her conductor and piano player for many years) and the orchestra, were frantically searching through their music to find the song. This was not planned. They stopped the stage from revolving and she sat on the steps that lead up to the stage. I was in the third row and those steps were right in front of me and she brought the house down singing this song seated on those steps.

Amazing lovely story moment, but I am lost a bit!! Did sing "All the time" instead of "Check out time" or...? Ms. Dionne can do some real damage when she go live for sure❤ . She is nothing to be played with!!

However, I couldn't afford Memorex, and had to settle for TDK at the time.
