Thank you I am in my fifth week of learning the classical Guitar, Still working on the right hand. One false start with a teacher who wanted to teach me tab notation and strumming. Another wasted week when the teacher went sick. I have had only 1 lesson. Play the piano and saxophone and read classical music notation.
Welcome to our classical guitar world! :-) Guitar technique will always be important in a guitarists live; certainly a good beginning helps a lot to avoid errors and resulting bad habits. Just keep in touch if you have questions or problems to solve. Enjoy your journey!
My right hand is in constant evolution. From Segovia technique (ouch) through all aspects of fiinger picking I have tried everything that comes along. I have decided that every method has problems and the more ty try to make small efficient movements it causes stress that are not efficient. So now my right hand makes grandios showboating affectations that are very fun and makes me feel like Jeff Beck. I was watching Jeff Beck videos after his death and his finger picking tone on steel strings is phenominal so i'm copying his style and that is super fun. He plays with no fingernails and his attack is an upward plucking motion. hard to establish after the failed standard techniques left me playing so badly I was glad to find something... anything to replace the horrible techniques I learned in music schools. Every thing about "classical guitar" technique is a sad poor excuse for how to play badly.
Interesting Odyssey, yours... There are so many ways people play guitar, with small movements, with big ones; with a lot of power or a maximum efficiency. At the end it's the sound and the music that counts. All the best for your evolution! :-)
Put your playing finger in a completely upright position on any surface: when the finger is all around 90° from the surface (Table, wall), the part you should use for playing is in contact. That part should touch the string when playing. - I hope, that answers your question. 🙂
I enjoyed this video, and look forward to watching the rest of them.
Thank you Gary! I'm glad if they are helpfull. 😊

For all those who wish to know. The area where the thumb rotates from is the Basal Carpometacarpal and Scaphotrapeziotrapezoidal Joint. 😎
I would have broken some bone if I had tried to pronounce that...😁 Thanks Liam.
