- Join us as we go behind the scenes of the 3 major roller coasters at Liseberg amusement park located in Gothenburg, Sweden. Our fantastic tour guide Pontus takes us into ride areas, operators cabins and maintenance buildings for a behind the scenes look at Helix, Balder and Lisebergbanan. Along with having the opportunity to learn about the history of the park and these fantastic attractions, we were also asked to sign a section of wood on Balder to commemorate our visit. Pontus and various ride operators also explain the procedures behind the parks main roller coasters along with sharing some fantastic information about the rides.
We'd like to say a huge thank you to Pontus and the operations team at Liseberg for allowing us to take this exclusive tour around the park. We look forward to visiting later this year to experience Valkyria!

This was an awesome experience we had, thanks to Shawn for contacting the park and sorting it out for us ! Pontus was a lovely guy showing us around for over 2hrs
He was fantastic wasn't he! Thanks for a great weekend
Nice to hear they are keeping an eye out for loose objects!
You should go to Stockholm and Gröna lund sometime where you have another Schwarzkopf, Jetline which is a personal favourite together with lisebergsbanan.
I love these European parks that just constantly focus on operations- if they get a ten minute queue they put 5 trains on lisebergbanen! Amazing
lisebergsbanan*
Unnamed gaming 2002 5 trains, how is that possible? 🤯
Benjamin McCann still, thats risky to send out 5 trains. Many 3 train operating coasters have failed and crashes into eachother
@@evengreven5515 nope not really, trains (coaster trains) don’t (or extremely rarely if any) crash in each other due to too many trains. Coasters are divided up into block zones. At the end of each zone (section of track) is a way for the ride to stop completely. Only 1 train can occupy a block zone at a time. If there is a train in the block ahead, the train will stop at the block before (usually causing all other trains to also stop and the ride to be reset or evacuate, depending on the procedures for each ride and the safest way to get everything restarted).|
Some coasters are MADE to have up to 5 trains...but this depends on the track. Not every coaster can have 5 trains, it really depends on how it was designed initially. Disney for example, will frequently have 5 or more trains on their coasters.
So although I wouldn’t say “OMG this park doesn’t have 5 trains operating they should add more”, having more trains doesn’t mean it is more dangerous.
EDIT: I want to also mention the rides where there where incidents that happened, are often for other reasons, such as crew not properly keeping track of the number of coasters used and not properly counting where ALL trains are (this is standard procedure and important to do correctly...etc.) and even those cases are rare in and of themselves
What a nice guy , they seem a friendly staff which is what you want in a park
Pontus is a legend
Awesome video, hope I can make it there someday
i live in sweden actully stockholm and i cant wait for valkyria be done lovely vid
Really interesting! I must admit the tour guild reminded me of Willy Wonka with the umbrella instead of a stick giving you a tour of his 'factory' lol
Pontus was excellent!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide What an incredable tour he gave!
Another great vlog. I don't ride coasters (phobia of heights) but I love seeing all the vlogs. One day I may just pluck up the courage. Great to see Andy and Lisa too.
This is my favourite video from your channel. Awesome behind the scenes view of operations at Liseberg. Everything was immaculate and properly organised. I would feel super safe on all those rides. And Pontus was mega awesome. I love that guy because he was so open and gave you and us viewers a really good tour.
Thanks for watching, the park were fantastic over the weekend and this behind the scenes tour was excellent!
Pontus is a stand up dude thanks for the behind the sense footage of liseland you truly are the man 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for watching!
Back in 1998 they made a children's tvshow about what happens on Liseberg during the winter. Totally fictional but loved it! When the Carousels Sleep. "När karusellerna sover" in swedish.
I love behind the scenes tours
So do we!
Pontus is awesome, what a professional guy,
How exciting it must of been seeing the rides behind the scenes. 😀👍
He was brilliant, thanks for watching
Wow, that's an amazing experience! I really hope the automatic seat restraint system get's implemented on Icon - it would really be useful for lowering queues and making the ride more efficient.
#Pontus is a legend . nice to see Andy getting to backstage stuff as well and i wonder if signed the wood 2
kkrispy2009 P yeah I also signed Balder 👍🏻👍🏻
He did indeed
I rode Helix 15 times last year. If you are going to Liseberg in July-August i recommend buying "PRIO". It costs 50kr more and you'll get access to the park a hour before their opening. Only a few rides will be open like Loke, Helix and and AtmosFear.
Thank you for sharing this information with us!
Theme Park Worldwide No Problem! I am Swedish my self so it was a real treat to find out about this in the first place. I can try to find when its available.
Theme Park Worldwide I just red about it and you”ll be able to be inside the park 09:30-23:00 the offer is available between 7 of July - 12 of August. Beware that you have to book it atleast 5 Days before your visit.
Keep up the good content and tanke care! With love from Sweden.
Thank you for taking us with you backstage Shawn! This is my childhood park and we visit it every summer to this date.
Fantastic Shawn, great to be invited, makes all the hard work doing vlogs worthwhile
It sure does, thanks for the support
Great behind the scenes video, well done Viseberg for the behind the scenes look
Really interesting behind the scenes video, thanks for the upload. Hopefully other parks will think of doing/allowing tours like this because it's great PR, especially if the guide is someone as polite and engaging as Pontus.
Pontus was fantastic, thanks for watching
I have always been interested in this sort of stuff (backstage etc. ) Thanks for uploading this!
No problem, thanks for watching
In the helix maintenance shed how tempting it would be to start stuffing ride parts into a suitcase to take hone then grab one of the seats and run
Awesome footage and thumbs up for Pontus!👍
Fascinating Shawn - what a great opportunity! - Chris
It was indeed, thanks for watching!
Balder, helix, lisebergsbanan, valkyria and Loke is my absolout favs on liseberg

It will be interesting to see how long it stands for!
Really enjoyed this video. So nice of them to take time out & show us around,
He was brilliant, thanks for watching
That was really enjoyable. I'm quite surprised that the guests pushed for the seat belts.
Definitely my favourite channel on theme parks :)
Thank you very much
You're SMASHING it with all these videos lately.
Thank you very much!
Great interesting video. Great to see how much care and effort goes into some of the park’s largest rides.
Liseberg looks amazing, just like you Shawn!
Thank you!
ABSOLUTELY FASCINATING!!!!
Really enjoyed this video, was great to go behind the scenes of some great rides and to also see inside the control rooms.
Really nice of Pontus to give you a tour, what a clever guy, he knew absolutely everything about every ride.
Only criticism would be I just wish the video was longer and went into more detail on the technical side if I am to be honest, would of been great to get more detail into how the rides are operated etc. Maybe in future videos of this nature?
Brilliant, more like this please!
Thank you very much for the feedback
I’m back! And ready for a TPW marathon!
Super exciting video, awesome to see behind the scenes
We hope you enjoy!
Great! Thank you & Liseberg for this awesome backstage Tour!

What an opportunity! Great video guys
Enjoying your different content your putting out lately. Well done!
Thank you!
Taylor of Coaster Studios got to sign Balder as well.
He did indeed!
8:57 that machine you see on the left side. We have almost an exact copy of that at our school. We use to make rods shorter in diameter so it fits in different places it needs to be and can be modified with different “cut-pieces”
Well as a first year student at the school I think it’s funny they have that there
I look forward to more videos like this.Nice behind the scenes stuff :-).Keep them.coming
Really fascinating and such an amazing park Deffo on my to do list

Awsome video and content shawn .. thanks for taking us behind the scenes buddy
as an operator for Djurs sommerland, to see the operators in a booth like that, nah tho i like standing and talking with my other colleuges i would go insane just sitting there
Had almost the exact same tour with the same guy two years ago, minus the op cabin stuff because there were quite a few of us.
They are a fantastic park with enthusiasts!
The feet look adjustable. Very clever.
Trying to go here ASAP but having no luck booking tickets 🤔😢
The website is quite hard to understand, hopefully you manage soon!

I saw you here at lisebergbanan and i am actually in the back of the train at 14:23
That's great! I hope you had a wonderful day
What a gent. Mainly Pontas (check the bowtie) but of course you too.
He looked great!
When you say that maintenance area is really well organized I'm actually pretty scared to ride a attraction not in the nordic countries.
Other parks are safe, just some back of house areas are not as tidy as this!
Tour guide absolute legend
Pontus is an amazing person!
Later this year could you do six flags great adventure pls
I'd love to visit at some point in the future, it's unlikely to be this year though unfortunately
Why haven't you mentioned Lisa in the vlogs?
Lisa doesn't want to be in the videos
Theme Park Worldwide Really liked Lisa but respect her decision
Fascinating video shawn! Pontus seemed like a great tour guide :)
