I was 63 when I first heard this - now I am 74 and just rediscovered my links and bookmarks that I loved back then - this music has not only stood the test of time but in this age of accelerating AI madness it is even more a welcome sound now than it was then too.
I love this band and have all of their albums, which I think are all good, but I really must say that what really made me fall in love with them was their initial music. Their first album will always be their best for me, and in my humble opinion, they were at their best back then - back when it was all three of them. Much of that magic came from the ethereal, harmonious dynamic between the voices of the twin sisters combined. Watching this video, I see Claudia off at the side, singing with her face contorted in what looks like bittersweet passion, and I wonder, as I often have: what were the "personal reasons", that have been journalised, for which she left the group? Could it possibly have been a widening rift between her and her sister, Alejandra? Could it be that Alejandra and Benjamin had grown to share something which Claudia felt left out of or like a third wheel to? In any case, I feel that the disbanding of the duo the Deheza sisters formed for this band was almost as much of a loss to music as the tragically early death of Benjamin Curtis. I still remember, love and appreciate you and your invaluable contribution to this band, Claudia. Without you, School of Seven Bells would never have been.
I know for a fact that Alley and Claudia are still close so I'd assume she probably just felt like the third wheel in the band especially when Alley and Ben were dating. Personally I've enjoyed all their music even after Claudia left but I can agree that there was a special magic when the two harmonized together. If you like Claudia's singing, check out her band A Cloud Mireya with Guillermo Heren (Prefuse 73). It's a beautiful album and in my opinion as good as SVIIB's debut. Also the Deheza sisters' previous band On!Air!Library! is great too
I was so sad when this guy died, and still am. their music means so much to me, also those voices. very happy to hear there will be one more album out, from material recorded prior to Ben's death. i just love sosb so much i can realate so much to that emotions its incredible. very, very, few bands affected me so intensively.
Been hearing the Alternate version of this track on BBC6 for a while, recently checked out the original as well as more music from SVIIB, then to my dismay learnt about Benjamin. It all brought me here to see and hear this, and the music will live on forever.
This masterpiece bypasses the consciousness and speaks directly to the soul and spirit. The lyrics are relatable and surreal, while the way each word is chanted individually in the verses is so powerful, almost like they are trying to wake you from your subconscious slumber. The melodies and wall of sound created by the synths and backing vocals are cathartic, healing and rapturous. I wished this band had enjoyed better longevity so that they can continue producing songs like this.
The philosophy behind the lyrics and the thoughts that come to mind from them......wow. Accompanied by a perfect sound and harmony that really brings the whole song to life.....amazing. Every note, pitch, tune, and poetry really shows the deep intelligence behind it all.
Benjamin is so complez playing guitar, i tried to keep up when he was on Secret Machines, but he´s like The Edge, tons of gear that mask and sound amazing, even for simple chords
I mist the chance to see this band in Manchester, and after hearing this I am regreting it! Please come back to north east England (Sunderland or Newcastle) soon.
Love this song so much! And I believe their songs are very hard to perform...Look at their face when they were singing.....They do really exerted themself! :P I do really want to see their live!
I guess you must be new to their music. Heart is Strange, Bye Bye Bye, Dust Devil, ILU, Windstorm, Lafaye, The Night, Reappear, When You Sing, and Faded Hearts are all great songs.
A great band . Very underrated. I miss them too.

Walking around streets listening to this song is one of the most cinematic thing i have ever experienced.
This remains my life's favourite song. I doubt any track will every replace it. It is as perfect today as when I first heard it. Just sublime.

Benjamin!! I was headed to Denton and you floated down on the breeze of this sonic gem. What a treasure to have heard you in Denton.

Still love this band they have a great catalog, especially ghost story. Wish I could’ve seen them live. Rip Ben
Freaking awesome! One of the best bands of the past 20 years.
Where would I be without KEXP? I'd never have heard such incredible sound.

I mist the chance to see this band in Manchester, and after hearing this I am regreting it!

Rest in peace Benjamin.
what guitars are those? looks like a similar brand
awww fuck i just heard....
Female: Slays it in a live concert
Cameraman: Shows close up of male side characters guitar pedal
He's a member of the band, not a sideman lol
I think Claudia is the better singer but Alejandra's lyrics are crazy!!
Greaatt sound, it's almost impossible to find female musicians that are actually decent for this style :)
me fiche de la vidéo mes oreilles sont opennnnnnnnnnnn
please give me more
Live version is VERY shoegazey.
their live show seems very sensitive and delicate. it's good, but it seems less fun to be playing.
Get a live rhythm section!
кьюи
Yeah, they're singing with a bit of an accent.
