Your point is the entire problem. All that's left of rocket league is the competitive side. There's no appeal to the casual players with anything left in the game. Epic games has done nothing but try to take your money. First removing keys, then adding the battle pass, then the item shop, then no more trading. This game has been going downhill as soon as Epic took over and it's super unfortunate because everyone in the community thought that them acquiring psyonix was gonna propel the game to new heights

And people just aren’t getting it. They still preorder. They still gush over overpriced dlcs. They still fall for flashy trailers for games that come out halfway completed. Ever since gaming went mostly digital and not physical this has become the standard. Better graphics and poor quality gameplay and overall completion. They cut beta testers and use the paying players instead. And instead of fixing what’s wrong with games they do these little “patches” that half the time break the game entirely. Nothing will change until the people stand up and do something together and hold those accountable. We’re getting fucked over in every way

Why is it everybody thinks that the game needs something else rather than new stadiums and cars and a creative mode? Look at traditional sports like soccer, basketball, etc. There are slight rule changes to make the game more fair and new jerseys and shoes every season, yet people go and buy merch just for supporting the game, not because they are forced to. Rocket league is a wonderful game which is all about reaching new skill gaps and refining skill to make it more enjoyable. It's competitive aspect is the only one that does not involve RNG and yet people are still unsatisfied.
Embrace the game as it is and be happy they haven't shut it down yet. I mean it is a pity I cannot trade my items with friends anymore, but though that way they eliminated a path for people not to focus on cosmetics and use them similar to how Counter Strike items are used for gambling for example, especially when it comes to opening crates back in the days. Also, exclusivity of items is slowly taken away for the community's sake. Alpha boost does not make anyone better than somebody else, it only pushes the ego. Also, the last couple of season passes were massive in my opinion, you get so many items and colour variations for 10 bucks, which you eventually get back every season. Remember the game is free, and by investing 10 bucks you get unlimited season passes with 250+ new items every 3-4 months.
Another important aspect is that I haven't experienced any bugs during my 5 years playing, maintenance was always spot on. Even if there was a glitch, they removed it as fast as possible. How are they going to have resources and funds if the community wants everything for free, consider cost for staff, maintenance, servers, the competitive scene, etc.
I will say it again: This game is about grinding to become better and reach new heights and maybe, if the conditions are right, going comp with teams, especially since the age gap is lowered now and people can earn some money for their effort. Everything extra is for those who don't and won't and don't want to embrace the car soccer game and expect something else out of it.

Take it from us 30 year olds, epic games stopped caring about their games when they released bulletstorm shortly before gears of war 3. Fortnite and rocket league both prove these. Both games, the communities are what made them. If it werent for community on fortnite or RL, multiple game modes, tournaments and their structures, and upkeep on the service with battlepasses and new cars/usable player content, wouldnt exist. The community made gears. Epic games killed it. The community has made rocket league. And Epic games has been actively trying to kill it.

I've got to be honest, when was the last time the majority of the community gave any alternate gamemode so much as a second glance? Sure, Knockout and Heatseeker were mild successes, but they quickly dropped off within days and never attracted the players who play the game the most.
Sure, the idea of having more modes is nice, but the hard fact is that nobody plays them. They just don't. Epic doesn't update the game because the majority do not care for the game to be updated. This game has hauled in 400-450,000 players per day, every day, since F2P was released and that hasn't declined, despite a lack of updates. The players have voted with their time, they just want to play your bogstandard 1s, 2s and 3s. Trading removed? They didn't care, not enough to leave anyway. The only people to "blame" are the players. This development direction was dictated by Psyonix as early as 2017, and Epic is only following the direction set by the players. I'm sure if players left due to your complaints, they would have done so years ago, hell, before Epic even came in. But that didn't happen.
This game's success is built off of just being the best car soccer game in the world. It sucks for content creators, sure, but really, how many multiplayer games can you think of actually have enduring content past the 5 year mark, beyond whining about their balance going to shit? There's really not that many, and all of them have a game marketed a lot more to variety. While your proposals would be a nice to have, it's not really a necessity for the game to succeed. It's not like they'd actually attract people. It would be effectively empty content for creators, making videos on stuff nobody plays.

But since Epic's buying of Psyonix, the cosmetics are meh, some of the licensing deals are cool and some are amazing, but thats basically all they have provided for the RL community.
They have taken more away from us than given (Not including the amount of cosmetics), and its only killing the game.
Idk why Epic saw the Metaverse fail so badly, and want to recreate it with Fortnite, cause its only going to kill themselves in the process, like it did for Meta.

These games with younger player bases (RL has a notoriously young playerbase), are treated like this. Kids will mindlessly play the same game (and also buy cosmetics).
More mature audiences will move on unless there is a reason to stay. And will not buy enough cosmetics.

This is 1000% a stretch, and most definitely a thing that will never happen, but I just sat here for a solid 20 minutes thinking about this so I thought I'd share (And I'm gonna use a few [weirdly chosen] games to explain this a little better)
TL;DR: Rocket League UGC update that lets people create/build cosmetics/maps in-game or imported, that's basically it.
I got this idea when you mentioned steam workshop functionality for Rocket League. I built on that idea since Rocket League doesn't "exist" on steam anymore so: Let people create their own decals/cosmetics/etc etc built into Rocket League and published into their in-game shop (Sort of like how Roblox does it; I have no other examples). Let people build their own maps/gamemodes like Fortnite Creative/UGC; take those private match modifiers and add way more settings + add more flexibility to currently existing modifiers (also with some sort of built-in gamemode/map browser), and just let people publish their creations into a built-in browser.
Maybe Psyonix/Epic could then set it up so you could create instances from those gamemodes/maps (like Fortnite), OR similar to what Valve did with TF2 and let people vote on maps that could be officially added to the official pool of maps based on popularity.

Everyone is talking about new content but like what else do u really want in rl that doesn't fundamentally change the game. Like for an example, cs basically has been the same game for ages and everyone was pretty happy with it ( ofc cs2 has spiced things up but that's a whole other can of worms). I'm not saying that rl should just be like this forever but the game wasn't designed in the first place to be a game to last a nearly a decade. To be fair I think its just the game lifecycle like we see in league of legends,cs and dota. These games had their peaks but eventually there's just so much you can do to retain interest. Only the most faithful will still play those games and the casuals will slowly fade out hence why ur average lobby in cs has people with 2k+ hours. Rocket League is probably following the same trajectory ( I think it already has) so I think it's unfair to just blame epic for people simply just losing interest in the game. Like if Epic just fundamentally changed the game tmr that would kill the game even faster. I think the best thing they could do is just make existing things more smooth (S E R V E R S). Now sure u can make the argument that if epic put more effort in rl than it would have never reached this point/joined the same trajectory as these other flagships but if you look at riot with league, they have constantly changed the game giving endless content for years now and they have the same fate. It's just the natural lifespan of a game that's all.
TLDR: Games gain and lose popularity over time independent of the developers

Fortnite has gotten more rocket league content than RL. Many of RL's devs and casters were laid off. There have only been cash grab cosmetic updates and UI changes since epic took over.
Yes casual players will always leave. Epic accelerated this to terminal velocity such that even those dedicated players are leaving.
Nothing about how epic treated this game and it's resulting popularity was natural to the lifecycle of an average game that has a dev team pushing "updates" every in game season

As for the content creation; it's not an original idea but the one I've been starved for is League of Rockets Twelve Titans. Someone needs to bring a modern reimagining of that. High production best of 1 show matches with the current best players in the world. You could even make it a series with multiple qualifiers where the winner gets a spot in the new Twelve Titans or whatever name it under. Maybe even keep the Twelve Titans format with the winners of the first 4 qualifiers earning the gatekeeper status and the remaining 8 thrown in the pit. Just a thought.

This is a BAD STATEMENT to give because it's this statement that gives us the Mandalorian mayhem that's going on or gives us recycled stuff that can be repeated in 5 seconds. instead we should be asking for something entirely new like how Knockout was. maybe if they added some stuff to rumble or something but we shouldn't just expect to be ok with just ANYTHING. unless you really want to see "standard rocketleague but 1 thing is slightly different" being released.

this type of shit is why i stopped playing. i already started losing interest in playing the game, and trading was basically the only thing keeping me coming back. no new content, only updates were for shit u had to pay for. then trading was taken from us. haven't touched rl since then, and from what it's looking like i don't think that'll change.
ngl i saw it coming the moment epic bought out psyonix, i just didn't know how soon. i was sincerely hoping they'd prove me wrong and turn out to be an amazing thing for the game and its community, but it turned out to be the exact opposite.
what did they do for the game so far? take the assets and put em into a shitty fortnite mini-game that has the longevity of a piece of bread left sitting on ur counter, that's what. yes, i'm salty about trading being gone. no, it's not for the reasons u think it's for. like they've legit done nothing for rl except add more shit to buy. it's all just a tax write-off for them. at the end of the day, that's why trading is gone. they make no money from its existence, so they saw it as direct competition. i still would've been salty about it, but less so if there were things added that meant something other than fucking $$$$$$$$.

what we call the whole gaming industry is not all of actually, we are just used to the big title for years now per example with RL or CODs ( older ones). The thing is there are 2 simple ways on how it is ending for these: The direction -efforts put - their games or they just get killed and sent to oblivion by other games. They: think, talk, and see only numbers (Of players) so if we want to influence gaming direction u know what to do lads

More game modes and other ways to play. Why cant they just hire lethamyr to make new games and maps? He does it all the time and the stuff he comes up with looks hella fun but it's too difficult to figure out how to play on his custom maps. It’s not your content, it is most definitely all of the points you give. Epic’s offerings only being monetarily guided is ultimately at fault. I have so many duplicate items I should be able to trade up, but cannot. Too many good items and not enough ways to acquire any of them. The game wants to rewards only those who buy the pass. I get the revenue factor, but it’s one of the reasons the game is less appealing to the casual. We want to come back, we need something to look forward to.

also consider how long it takes to complete the full painted rocket pass, with FN i can just switch on an XP map and earn it for free (which is not ideal and somewhat beats the purpose of the pass but its a better option imo, i can spend time on other things) but with the rocket pass i have to drop in daily to even have a chance of gaining every paint.

    sources: Asmongold. The biggest example.
my predictions: Rocket League esports will see less and less viewership, with less and less prizepools as the game slowly dies.
    10k avrg playerbase by 2026 or 2025.
