I will never tire of hearing the absolute joy and appreciation in your voice as you experience the beauty of nature....each time I hear your reaction it reminds me to always remain open to the beauty that surrounds us every day and let the joy in!
Next time Katie on this route you can take the out and back road to The Teno lighthouse, the road is amazing perfectly tarmaced and best of all cars are not allowed! We got over 55mph on the descent!
I just returned from a holiday in the canaries. I watched your videos before and did all the climbs on gran canaria and tenerife. Thank you so much for posting!
You’re enticing me with a Tenerife trip! Love a good climb 😏 that looked reallyyyy brutal though, even without the intervals! Beaut views and good vibes! Thanks for another epic vid Katie xx
Awesome Katie. I'm up that way again in may. I definitely remember that road between Adeje and Chio. If you climb through Tamaimo towards Masca ( Santiago del Teide) that would be good to see as I'll be staying in Los Gigantes and Masca is my other route
Very impressive riding Katie, crazy amount of climbing! Tenerife looks like a stunning place for a biking holiday, will have to get myself over there at some point 🙂
Mountains in the sunshine with mega views equals happy Katie, bit of winter sun just the job.
Your laugh is infectious…so glad you got to spend time with your parents!
Hi great video some nice hills your on,Must say great photo of you in cycling Uk Magazine this month.
Awesome Katie. You’ve inspired me to give this climb a go next month.
Masca was one of the hardest rides I've ever done. It is no joke. Every time you think you're done climbing, it just keeps going. If you have time and feel like going back in that direction, the lighthouse (Punta de Teno) on the northwest edge of the island (it's where the windmill is off in the distance @ 3:04), has a spectacular view of the ocean and the cliffs where Masca is.
Another top video. Especially enjoyed it as I was one of the Muppets doing the granguanche with your mate. Tenerife was one the best bits partly as weather was fantastic.
You have such a nice spirit. I hate climbing, but you make it look appealing! thx, Courtney
Impressive climb. When you said impressive view of me when you switched to the phone quadlock, it was a stream is consciousness and we were in your head. Brilliant!
Some of those scenes were spectacular to see and add the fun of a bicycle to that well, you got peace right here in Tenerife, plus getting a daily dose of exercise. 🚲
... Well this Vid' Katie is loaded withSimply Stunning Vista's..Cracking Climb
Just upped my determination to push on & get myself.. where I need to be.. to get out there & Soak Up them there Climbs & Decents!
(the fact I have an old Swim Club Mate living out there..constantly telling me to get Me 'arris out there..since 2018..It quite simply 'as to be done!)
Thanks for Your' Fab-U-lous' Tourist Board Video..on behalf of Tenerife!
Excellent Katie!
Love the Canaries...all the islands have there unique characteristics, Gomera is small and very steep, La Palma is greener and you can reach a higher altitude on a bike...all the roads are amazing - Tenerife and Gran Canaria are busy...other islands are much quieter
'Fricken' Great video Katie and 'Fricken' Great ride, Well Done You and Thanks You for posting! 🙂👍
This is why I love climbing, the views at the top make it all worth it and then you have a lovely descent which for me is always the highlight! Those views were just spectacular Katie, you really are living the dream👍
Beautiful views! Thank you!
Love your videos. Just watched whilst on the turbo for 90 minutes and it made time fly by
Katie, the Masca wall climb is a tough one 👏👏Descending it with the sheer drops and oncoming coaches is interesting too.🙈
I think you are amazing Katie, I don’t know how you manage to ride up a mountain and talk us through your ride at the same time. Goodonya.
Love the Masca climb, great ride out of Los Gigantes
Looks stunning for a January getaway ❤
It's like a less green version of Colombia. Dodging the winter back home hey Katie🌞
i really recommend the route from puerto de la cruz to buenvista del norte and then start climbing to el palmar and then through masca valley to santiago del teide. that is a hefty climb. the traffic was a bit annoying and you have to watch out for the coaches, cause they set back and forth in the really steep corners and with the bike you have no chance to stop.
it was such an incredible experience, i will never forget. also from la esperanza to pico del teide was unbelievable beautiful. that feeling when you arrive the summit, money can´t buy. enjoy!
@TheSilvercrosser this sounds great, have you got a Strava / Komoot route link for this? Thanks!
I tackled that climb you were on about a few weeks back was so so steep!!
Doesn't get much better than that ... family, mountains and how about them views! Spectacular. Well done filming on the climb and narating all the while with a smile! 🚵♂👍🙂
Can’t believe you showed my poor diet choices to the world! 😂😂
No 'spoons 😅
Those roads look fantastic and bravo for your climbing, and you recon you're "not fit enough" for the audax? lol I'm in lanzarote so I could show ya some routes if you ever come over.
Quad lock in landscape for filming if you like👍😎🚴
After 8 trips to Tenerife, I prefer the riding and lodging in the north part of the island. The south (anything south of Playa San Juan on the west coast) is basically a tourist ghetto while the entire north coast has a wider variety of climbing, lots more greenery, picturesque villages, better food, etc.
Love the views, adding Tenerife to my bucket list of areas to ride!! What laptop do you use when you're editing on holidays traveling?
Love the videos - what headphones are you using, are they bone transfer ones?
Just to let you know Katie, the industrial scene you saw is only temporary, it’s where they are building a new tunnel through the mountain to link the north and south motorways creating a ring road round the island. Happy riding and stay safe.
Yes! When that is completed, the Erjos climb (from both directions) will probably be relatively traffic free!😎!
Los Gigantes, the giants, refers to the massive cliffs on the coast near the town.
crazy climbing!! there is a mountain near me where in 10km you climb 500m at the top 32km later just over 1000m a two lane tarmac road through the jungle on Bokor Mountain Kampot Cambodia. my old legs get me up there in about 2.5 hours...
I was looking to plan a route and after seeing your video I knew I had to do Masca! 😊ot was amazing experience only a cyclist can enjoy!
I would love to ride there! Beautiful!!!!!
…125k, so it‘s not a far distance i ride!!! you‘re cycling and living in another world 🚵🏼♀️ luv your videos
Hey Katie, really enjoy your videos. I've also been wanting to do Teneriffa, but your description of the climb(500m in 15k or 2800m for 85km so about 3%) doesn't really describe it for me. What are the percentages on the high side and for how long would really interest me🤔 p.s. very inspiring, especially considering from where you started!👍
Another fine video, thank you. I am wondering, what app you use to shoot such steady video while holding your phone.
You should totally do an everest roam there 🤩
You should do a video comparing the canary islands.
Beautiful!
My recommendation for most impressive climb in Tenerife would be Los Silos to La Tierra del Trigo, on a road named Camino Real las Arenas. Spectacular views, spectacular gradient. Go give it a try. But bring proper gearing, too, it's up to 24%. And when you've done that, continue uphill to the Puerto de Erjos and take the small road westwards all the way up to the Radio Tower. What a view to the neighboring islands to the west.
You try to kill her with this suggestion. The climb on Strava is called Mama Mia. It’s not a joke 🥵😂
Going to Tenerife in September and now wish I hadn't seen this comment. Why you do this? 😂
@@tomh25404 tierra del trigo climb is toxic ☣️
@@cycliststrainingpartner8877 it looks brutal 🥵
Holy cow what views! What are you filming with your phone only? I’m having a fight with wind/audio and wonder if you ever run into issues due to the wind noise and how to avoid it?
You are so entertaining 😂
Katie, do you take your own bike away with you to Tenerife or hire one , which would be better to do?
Beautiful climbs. The random cyclist at the start thought "Alohi to you too" 😂
Consider changing your name to Katie the Goat! 😂 Well done that's an amazing climb!
Came back 2 weeks from there (car trip😜)
Wow! Can't quite believe you met Lee the Legend
I have been to Gran Canaria a few times and love it there. Tempted to try Tenerife too - how do you think the two compare? Will I enjoy Tenerife as much as Gran Canaria? BTW I love climbing - the steeper the better...
Like GC for cycling shorter routes, Tenerife is better for big days out.
It's written in the stars Katie, eventually you're going to emigrate to Tenerife, away from the annual cold & rain. Opening a sanctuary for orphaned mountain goats & donkeys ! 😅
Take care 🐴 🐑 🐑 🐐
No, I am not jealous, naaaa :) Snow and rain where I am.... slight depression.. Nice video to get the hopes up again though. Really steep long climbs there today, respect Katie.
Gone are the days when I was 8 stone wringing wet and went out looking for climbs but I like watching other people doing it 🚴🏽♀️🚴🏽♀️🚴🏽♀️🚴🏽♀️👍👍👍👍👍
I need to go back for another cardiac ablation after watching that insanity. Thanks for sharing. I'll muck about with 8 to 10% climbs for a bit.
How much water do you have to carry to do this climb? Are there places to refill? pee?
Autobar - Masca solved the drink problem.
Your face when you see mountains 🤣🤣
Courteous drivers perhaps cos they're mostly tourists themselves :) Wonderful effort K
I was cycling up Teide last year and was using Google Maps as directions. It was taking me up back roads so steep I couldn't manage them, they were insane!
Same 😅
Between Arona and La Escalona there is a “direct” route which misses out all the switchbacks. It’s impossibly steep to get up.
@@mrichards55 I think that's where I was! I was around Arona, so steep I could barely walk it.
I want to do that one, definitively, and I could alternating cycling with sessions of windsurfing in Al Medano. I really need to retire, tired of the high tech in the Silicon Valley...
Tell you what it’s a BRUTE!!!
Hi Katie 🙃😊
Cycletopia Katie….5degrees and foggy in Oldham today
I thought this was Oldham 😁
Go Katie, sweat for us all
The buses are scary though, stop for no one
Does "masochist" seem appropriate? The greater the torture they brighter your smile, and the depth of fun your broad smile brings to us who watch your videos is immeasurable.
You can do those last 5k piece of cake for u my dear. whish are were THERE
❤
Gnarly...😁
That horrible industrial looking construction site was not there a few years ago.😟
🙁
HAHA masca hits differently
It ABSOLUTELY does!!!! 🥵🥵🥵
@@KatieKookaburra how did your intervals go from memory? 👀😋
I have ask you years ago on here why you don't come to Tenerife if you like climbing😁
Cogs too curb , left drive
That view of you standing on an outcropping looked dangerous, but it was a great view!
I think the word you're trying to say is 'femnominal,' right?
That's dangerous, drivers are drunk and high on drugs driving...
Meanwhile, I’m climbing in soggy and cold Kent! Have fun Katie!

Did you say the South is better than the North in tenerife.
Yes, she did. To me inexplicable. see my comment above.
Do you have a boyfriend dear❤❤
