    Join us in this video as we discuss how much prices have changed in Turkey over the past year.
    Last year we made a video about how much you can eat for $20 USD in Istanbul… We have since gotten a lot of questions about how much the prices have increased since this time.
    Today we're here to answer that question! We're going to show you a side by side pricing comparison of the exact same 11 food items (from the same places) in October 2022 vs. September 2023 in both Turkish Lira and US dollar.

    I travel to Turkyie almost yearly on my annual vacation since 2012. My uncle has an appartment in Istanbul which helps a lot to save my trip budget.
    I get my salary in Saudi Riyal which is connected to UDS so I am not affected by the fall of TL. However I have noticed high increase between 2019 before covid and 2023 post covid.
    I spent around 12k USD on my 2023 vacation for about 31 days (exluding international flight tickets which cost around 2100$ for 4 persons)
    Renting a car with gas- parking-insurance, HGS etc costs around 2k$ per month
    We ate a loooot of food so the cost was around 2400$
    Around 2 weeks we stayed in 5 stars hotels and that was around 3800$
    For activites and we bought clothes etc 3000$
    So I do not know how any Turkish citizin can survive at current prices in 2024 it is even worse
    Minimum wage is 17002TL which is about 545$ but for teachers-engineers-police officers etc they get around 1600$ to 3200$ max

    I wonder if you could do a video on, "staying healthy in Istanbul (or Turkiye). I mean, you are both so healthy and thin. But all the food is fatty, fried, creamy, oily, etc. What do you eat in Turkiye to be healthy? I found cig kofte, which seems pretty ok health wise. Anyway, I am going in a week and really don't want to eat fatty, fried, oily food and not sure what to do. Thanks and love your videos.

      🤣 first of all, thanks for calling us healthy and thin haha! We cook at home a lot and the produce here is AMAZING! So we eat a lot of vegetables when we don’t eat out! So there’s that and also we take a 4 mile walk every morning so we can eat baklava every day!!

      I would like to add that eating healthy in Istanbul is actually very easy if you can resist the smell of döner and kebabs coming at you from all sides haha.
      Look for "lokanta"s in istanbul. It basically means cafeteria where you choose from a variety of dishes, including many vegetarian dishes that use olive oil.

    Hello, we are coming to Istanbul on yearly October from Chicago. Could you tell us please where and how better to exchange money in Istanbul?

    • @WaypointofView
      @WaypointofView  10 месяцев назад +1

      There are supposed to be some good places around the Grand Bazaar. But honestly we just withdraw the local currency out of ATMs (declining the conversion so we let our bank do the conversion).
      We have a Charles Schwab card that reimburses us for all ATM fees so this is the most economical way for us.

      To be honest there is a small section on the Black Sea / Rize.. but we go into more detail on the Turquoise coast with the most emphasis on the Southern section of the coast. If you are looking for in depth info on Rize, it is not in this guide.

    Is it better to bring cash and exchange, stick to credit cards, or just use ATMs?

    • @WaypointofView
      @WaypointofView  9 месяцев назад +3

      You can use a credit card at a lot of places especially in Istanbul but it is good to have some cash on you. As for how you access cash, It depends on the type of bank card you have. We use ATMs because we have a bank card that reimburses us for ATM fees so we decline the ATM conversion and get really good exchange rates with our bank. ATM fees can really add up so if you don’t have a card that will reimburse you, there are places you can get good cash exchange rates in Istanbul but that is far more tedious than just going to an ATM. Also as a side note Zarat bank ATMs have the lowest fees we have found. Hope this helps!

    "you should ask the price before you order"
    thats for sure , its like a golden rule wherever you travel around the world lol
    but
    come on guys , thats not a public place . its a cafe . you take a whole video for your youtube and order a couple glasses of tea only .
