Should do the same but using photoshop generative fill. I've used it a lot for various rock climbing related image processing, and some of the results can be wild. Pop a photo of your wall in and start generative filling some climbing holds, then recreate it to scale =P
Folks may have already said it. This might be considerably better if you use GPT4-vision model. It takes images as input and provides images as output. Can ask it to do slight adjustments to make it harder or easier or more comp style. I think the most interesting part would be to ask for creative betas - that’s the real test I think. Can it think like a climber? Furthermore, ask it to modify the beta if one has specific strengths. Eg. Fingers, flexibility, upper body and others.
For a fair comparison... You should've TEXTED with Tom or someone for setting a problem and see how that would turn out :D I imagine it to be quite difficult without images.
I think that using ai which is not programmed for the purpose of route setting, but for «generating» text like a search engine might not be the best option for that job. It would be interesting to see someone program ai for that purpose though!
What has been done and I suspect can use a lot of improvement is generative methods in board setting, simply because you can actually train a model with somewhat of a good amount of data
Boulderbot already has a simplistic version of that. You specify how good the hold is, how hard/long/reachy you want the problem to be, and it will spit out routes.
Considering that you could think of routsetting as a language. Where the sentensens the cruxes and their meaning is their grade and style, the parts of the sentenses are different combinations of moves. Then the LLM's ability to randomly pick parts giving about the same meaning to the sentense should be a good think. Intiutively it feels like this could be something the current AI's could become good at, given enough specific training
Maybe try gpt4-vision or another multimodal model. You can feed images into the language model . Like feeding successive images as the problem is being build ground up. This might work better.
A big thing about AI is training, you can teach is rules or guidelines to follow, (Like using a single monotonous colour), and it will use those for creations for at least that instance.
Very interesting video! Which AI did you use? Also some food for thought: the quality of AI responses is very prompt dependent (due to the fact how most of the AI language models currently work). It would be interesting to make a second video but with a prompt engineer standing next to you and suppporting you with guidance on how to improve the prompts and then compare the boulders and how much better it would work (if at all)
I tried to use AI to write lyrics or even progressions for music, and it was terrible for me. Unless you are doing predictable pop songs, I can always come up with more interesting ideas than AI.
Run the exact same experiment but use an intermediate climber with no setting experience to set it, I think AI might be getting credit for your interpretations :p
ChatGBT "can you give me a boulder problem for my large male friend?" "ChatGBT unfortunately I cant provide you with the information required. Your question has Sexist terms as well as marginalizing body positive climbers. We are sorry ChatGBT cant help you this time"
Cool video, due to the real human in it! It's amazing how AI takes the spark out of life. Nobody wants this stuff, sorry Bertha, the future dictated by weird tech geeks in dark rooms on computers that can't even look people in the eye, not cool. Being creative and probem solving is what makes life amazing.
Wait a sec Pete! "Is AI going to overtake coaches, route-setters" etc? I don't think you can say no at this point. For one thing you're using a general AI that has been trained on general knowledge found on the internet. If the AI was trained on past world cup or olympic boulders the results would be VERY different. I'm almost tempted to train an AI just to prove you wrong 😂
you do all realize that his entire climb was generated as fake video by an AI. He didn't climb anything, the AI did it virtually. The fact does he complains about aesthetics is just sour grapes because he didn't climb it. The future is virtual setting and virtual climbing. We will just watch the videos and comment, but that's what we youtube climbers do anyway.😂

That's such a cool idea
This could be very entertaining to watch
Why dont we take it further and make collab with some AI RUclipsr? I guess they could trai AI somehow to generate climbing routes. What do You think?
Shame you weren't able to find any 'Purple Pulsating Pinch' holds. The vibration of the hold really adds extra challenge
"Imagine a vivid pulsanting pinch of a majestic purple hue"

Isn't finding the beta a big part of climbing? why would you want to take that away?
@@Dave1507 So see if the AI has an understanding of how climbing actually works?
@@maffin1012 seing the "understanding" AI has of how human hands work, I think it's safe to say it won't know how climbing works.
If it talks, it's gpt 4, isn't it?
So red holds are hard and yellow are dynamic. Got it.
For a fair comparison... You should've TEXTED with Tom or someone for setting a problem and see how that would turn out :D I imagine it to be quite difficult without images.
When the robot uprise happens I feel Burtha is going to come for you Pete 😂
next episode should be Tom on the phone with Pete giving the feedback instead of AI.
yes!
"I never done bouldering, but how hard can it be. " 🤖

There is already some AI for setting problem on spraywalls
@@miguelgazquez5717 is this available somewhere?
Chat GPT: If the problem is too hard, try to suck less 😃
This should be a new series to be honest, this is exciting to watch for sure
56:52 The PULSATING pinch! 🤣
Very entertaining video. Pete's incredulity with the AI's suggestions made me laugh out loud repeatedly.
"Of course, it provides visual interest" 👁️👄👁️
8:17 I will keep in mind that if a move is too hard the appropriate beta is getting tools and changing it, thanks!
'Multi-coloured' simply tipped Pete over the edge🤣.
What has been done and I suspect can use a lot of improvement is generative methods in board setting, simply because you can actually train a model with somewhat of a good amount of data
I wonder if it'd help to have AI generate problems on a training board, assuming you can feed it the exact position / type of every hold
You could probably train an AI using the exiting kilter board problems to generate new problems with a given grade and/or style.
Boulderbot already has a simplistic version of that. You specify how good the hold is, how hard/long/reachy you want the problem to be, and it will spit out routes.
There is a video about this on the Triple Clutch Climbing RUclips channel. It's not really based on advanced AI but pretty interesting nonetheless.
There is actually a cool paper on arxiv called "Recurrent Neural Network for MoonBoard Climbing Route Classification and Generation"
I wanna hear Bertha say "paddle hands or baggy fingers" . . .

Pete man your laughter is really contagious 😁 This was hilarious and a proper effort! Cudos to Berta
i like this boulder xD. The different colors give it a unique style.

I lost it…. Completely lost it watching this. 😂😂😂😂😂
Thought you meant Ai Mori lol :) great vid haha
Rarely laughed so much on a climbing video 🤣
Love it
A big thing about AI is training, you can teach is rules or guidelines to follow, (Like using a single monotonous colour), and it will use those for creations for at least that instance.
After climbing it what grade do you think the boulder was?
Was crying and laughing about the reasoning for choice of colour for the holds.
I noticed you filled on jibs to the beginning sloper. Are they now there forever or do you have some method of repairing the sloper after removing it.
Some holds that are often used with screw ons become swiss cheese over the years
Very interesting video! Which AI did you use?

I bet if you asked the ai to set a dozen you’d have a pretty good spray wall.
The roasting answers from the AI are hilarious 😂
Interesting colour combinations and route 😁 nice send. Presume you've shaved off the minge tickler now, unless filmed b4 US trip.
was the difficulty anywhere near V10-12? What would you have graded it?
I think he said at 9:12 it would be about a 9.
He mentioned he thought it was V9 at one point in the vid, before he sent it.
oh my bad missed that... thank you to you two!
Pete the "Crack Fister" vs A.I. !!!🤘 🤣
no, seriously...very interesting video...great content as usual 👍
you should ask ai to generate a picture of a boulder style problem for jamming on a gym wall!
I love how annoyed Pete is with the color choices
The Magnus superpower of taking the shirt off definitely helped in the end.
Bertha seemed nervous. Poor thing
I tried to use AI to write lyrics or even progressions for music, and it was terrible for me.
Unless you are doing predictable pop songs, I can always come up with more interesting ideas than AI.
This makes me kind of want to make a setting AI.
Bertha sounds like a year 7 student giving a 10 minute presentation about something they researched for 5 minutes
Cool video! But Ai is a talented 154 cm 20 year old who destroys climbs (but not rock climbing). Subtly different from AI!
Hey Pete, if I were Magnus I'd be really worried by now. Without a t-shirt you are serious competition. Keep it up!
What a great idea for a video. Did the AI came up with the concept too?
I only dyno to yellow holds. Ai got it right.
Oof you’re looking more jacked recently Pete, keep it up king!
Is AI going to help route setters, coaches, and pro climbers, is the more interesting question.
AI will always need the human touch. Great vid, love the content!
I wonder if it was sperging out about color because you asked it and it interpreted this as some sort of important aspect.
A wonderfull idea to ask an ai! Great videa 😂
Find it so funny that the AI believes that the colour of the hold affects the style of the move/the motivation of the climber.
I honestly thought you were referring to Ai Mori.
Careful Pete. One day AI will be laughing at us
"Give me some Beetahh"
Should have been by far a longer video fr
What do you think for the grade of the is pete?
Can't wait for AI designing our cities 🤠
Please let AI give pete a haircut

ChatGPT really isnt AI at all. Its an aggregator.
I think ai did perfect casue it gave you something you needed to project a little bit which is what you want for real improvement and growth
Whats with all the colors?😂
Pete can climb at least V9, 9a, A1, and now V9AI
It's absolutly awful 😂 I'm loving this video
