Any source for this? The DX7 was released in 1983 and the movie Flashdance was released in April of 83 so it would not have been commercially available at the time Sembello was recording Maniac. Likewise with the Bossa Nova Hotel album. 99% sure there’s no DX7 on Maniac or the album. Plenty of other synths were capable of that electric piano sound although not as iconic as the DX version.
