I think you probably could. Honestly, I would use all of the pie filling, but not as much of the cake mix or butter because I don't think you'd want that layer to be too thick, otherwise the butter might not soak all the way down into the cake mix. I use about 75% of the cake mix and butter in the 8x11 version.
I think that's a great idea! I think the tartness of the cherry pie filling would help bring out the strawberry flavor. Let me know how it turns out! 🍓🍒😀👍
You could do that, but it was totally change the texture. You would end up with a fluffy cake layer on top--which wouldn't necessarily be bad--but it wouldn't have the crunchy, crumbly texture that most people like about dump cakes. I hope that helps! 👨🍳

I've never used strawberry cake mix, in all honesty, so I don't know how it compares to white or yellow mix. In short, my gut tells me it would be good, but if you know the cake mix is a bit on the sweet side, I would stick to white or yellow. Let me know what you decide to do. Sometimes specialized mixes are in smaller boxes, so like I said, make sure the box is the right size...but other than that, it should be perfectly fine. Let me know how your dump cake turns out!🍓👍
