Totally agree, i wanna hear it like i was in the room, some over produced videos give you a totally diferent sound to what you would hear if you were there.
In my opinion the Boss Katana is the biggest bang for you buck you could buy as i guitarist.
That’s the best in the room recorded demo I have heard of anything!

If my V1 Katana 50 had the Pushed channel, I’d probably have kept it. Great job for a first, off-the-cuff unboxing and first impressions. You’ve probably sold a bunch of Gen 3’s for Boss!

I have a DSL1CR and am thinking the same thing. I have a Katana 50 MKII and think I'll get the Katana 100 GEN3.
@@doneriksen5599 The DSL could be plugged into a 12" cab (16ohms) that my alternative yet also costs about €250-350 (Marshall,PRS).
The werd thing is that I rum a DS-1 and CH-1 into the clean channel, high hain I find barely useable.
Let me know what you think if you do get a Katana and compare it to the DSL. I would say a DSL1 Head with 1x12 Greenback beats a Katana by a mile

Dave, I have a 50 MkI and a 50 MkII (connected ABY via the Radial big shot) and I am very happy with that set up. I saw Gen 3 had come out… I watched a few videos and thought I’ll wait and see what Dave says. Dammit, now I need a Gen 3. Well done!

I got my MkII 100 based largely on the testimonal and videos that you did (not _just_ you, but mainly yours).
I *love* my Katana, it has been a far more significant guitar purchase for me than any of my actual guitars or outboard pedals; the first time I just played my fairly mediocre LH Peavey Exp through it clean, at volume, was a life-changing experience and made me completely re-evaluate my guitar itself, and my playing.
They're great amps, especially if you get the Librarian or the Android app and dig into the settings a little.
This is a great demo, loved it. You would have sold me on a Gen 3 if I didn't have a 12-month old Mk II 🙂

This video is a fine example of why Boss want to send you products from the Katana range. I don't need a Katana guitar amp (I mostly play bass*, and occasionally mess around on acoustic and electric guitars, and the things with 6 strings only get played at home). Having watched this video, I want an amp that I don't need, despite being fully aware that it won't make me sound like Dave Simpson. It's not just the excellence of the playing (a given with your good self), it's the range of great tones that you're able to get in a short period of time.
When you do your more extended test, I'd be interested in seeing how it behaves in one of the low-power settings (i.e. does it sounds good at volumes which won't upset the neighbours?).
*My current bass amp of choice is a Katana; it's great for sessions in rehearsal rooms, it loves the small number of pedals I feed into it, and the 1-watt setting means I can plug in at home without getting tangled up in headphone cables.

Another great review Dave. I just got a hold of the Kat 50 G3, and it is really one of the best little amps out there. The Mk1 version was very gig worthy and I expect the G3 to carry on the tradition.

It's insane. Great playing by the way. They have taken it as far as you can go with digital amps. Sounded unbelievable.
The Katana amps are and always have been analog. The preamp circuit is a mosfet solid state, which is analog. The modulation and reverb effects are digital, but that's it.

Best video of this amp by far and you didn't even try😂. Sitting on a Mk1 myself and wasn't interested in gen 3 until I seen this. Reafirms how good these are for basically not much money

Awesome video dave once again just bought myself one of these bad boys i went with the 100 watt version as you get all the features on there where with 50 version you dont but still coming from a marshall mg that died on me comparing it to this it knocks it clean out the water so versitle what it does so many great sounds to get with it and with me being big chilis fan like you dave like how you suggested what tone to go with for frusciante as there songs are on my to do list eventually also noticed your walking dead fan like me too with epic poster in background😍 but fantasic amp worth the money well done boss 😍👏🎸

I have a Katana 100 mk2. It is my go to gigging amp for all sizes of venue. Weight, ease of use, TONE, flexibility. It has it all. Sold my Vox AC15 Hardwired and Fender Blues Junior...... Don't need them. If this Gen 3 is an improvement I'll be amazed. Great demo btw.
