My man! Welcome to world of finesse fishing. You are going to be hooked. I would recommend you start off with the Suppressor or Buoyancy light action rod just to make sure you are comfortable with the concept of finesse fishing. They are light but versatile enough for 1/4 oz lures. If you truly want to dive right into BFS, then get the Suppressor or the Buoyancy Ultra Light (BFS) rod. If i didnt already have both a suppressor and dobyns 7ft bfs rods i would of preordered after the first video you did. i need a 6' to 6'6" one piece bfs for bottom contact river fishn. the carbon fiber handle should be perfect. prefer a 6'4" for trompn round creeks and yakn. I broke a Kuying teton grabing it up the blank and pulling a snag while in my yak. The current pulled me more than i thought and rod broke almost exactly where my hand was on the bottom part of the 2pc blank. So just this demo shows the blanks are tough! I managed a couple cold water early season smallies a couple weekends ago with my supressor/16 Aldy combo. zman finesse craw on a 32nd ounce jig in thigh deep water. Super fun time! Would Old18 make a custom bfs rod? even if shortening the blank changed power rating it would be perfect for the majority of fishing i do here in west by gosh! I try to buy local and made in the USA whenever i can but sometimes theres not an option. There are several Chinese brands that are price/performance champions. They also have a much wider selection of actions/powers/lengths. The rod i broke i can replace and still not of spent as much as my old18 or Dobyns rods. I would however not buy completely blind. Do a lil searching before you make an order.

I was contemplating making my next BFS rod. This Bouyancy ticks all but one of my boxes and is making me think about it seriously. The Kingfisher FF01 reel is looking more attractive as well. What do you think?

Sorry my man. Old 18 recently started charging shipping on the rods since the rod blanks increased in price. This was the only way to keep the price of the rod the same.

Have been looking at the Gary Loomis Edge rods, but these have spiked my interest. Have heard horror stories of customer service by Gary Loomis Edge, but everyone that has an edge rod loves them and they compare very highly against g.loomis. Either way, supporting American labor is where my dollars are going with either Old 18 or Gary Loomis. Just haven't heard anything about old 18, but in the video I heard NFC. Have a few NFC blanks and they're all I gravitate towards.
@@europeanian4205 I only use the bit that goes in my hand. BFS doesn’t/shouldn’t require long grip for two handed casts or to lever big fish up from the depths.

It sucks that make mostly Casting rods..They dont make medium heavy Spinning rods..I am not really good at casting rods.I prefer Spinning..
