I think the reason why the top 250s are qualifying with nearly the same times as the top 450s is that the 250 teams are making their 250s as powerful as possible, while the 450 teams are trying to make their bikes more manageable for their riders to race by making them mellower. In effect making the 250s faster and the 450s slower. IMPO I think this is a good reason to get rid of the 450 class and replace it with a 350 class. If the AMA were to change supercross to a 250 class and a 350 class this may persuade the Japanese manufacturers to start producing 350s. Then the AMA and MXGP could eventually replace the 450 outdoor motocross class with 350s. I have seen several videos of back-to-back lap times of 250s, 350s, and 450s and the 350s had the fastest lap times as they are more manageable to ride than a 450 and don't tire you out as much as a 450 does. Time for change!
Honestly, I bought the 22 FC 350, and I traded it in at 1.2 hrs for a 22.5 Factory Edition 450. At 190 lbs it was rough, but I like alot of bottom so I can ride a gear high on my 450. But I wouldn't mind trying the 23 350, heard it's alot better, and I love the chassis on my 22.5, bet it's a better package 🏁🤙
@@scotttapp1453 I think the racing federations like the AMA and MXGP would force the Japanese to make 350s if they changed to 250 & 350 only. I mean Toni Cairoli was winning World Championships on a 350 in the 450 class.
The 250 riders have pretty much just as just as much skill as the 450 riders. Moving up to the 450 class is being able to manage all that power while maintaining the same lap times. So just cause your on a 450 doesn’t mean you should have 10 second faster lap times. It’s a bigger bike with more power which requires more strength and throttle control which is what separates the 250’s from the 450’s
I'd love it if they had their regular group of test riders and then added in a average guy that can't whip the bike, barely clear a tabletop and wouldn't ever attempt to hit a triple(ME!) but just loves to ride and get their opinion as well. Great review though, always enjoy watching the shiny colors going as fast as they were designed to go!
Coming from a guy who has had kx250f’s, ktm 250f’s and a Honda, I test rode a yz250f and absolutely fell in love with it. Sure it might not be the best for my string bean ass with the height, but the bike just worked, and worked well. Suspension was better stock, than my A Kit on my ktm, plus you don’t have to deal with the constant air bubbles in the clutch line like the piles of shit called ktms
As always, nice work on the shootout but the crappy / too loud 'music' someone in final editing decides that absolutely must be included to add 'excitement' unfortunately is just real annoying.
I'm still patiently waiting on the off road 350 shootout. Especially the Beta 350RR race edition vs the gas gas ex350f.......heck throw in the yz250fx since it's the only Japanese bike that even has a 6 speed transmission.
