one of 2 things, Either they ask like 100 people and pick out 10 that are the dumbest + in US the mostly learn about US, in history they only rougly learn about worldwide history but they mostly focus on US history, same goes for Geography. If you ask US person to name you every single state, they would have no issue with that but when you ask them to name a single European, Asian or African country, they wouldnt be able to tell Spain apart from France.

I'm European myself, so I'm not trying to hold a candle for the US here, but I'm pretty sure that if you ask enough people here in Europe - doesn't matter which country - you'll find more than enough idiots as well. Here in Austria we had (maybe still have, I don't know) a radio segment where they interviewed people with stupid questions, and those got answered wrongly as well. Stuff like "Sind Sie dafür dass die Schneefallgrenze angehoben wird?" (Are you in favor of raising the snow line?). And yes, people demanded that the snow line has to rise. And questions like that were a daily segment... so... yeah...

@@pixel-rageunbound1935 So, what about the questions which were related heavily to USA geography or history?
Also, why every time some internet video points how lacking is the knowledge (that's not intellect, knowledge is learned, and nobody is born with it) in regard to geography in the United States, somebody try defending it with 'but foreigners cannot name the US states'. First due to the exposure to the US culture via movies, series and such I can name at least 3 ... not to say most of them.
Second, can you name all of the regions and other separate parts of China or Russia? If we're talking size difference (because most times when somebody say, 'can you point the regions of a certain European country', US defenders state that their country is bigger) - China is two, nearly three times as big as the States and also have a bit more inhabitants, while Russa have a bit more land mass, like four times bigger.
I won't argue about the video, there are a lot of uneducated people, in my country there are plenty with finished 8th grade who know only how to write their name and to work as slaves. Which just shows that you need good education for a country to be prosperous.

Greetings From 🇺🇲, Teacher report cards are called EOGs ( end- of-grade testing). President Bush, Sr. and his 'Leave No Child Behind Act' marks the origin of a downward spiral of education. States/Schools/Teachers quickly
focused teaching around those stupid tests in effort to maintain federal funding and job preservation over the betterment of students.
Next came political correctness. Most recently, woke social and political ideology reared it's ugly head and that's ushering in Idiocracy. Elites draw nearer to accomplishing an end goal, for it's easier to control a Nation of morons. If we, as a Nation, don't put a stop to the insanity that's being shoved down our throats from every direction, I fear, within a few generations people really will be watering fields with Gatorade if they are allowed to grow crops in the first place. On a lower note, not only are kids being taught that 2+2=The Number They Like That Day, because there are no wrong answers, many are also are taught how to provide "good" oral s*x in middle school. It's INSANE and vile what they are doing to our kids. If you haven't seen the movie "Idiocracy" you should.

As someone who worked in the education system, the real issue is the lack of accountability of the STUDENTS and their parents who think we are supposed to just pass their students. No Child Left Behind and Every Child Succeeds both failed children. Instead of learning, they are learning to pass or cheat on tests, which does not help them apply knowledge. And when students fail, it's the teachers who are blamed, not the students who want to goof off in class or their parents who are too busy working to care about their children's inappropriate behavior in school. Work in a school system as a volunteer for a year and you'll see why kids are failing. It's because of their parents.

He pointed out how messed up our system was when everyone went wild cheering for athletes but nobody showed any recognition of the importance of students in medical field who wanted to save lives or teachers who wanted to educate our children & others in vital fields that he asked to rise & stand for recognition .

I'm an early Millennial - the education I received in school was utterly inferior to the one my parents received: and I watched - even as a child - education become worse in that I knew I was expected to memorize answers for tests; without understanding the material. I knew then, in fairly early grade school, that I was not being taught how to think or how to use logic or how to solve problems: I was only being trained to repeat correct answers, nothing more.
Also - again - I watched as it only got worse before I even graduated. I'm not even talking about a generation of decline such as my parents to me: no - it got even worse while I was still in school. I watched the material become more and more direct, more obtuse, more narrow. There was less explanation, there was less experimentation, there was less abstraction in how topics were viewed and examined. Near the end the material was barely even gone over it was just "Here's the topic - know this answer - here's what the questions will look like - you are to know these specific answers - bye."
There was absolutely no conceptual understanding involved, of any kind, at all. Yeah, of course kids _"taught"_ like that are dumb as shit: they've literally never been given the task of attempting to process information and use logical deduction to figure anything out. They "know" what they have been told, in so far as one can actually remember discordant and discombobulated random tidbits of information: which - spoiler - you actually can't. So not only do they have an egregiously hindered, lamed, stunted cognitive capacity for extrapolation, abstraction and concept formation: but even what they were taught and memorized - get's lost days after they take their test because the human brain doesn't tend to remember random things with no other associative information present to retain it.
The U.S. education system is quite literally, non-figuratively, unironically, damaging children's brains by impairing their cognitive capabilities: perhaps permanently, I do not know if the damage can be reversed later in life - they may be permanently impaired by not having formed necessary neural mapping during their formative years. We may be walking into Idiocracy made manifest in 10 years when these functionally retarded kids become a substantive portion of working age adults.

    • @ObservingLibertarian
      @ObservingLibertarian Год назад +33

@@vahidoph While I don't disagree with you, I think you're underestimating how stupid these kids are. Example: "what countries border the US" - an example you brought up - lets examine that question. Do the kids asked in the video - know, actually know - what it *means* to "border" something? Likely - the only time they've really heard the word "border" such as "a border" or "the border" - it was in reference to the U.S.-Mexico border and all the people crossing it illegally.
What I'm proposing to you is that you have under-estimated just how drastic their lack of cognition is. That they can repeat words, like "border" - and use language in ways they have heard people use it: but they those kids may genuinely not actually know what that word means. Their "understanding" of the word "border" may not be _a barrier or boundary between two differentiated things:_ but rather - a specific line between the U.S. and Mexico. They may, sincerely, not understand the *concept* of a border and therefore the question genuinely confused them.
That's the kind of lack of cognition I'm talking about: repetition without comprehension. That's what you get when you teach children to be parrots, repeating correct answers - without actually teaching them to conceptually understand the material.

Mostly they want success without honest work and discipline. Successful people are disciplined at whatever they do to achieve success and keep it. They set limits and boundaries.

I’ve had a geography high school American teacher absolutely livid and furious with me, accusing me of mocking him when I tried to convince him that Portugal was not a province of Mexico .
He simply didn’t understood why I was insisting Portugal was part of the Hibernia peninsula and we are located in Europe in it with Spain next to us. Not in South America.
He got furious to the extent of not hiring me to illustrate his children’s book about world geography because he simply couldn’t not accept that I was not making fun of him. He knew very well about the world, he was a geography teacher with a degree and a geography teacher for more than twenty five years in America. He knew.
And he knew I was mocking him by trying to say Portugal is not located in Mexico.
Also , I had another client , telling me that everyone in America knew that in Portugal everyone is black because Portuguese were a black race and only English or Irish people in Europe were real white people. He accused me of photoshopping my photo to take out “the blackness” in my skin because everyone knows in America that there are no white people in Portugal. It’s seems we’re a black country now. 😂
But much of this is hollywoods fault too. Modern American movies keep ignoring Portugal and confusing our historic figures with Spanish ones too. The recent Uncharted game adaptation movie even presented Portuguese discoveries and Portuguese explorers and navigators as Spanish and made the hiberia peninsula look like it was all occupied by Spain totally ignoring the location or existence of Portugal.
In America to this day many people think Magellan was a Spanish navigator and explorer instead of a Portuguese one. And many times in American movies they attribute to Spain historical feats and historical figures that are actually Portuguese , not Spanish. 😂Magellan is an English name for the real navigator Portuguese name Magalhães (Fernão De Magalhães in its real name) that English speaking persons have difficulty to pronounce. But everyone in America seems to think it’s from Spain and not from Portugal. Even National Geographic documentaries get this wrong. 😂 So no wonder the average American has no clue about the world.
