    Story 6: they are not required to be trained at least in my state. My mom was a PA in a family practice and would get patients that came in with no history of emotional issues, but wanted to move to a place that didn’t allow pets or wouldn’t allow a certain type of dog so they would ask her to diagnose that the patient needed an emotional support animal. This was done solely to either exempt them from any pet fee, to skip the no pet restriction, or to exempt the breed restriction. So yeah some people legitimately may need an animal for support and get them trained, but more people than we’d like to believe use it as a scam to get their way without any actual medical need. Which harms the people that genuinely need them. Btw my mom wouldn’t ever sign these for emotional or physical support as she felt that was something a specialist needed to evaluate and not a family practice office which only dealt with general medical issues. She would instead refer them to the specialist, in the US most specialists like cardiologist, psychiatrist, pulmonologist etc. require a referral from a family practice or general practitioner in order to see that specialist at all, that would address whatever issue that felt they required that specialized animal for.

      In CA or at least in it's Capital, a law was passed that if there's no training the animal can not be officially permitted as a support animal, allowing businesses to deny the animal

    For the sober wedding…. It feels like husband to be has been traumatised/embarrassed on other big days of his life (birthdays, grad etc) by his mothers alcoholism, and is scared it’s going to happen again at their wedding. His mum seems to be doing well and is probably a minimal risk for their wedding day, but I think that as it is months away yet, it might be a good idea to address his concerns with a therapist and even with his mum directly so he can alleviate his concerns and have a beautiful wedding day. 😊

    So I say he is a 1 or 2. As someone who is afraid of dogs, bringing a dog into my home would make it not a safe space for me. Additionally I’m over the top clean and my problem with having a dog would also be they can’t be truly clean (not their fault my standards are just too high and I know that). So people saying he couldn’t be an asscon 1 aren’t thinking that she likely doesn’t feel safe or comfortable in her house because of the dog….

    i've heard the update for story 6, and she had severe trauma from a dog attack. she begged him not to get a dog and he claimed it was a service animal so that he could justify having the dog. imo he's an ascon 1 because he knew about her past and continually forced her to live with an animal that wasn't trained and scared her. imo he put his selfish desire to have a dog over his wife's mental health again and again and he's definitely ascon 1.

    Super weird that the dude in the last story got all his feelings destroyed over one kid being a picky eater… just wild
    I’m autistic, and when i was a kid, had issue trying new foods, and thrived in routine. So every friday we tried something new. It made trying new things a part of my routine and that made it easier to be excited for these meals, rather than feeling out of my depth. OP might give something like that a try. Where most meals are ‘safe meals’ and slowly start to incorporate trying new things into routine. Even if her son is not autistic, kids in general can get weird about change.

    • @DancerMusicanActress

      I was a picky eater, still kind of am, but the rule in my family was that I had to try everything. My family was good with knowing which things I really could not stand. For me it's usually a texture thing. If that kid is used to fairly bland food the change in diet may also be hard on his gut.

    My issue with the one where the mom was alcoholic is that there has been alcohol around the mom before. Clearly it's not an issue for her, if he doesn't feel comfortable with there being alcohol then he needs to be open and honest about it.

    Esa's do not have to be registered or certified in most states, but you can if you choose. They just can't go into public places as a traditional service animal. If he has a letter or diagnosis from his doctor, she can't do anything about it, unless the dog injuries someone or damages someone's property. In most situations they are protected under certain rules. He's not an asshole.

    For story 6, the guy is the ah for disrespecting his wife and also not apologizing to his wife for what the dog did and not offering to make it better after. What about the son? What happened to his birthday party? Honestly in my opinion a support animal should be much better trained than that. The dog needs training and the couple needs therapy for all the issues mentioned. My goodness.

    Story 7, sorry this speaks volumes about her. You can’t have fun with out alcohol? And your family wants it. But maybe his family doesn’t and doesn’t wanna be tempted. And yes they should have talked about before. But just listen to what she said “we can’t have fun without alcohol.”What does this say about the rest of the people that we can’t have fun without alcohol? So, unless I’m drunk I don’t want to be around you?

    I'm saying this before Dusty gives his response, but I'm going against the crowd on the story of the dad who said he doesn't want to attend his daughters wedding on his ex-wife's land.
    Who knows why their marriage dissolved, but considering how old they are and how quickly she remarried, it's reasonable to suspect she was unfaithful.
    But even if not, he has every right to his feelings, and if he doesn't want to see his ex-wife and her new husband, that's OK.
    It sounds like he's still willing to help cover some of the cost too. He just doesn't feel comfortable attending under those circumstances. I suspect if the gender roles were reversed, more people would support the mom if she was too uncomfortable to attend.
    At any rate, I do think, based on the information given, that the daughter was wrong to storm off on her dad. I'd probably give her an ASCON 3 or 2, because she seems very insensitive and entitled with the situation.

    • @LaunchPadMcQuack4Hire
      @LaunchPadMcQuack4Hire Год назад +2

      Also, I just want to point out that he didn't threaten to withdraw financial help or insist they change venues or uninvited his ex or her husband. He just didn't want to put himself in a painful situation.
      Yes, he waited a while before bringing it up, but I'd imagine that's because he really wanted to be ok with it and not make any waves. But I'm the end, it looks like he just couldn't handle it.
      And his daughter tells him it's just a "stupid feud," yells at him, and storms out. That just doesn't strike me as ok, even if she is frustrated.

    • @steph0711
      @steph0711 Год назад +1

      @@LaunchPadMcQuack4Hire I actually agree with you. Calling it a "stupid feud" is very insensitive. He should've been more honest and talk to her earlier, but she could be a lot more understanding of his feelings too. Why even do it on her mother's land if she knew there could be a problem? And she knew coz she asked him multiple times. Saving money or not, if she wants him there so bad, she should've done it somewhere else

  • @jamiekemp1850
    @jamiekemp1850 Месяц назад

    So on the last story, you’re like he shouldn’t be so butt hurt. But if he was a woman and somebody else’s defiant child kept picking at her skills for over a year, y’all wouldn’t be upset if she was like I’m done. Y’all can’t have two standards in this. Number two you don’t know if the child is defiant in other areas as well, this just might be the biggest issue that they have. And yes, he might be a picky eater because he has other issues Or, he is being spoiled by his mother who said that she thought it would just be easier to not have to actually have proper diet. So instead of ganging up on this man, we should think maybe there might be other issues as well because not all kids have allergies or other issues. It could be this kid doesn’t what the new family dynamic.

  • @LaunchPadMcQuack4Hire
    @LaunchPadMcQuack4Hire Год назад

    I feel like I'm the odd one out with these rulings, but I think if anything, the wife is a bigger asshole in the one with the dog and KFC.
    If he truly needed an emotional support animals, she was dead wrong to try to deny that. If he just made that up so he could get a dog, of course he'd be wrong for that as well.
    And if he didn't bother to train the dog, he'd also be an asshole, probably an ascon 2 or 3.
    But she sounds like an ascon 1 with her behavior: trying to stop him from getting an emotional support dog, demanding he rehomes it all the time, screaming and cussing him out when she gets upset, and then giving him an ultimatum (it's me or the dog). She sounds awful!
