- Former US Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, discusses Israel entering Rafah and whether or not he sees this as a tactic to negotiate a temporary cease-fire agreement or an actual ground invasion. He states that there's a good chance for a temporary cease-fire, and shares if he thinks President Biden is doing enough to address the criticism he has received in regards to his policy on Israel and his handling of the various protests on college campuses. Leon Panetta speaks with Kailey Leinz on Bloomberg's "Balance of Power."

Let’s be realistic: The trends in the Democratic party are not favorable for Israel. Israel will not be able to depend on reliable support from the USA during future Democratic administrations. The Republican party is becoming isolationist in posture so while they will be more reliably pro Israel in their public statements, Israel shouldn’t expect much material help from future Republican administrations either. If I was an Israeli I would make my future national security strategy less dependent on the USA.
The Democratic Party may split apart over this issue. Biden should have sided with Israel and told Islamists and Leftists to go pound sand. He could have picked up a lot of moderate voters who have abandoned the Trump Party.
