      What color ghost babies do you get by breeding different ghost colors?

    • @kgaquaticsk2946
      @kgaquaticsk2946  3 года назад +2

      @@SS-dr8hp It depends on the coloration, Usually if you breed like a fireball with a Tricolord it would be a extra red ghost. Same if you breed a blue ghost with a tricolord it would be extra blue. But it depends on the genetics and if they are dominant or a recessive gene.

      @@SS-dr8hp I have a video on breeding crayfish linked ,ruclips.net/video/if4UR5uHha4/видео.html Its not all about ghosts but its general information and I do actually breed my ghost and fireball in the video, A good way to get information is by joining a crayfish group on Facebook or something like that. For a book I love this one www.amazon.com/Invertebrates-Shrimp-Crayfish-Freshwater-Aquaria/dp/3944821068 However It doesn't go to in depth on breeding.
      Also a article that helped me alot was this gcaquatics.wixsite.com/gcaquatics/single-post/2017/03/22/breeding-ghost-crayfish

    I have a snakeskin blue moon in a 10g for about 3 weeks now. My substrate is crushed coral and I have hard water, should be plenty of calcium in the water. He has a nice cave that he hides in with driftwood and rocks. So far he seems very happy and has a healthy appetite. As far as filtration I have a Fluval C2 hob filter running full stream and an undergravel filter with 2 Tetra air pumps rated at 10g each, 1 on each side.

    • @kgaquaticsk2946
      @kgaquaticsk2946  Год назад

      They will take any chance they can to get a fish. Keep them well feed and you can reduce the risk but it’s always a possibility. Most of the time they can only catch sick or dying fish. My main problems with crayfish and fish actually came from the fish killing the crayfish. I had a white crayfish in a 55 gallon live planted tank with some angel fish and giant danios. When the crayfish molted it only took minutes for the fish to realize that and kill him. The angel fish would not leave him alone and by the time I realized what was going on it was to lake. So with any sort of semi aggressive crayfish it kind of works until one day it doesn’t…

    I recently have a ghost crayfish and it ice a dark spot under her gills when the other side is clear and not dark could this be a parasite if so how do I go about removing it?

    • @kgaquaticsk2946
      @kgaquaticsk2946  3 года назад +2

      It could just be her colors, ghost crayfish have very randomized pigmentations so what they have on one side might look completely different from the other. However because I can’t see it I band be sure. With crayfish internal parasites are almost impossible to remove. The best recommendation I could give for a internal parasite is to add a slight salinity or chemical change. Look up before you do to see what procambarus clarkii can handle chemical wise. The idea is to find a way to create conditions the crayfish can survive but not the parasite. With my Zebra Crayfish, cherax peknyi I added her into a bowl once a week with warm salt and eventually I stoped seeing the worms and 4 months later she is fine and healthy. For external parasites you can simply use a soft bristle tooth brush to rub them of... hope this helps

      Dont listen to her. Its It's more than possible to keep crayfish with fish depending on the circumstances. You have to get right fish. Have the right tank and environment and make sure you feed your crayfish daily especially at night so that they will definitely have something to eat and will lessen the chances of the crayfish ambushing your fish. But again nature happens. But I'm talking from experience I have fish in my tank with my crayfish.

    Cordially

    • @kgaquaticsk2946
      @kgaquaticsk2946  2 года назад +1

      Sadly I just lost my cherax peknyi as well, presumably due to old age, after all I had her over two years and she was huge when I got her. From what you are describing it seems as though your crayfish had an issue forming a new shell, or her old exoskeleton was to hard due to intense amounts of calcium in the environment. To much or to little calcium can result in stuck molts and there’s really not much you can do when it happens. I’ve lost several crayfish to this including my ghost who even got out of the molt, however never reformed a tough enough shell. And the same exact thing as your description happens to my Red claw. I have reduced the chances of this happing by supplementing them with calcium to help them regenerate a new shell around the time they are due for a molt. But unfortunately there is really not a sure way to prevent this from happening. I hope you have better luck and this helps. I haven’t uploaded in a while because my entire procambarus clarkii collection died of old age and the stores near me can’t seem to import any crayfish and haven’t for the last two years where I was primarily selling my batches of babies to. Now that my zebra died I really don’t have anything to film until the pet stores get more crayfish imported. But when they do I will definitely keep marking videos. Good luck on your crayfish!
