    I’m considering starting an online store where you could buy live crayfish and shrimp, food and treats for them, and many other pet crustacean products shipped straight to you. I want to know if you guys think it is a good idea, and if you had the option, would you buy from it? Everything would be sustainable and priced well and come from a good home so you guys wouldn't have to get stuff from anywhere sketchy again. Would you guys be interested?

    Can you breed the standard Aussie Yabbi to achieve more vibrant colours? By selectively breeding?

    • @crustaceansaustralia
      @crustaceansaustralia  5 месяцев назад +1

      Probably, but it would take a while to plan and get everything to work. I assume to breed a cool colour scheme for some Yabbies, you would need to either interbreed with already colourful relatives of Cherax Destructor that are genetically close enough to breed and produce offspring or find one specific individual Yabbi that already has the desired genetic trait or colour that you want and they breed that crayfish. The hard bit would be getting the actual crayfish. People have done it in the past with different species so it is certainly possible.

    Hi..new to ur vids..i have a blue in a 60. Hes in my tank with blue tiger barbs and the barbs just leave him alone. Is one cave enough for him. He loves explorering the tank and diging. Is this set up ok for him?

    • @crustaceansaustralia
      @crustaceansaustralia  Месяц назад +1

      That sounds like a decent enough setup! As long as they have something to hide and moult in, then it will be perfectly fine. You also added some rocks/sand for it to play with which is also really good for them.

    • @jessicacarrasco4892
      @jessicacarrasco4892 Месяц назад

      He has flat rocks to dig under old snail shells he loves puting in front of his cave that he covers the front door I call and leaves the back that he comes out of. I don't have sand I hate dealing with it. I have very small river rock that's made for scales fish so there's no sharpness to it and its small were he digs and mound it up. .this is my first time with one so I've been going through all ur viedos watching them.

    I have two crayfish that I recently moved both from a 30 gallon tank to a 10. They both became inactive, they stay together hidden day and night and I haven’t seen them come out, nor eat anything I’ve given them, anything helps

    • @crustaceansaustralia
      @crustaceansaustralia  Год назад

      Crayfish can very picky and odd when it comes to their tanks. I have never kept 2 crayfish together in any tank because sometimes they annoy each other so maybe try taking one out? I think your crayfish probably dislikes it’s new tank/tank mate so it is acting strange. Also crayfish can be very shy so they could be eating when your not watching. Normally I would only keep one crayfish in a 10 gallon but it depends on the species/size. My crayfish used to have similar habitats.

      Thanks a ton! I got my crayfish from a pet store. Most of the time they are sold as food for other fish or as smaller pets in a tank. Make sure to keep an eye out for "lobsters" since crayfish get a few names. Thanks

    my yabbies will ONLY eat algae eater wafers and is that ok?

    • @crustaceansaustralia
      @crustaceansaustralia  9 месяцев назад

      It probably isn't the best option in the long run but most algae wafers have most of the essential nutrients that your crayfish needs so I guess it will be alright for now. try experimenting with other foods and leaving them in the tank for a while to see if your crayfish can eat anything else. Good luck!

    I need help,
    My yabbies are outside and for some reasons blood worms are in the small rock things at the bottom

    • @crustaceansaustralia
      @crustaceansaustralia  2 года назад

      ok, so if you don't want your yabbies outside then try putting them in a tank inside instead of a pond outside or other habitats outside. I don't know if the worms are ok for your yabbies but I recently fed my crayfish some worms: ruclips.net/video/hPPG4Nu5Nmk/видео.html. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

      Thanks for commenting. I couldn't find the video but here are my tips for finding crayfish genders: males are normally bigger with larger claws than females. There are official ways to tell by looking at the underside of a crayfish but I'm not an expert on this. Another tip is that some crayfish have different colourings for males and females.
