This *really really* helped me get the pattern down I never realized I was tense until you explained the rotations Edit: I always found the melody of this song to be so Incredibly beautiful and intense
I love your tutorials, especially the analysis. Knowing what is going on really makes the practicing easier. It's not just learning a bunch of notes. It's understanding why these notes have been chosen etc. And, of course, I love that you make the piece accessible to anyone. Thank you so much.
@@_quixote How is "Für Elise" going? I have been told it's only for intermidate beginners, so I focused a bit more on getting every bit of the basics to a pretty decent level, before attempting it.
You teach piano the way most piano teachers should, but don't. I took piano for 8 years, but feel that I have little to show for it. My piano teachers didn't teach theory beyond just knowing the notes. What they didn't understand is that knowing the theory, patterns, and form of the music actually makes learning and comprehending the music so much better and easier. I got some composition books, talked to my music teachers in school, and taught myself theory. I learned how to play by ear a bit. I can play many pop songs by ear now...but classical, jazz, and other difficult pieces that I actually like are a bit hard. I don't have naturally good hand coordination. Its actually exceptionally bad, and I have to practice a lot to make my hands do what my brain has been doing. I quit piano lessons senior year of High School once I realized that my piano teacher didn't know theory at all. She said "you can't have a minor major 7! Chords are either minor or major, not both! Minor major 7 is not a real chord!" and "Half Diminished?! Chords can't be half diminished!!" all the same she could sight read like no other person I've ever seen. Put any music in front of that woman and she can play it perfectly first try. I was annoyed and decided that she wasn't going to teach me jazz or how to actually understand music. More teachers need to be like you. Break it down by inversions of chords, use theory, and explain techniques to get your hand to move right.

Hand rotation is effective but then it gets smaller as you increase the tempo.
