It's been a long time since I've done hydra, so I came back to this video to brush up before I went in. While I'm here, I want to thank you for what you do. Your videos intersect perfectly at simplicity and depth, and I believe you to be the best bossing guide that the community currently has.
most of it is still on point, but as of 8 months ago there is still a lot youd want to change, with the release of thralls/bp nerf/many other things, i would only follow this guide partly
Thank you sooooo much for this guide! I used lance melee for my first 500 kills and then tried ranged but just couldn't get the hang of it ... your tiles and positioning in this guide made all the difference for me. Can't thank you enough!
@@shawover3098 After about 50kc with the dhcb I prefer the lance it seems way more consistent, but that may be because I've done so many kills with the lance that I had it down to a fine art. I'll give it a few hundred kc and see. Hopefully I see a claw or pet in that time 😅 hahah
@@jakobthekid thats sad but i cant understand how you didnt notice and turn around right away. its not exactly a quick death. with 99 hp 4 dmg per tick thats a whole 15 secs of burn to die

This guide is just top tier. Those tile markers made it a million times easier to get kills without really thinking much. Literally made the fight make sense
*more pro tips* - *Bring a Bonecrusher Necklace swap* (8 prayer points per kill, it's like a guaranteed 2-3 prayer pots every 10 kills) - *Bring a Holy Wrench for extra prayer restore if your level is in the +2 sweet-spot* (check wiki page to see which level ranges) people would say this isn't worth over an extra prayer pot, but depending on prayer level and Super Restore drops, its worth - *At the start of each kill pray Protect from Magic* + *Rigour/Piety to minimize chance of being hit* , same while running by small hydras (if you're wearing Armadyl then I believe you should protect Ranged + Augury) -Also divine potting + half summer pie + anglerfish is a nice start at the bank *Ring of Suffering > Ring of the Gods* - you don't need to spend 18m for a holy wrench passive. Seriously, whoever put that as best in slot for this boss on the wiki is delusional.
Good guide! I did the dhcb+bp switch and haven’t died yet in my first ever 25 hydra kills with 1:54 pb :) i removed a couple tile markers tho, but other than that this guide is perfect!
Finally!! I just got 95 slayer the other day ( 2 days ago) been doing konar hoping for hydra task.. after already getting down to 560k till 96 slayer I finally got the hydra task I've been waiting so long to try. Now reality hit me.. lol I'm not very good at pvming newer bosses that have different phases like hydra, zulrah, ect.. so I got nervous and was doubting myself until I found this guide. Been watching your guides for a while and thought it was time to say thanks, great detail and organization so even a noob like me can boss, keep up the good work!
In my experience, I found using Full Armadyl/pegs/archer ring to give faster kills because of the accuracy bonus. I would say on average it is about 15-20 seconds faster per kill to use BIS DPS over the crystal armor and prayer bonus gear. Yes, it doesn't increase your max hit because of the cap hit of 83, but you will be more accurate, so less 0s with the inaccurate twisted bow. I have tried both ways and have over 2500 kills at Hydra. It really depends on what you want. If you are looking for an extremely long trip, then bring BIS prayer. I personally have gotten 60 kills in one trip and on average around 40 kills/trip with BIS prayer gear, granted there were restore drops in that 60 kill trip. That is over 2 hours of non-stop killing assuming you get 25 kills/hr. With BIS DPS gear, I usually get around 25 kills/trip which is about an hour of killing Hydra, and have gotten up to 45 kills with restore drops. I don't mind banking every hour and like the increased DPS. So in short, if you want to have longer trips at Hydra, then bring BIS prayer. If you want faster kills (or maybe you only have an hour to play), then bring BIS DPS.
So pegs instead of devout? I feel like suffering has more dps than archers i tho. Also is dragon hunter crossbow not faster than tbow? Kinda like vork. I dont like the idea of blow piping either. Meh
@@effyouceeekay one prayer bonus item may not make a huge difference such as devout boots in terms of DPS, but if you switch to higher prayer gear in general at Hydra, then you’ll for sure notice a difference in DPS. A suffering only provides DPS if you’re taking damage. At Hydra, you can go a whole kill without taking any damage if you switch prayers correctly and are lucky with the correct prayer at the beginning. Tbow is definitely better at Hydra because it strength scales with magic level. Hydra has a magic level of 250, max hit is 83 with tbow. Vorkath has a magic level of 150, which means the max hit would be probably in the low 70s. DHCB provides better DPS with ruby bolts at Vorkath because Vorkath has higher HP than Hydra so the special can hit a 100. It can’t hit that high at Hydra because of Hydra has lower HP.
@@Camander i believe vorkath has 1k hp vs hydra 1100 Edit: i just checked and hydra has 1100 hp and vorkath has 750 so it would be 35% better or so. did you by chance mean it the otherway around
i hit 95 slayer today, wooo go me. just wanted to add, kourend diary hard (3) gives you 3 teleports to konar per day, also helps, then its fairy rings rest of the day. nice guide thanks. loved all the guides you got me through a lot of slayer actually thanks my guy.

PSA for players who don’t want to waste the hydra bones for whatever reason (you could be an Ironman who wants prayer xp or a main who wants to get max profit per kill). I bring one divine range pot and one sip of antidote and five prayer potions. My trips are shorter, and I get less kills per hour. However, I pick up and bank the majority of the bones I get as loot. It’s worth it in my opinion. However, if I had a tbow and 99 prayer I probably wouldn’t though.
Be me. Reach Slayer 95 and get an Hydra task. Wonder "How hard will the highest level Slayer monster be? I should check a guide." Watch your guide. Get 5 combat achievements, including Alcleanical Hydra, on the first kill. WELP, that guide was PRETTY good I'd say!
During the blue phase you're losing 2 or 3 opportunities to hit hydra since you're not running and hitting, if you use the other lightning skip method you don't lose any attacks.
I’m guessing it would be better to switch to diamond bolts if you’re using DHCB. Since his reasoning was to use blowpipe over diamond bolts for DPS, I’d conclude that diamond bolts will be better after the bp nerf.
flame skip is easier if you click after the second wave of fire hits the west wall. also how do you deal with the blue phase becomes red while it is still on the green vent?
Hey man, appreciate the video, really helped with the flame skipping portion. I'm confused on the amount of tiles you have marked for the green phase and the transition to the blue phase and dodging that special attack. Any pointers? I understand the first two green tiles, one to lure onto the vent and the next to dodge acid, but after that, is it fine to just run to the last green tile and wait for the transition? I keep getting smashed by the electric specs.
update: I died. (10% hp last phase didnt dodge poison and fucked up my prays lmfao ) but I got to that last phase very easily thanks to this guide, now it just comes down to my skill level as a player, thank you.

That method is generally faster than just using a BP. If you can get your mechanics down and achieve the best kills per hour you’ll achieve better profit as well.
Yes, but I don't see why you would as slayer helm always out-DPS's it. The only place elite void is better than slayer helm is at Vorkath because the Salve amulet boost doesn't stack with the latter.
If you’re using a twisted bow, the assembler isnt going to do much more for you because of the built in damage and accuracy multiplier against monsters with high magic. It’s more beneficial to have the additional prayer and defense bonuses the range cape or max cape gives with a vorkath head attached to it. If you’re using anything other than a twisted bow, the assembler would be a better choice.
Literally just got my 3rd hydra task in a row (cape perk) .trying to rebuild after a stupidly going to the sand casino . Will be 2800kc + when Im done with current task still waiting for pet 😔. Anyhow love the guides! Maybe you can do a new Cerberus one now that it is a demon the Arclight would be interesting to see in action

wouldn't blessed vambraces be better than barrows gloves with tbow, since it gives 1 extra prayer and you only lose 1 ranged attack bonus? Also could use holy wrap for +3 prayer bonus and losing all ranged attack bonus.

Hardest part about hydra is getting a task
Thats why I did turiel, 9 easy tasks such as rats, then do the 10th at konar, free 90 points. And you dont have to reset your streak that way.

After dodging the acid, yeah can do whatever you want at that point. I just have the tiles there to show the way down and lure it to the next spot.

Everything you see in this guide will be the exact same with the twisted bow. Any ranged weapon can be used by following this guide.

What is tile 14 supposed to do? You don't use it in your example

Nothing special on my end. Maybe the RuneLite GPU plug-in. That’s all I use.

the basic attack is random or we can predict it? cause i see you, look like u know what next will be atking you
Only the first set of attacks its random. 50/50 mage/range. After that it’s just 3 attacks then switch.
