I agree 💯. I always have extra on hand. Mainly just for the freebies. One thing that really sets me off is people ordering T's or ordering mystery boxes and saying this is only temporary. Didn't have time to set up enclosures. If you ordered it, you know it's coming. It's that simple. I started chaos on Facebook on this very thing. I have 75 T's and just started keeping in February of this year. I always keep extra setups.

End of summer is the best time to grab your bags of soil, a lot of places sell them of at the end of the season. I got a couple of huge bags for £1.50 each from the co-op of all places lol. Also the end of the summer holidays is when a lot of shops reduce their "lunchboxes" most of them work great as enclosures.
As we all know free is best lol so if you've got any woodland nearby it can be a treasure trove of substrate, moss, branches etc. As long as its not right next to the road as you have to be careful of pollutants from the traffic.
Daves little beasties has a video of him collecting freebies from nature, recommend giving that a watch.

I rem when moss and other bits from the woods came into the hobby , it took to do a video so people were not scared to do the same incase of alien parasites from Mars or summit lol

nice vid mate , loads of great info ( humidity is not measured by how wet the substrate is, but by moisture in the air )

Pretty much, vermiculite and perlite hold the moisture and release it slowly keeping humidity high for a longer period instead of soil drying out fast and causing a spike followed quickly by a low
