Sounds pretentious to say it but I genuinely think they're the closest thing that the 2010s has to Radiohead & The Beatles. Started out playing fairly generic of-the-era rock & then a couple albums in, for whatever reason (probably psychedelics and/or an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world), their minds cracked wide open & their sounds all progressed in astonishing ways. Imagine if John & Paul or Thom & Jonny were just starting off their careers a decade ago, their sensibilities would naturally be way more disparate because of how easy it is to sample so much diverse music. Gizz are a bit like the vanguards of infinite digital content, showing how a band can make the most of the attention deficit era we all find ourselves in.

Easily two of the best concerts I've attended over 50 years of seeing rock bands in their Prime. Greetings from the sunny Guildford, mate! The KGLW Gila Monster RUclips video has entire lyrics in its description below. When using a reference headphones, it was easier for me to separate vocalists voices from the music. Watching in 4K helps overcome the RUclips video compression, where I could see, that everything except band members is CGI, what's more, the CGI is deliberately stylised on time ranging from 90s to 10s. 11/8 is the time signature of that section. To work out ant time signature, first one must find the highest note value subdivision of this cycle, then you can count the beats within that cycle. In this case there are eleven eight beats. (Yes, their riff goes to 11.) lyrically and in the video, the song is a back and forth between a story teller(?) and the gila monster itself, with the remaining four band members in the video playing a sort of wiccan role in summoning the gila monster. i’m sure i’m not entirely correct, but that’s the just as far as i know

Justin: "Oh no, my shirt has a giant rip in it and is completely ruined."
[Puts in on and wears it all day]
I have done some time, and when someone notices it, i simply say... "Oh, it just has broken!" 😂
Ooo 7 string riffage! Absolutely love love this! 🤘🏻💫🎸
Druid metal!
really just 6 strings in drop B. Check out Stu's Holy Explorer!
Give the song Iron Lung a shot, it's kind of in the middle between this and Catching Smoke on the pop/metal spectrum and imho their best tune
One of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life.
It's a colorful trippy visual video, too
Iron Lung is one of my favorite tracks of theirs. And the music video is sooooo trippy and cool
Have you had a listen to Bloodywood? They are amazing 😊
Love your channel Justin and all your intelligent commentary (And sense of fun and humor!). So much depth and references and you are so quick about it. New subscriber! Are all rock musicians at your high level as educated as you? I am so impressed. Love the channel!
lyrically and in the video, the song is a back and forth between a story teller(?) and the gila monster itself, with the remaining four band members in the video playing a sort of wiccan role in summoning the gila monster. i’m sure i’m not entirely correct, but that’s the just as far as i know
PetroDragon🐉🤺Apocalypse, released June 16th. I recommend you listen to that whole album especially Motor Spirit. A true modern masterpiece dealing with our devolving times, the most relevant and brave album fired💣 in many a moon 🌚 The boys are fighting for us with all the love they can muster up up.💛
I hope he listens to Dragon, which is on another level compared to Gila Monster. It goes super hard.
sooo excited to see these guys play live on this tour, favorite era by far
Hey Queens of the stone age just came out with another song called "Carnivore" its awesome
I fucking love them so much. I always get shivers when I listen to their music. I love their incorp of fantasy into rock and psychedelic and just a shit ton of genres. They always have the signature YUP. Literally all of them are amazing musicians and creative genuises. Im waiting for their ska album.
I liked this song! Great show Justin!
This band is incredible. See them live if you can.
I was slow to love these guys but they are amazing. They do whatever the hell they want and it rocks.
The greatest band of the modern age. I'm totally biased as a massive Gizzhead, but their versatility is unparalleled.
Hands down they are the greatest band of the last decade! I like to think only true rock listeners will agree
Lmao 😂
I love the fact they are doing whatever the fudge they want to do and a label is supporting that. It's bloody refreshing and I love it.
They OWN the label😅
I can't pretend to understand them either, but I really like some of their stuff. Also not being a musician, I don't usually try to understand much of music anyway, do I like this or not is about the depth of my analysis...
I will give this new song a good listen, thanks for the heads up !
King Gizz is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get. This song didn't work for me at all, but it's interesting that they can explore a range of sounds.
The video was actually confirmed as CGI by the band themselves. Super impressive stuff. I think it might have also been AI assisted.
No AI in this one, but my last one for them was Iron Lung, which was all early AI. But yeah entirely CG asides from the band themselves. Cheers.
I think Justin may have been using sarcasm.
Ah gotcha, apologies. Either way- both cracking vids!👏
Love your videos, and I love this band. Justin, can you pleeease use your international superstardom to get Rick Beato onto these guys? They would blow his mind, I'm sure. Keep the great vids coming!
Probs my fav band of current times. Never a dull moment being a Gizz fan.
I just saw them live last night and it was INCREDIBLE, a musically profound experience
HAVE YOUR GUITAR TECH rewire a Strat styled guitar to: first position middle pickup, 2nd position middle & bridge PUs, 3rd position bridge PU, 4th position bridge & neck PUs & 5th position neck PU. Having the bridge & neck PUs going at the same time has a unique hi & lo tone from the single coil PUs.
Thankyou for making me aware of this band! 😅 Anytime I find an upbeat rock song with awesesome guitar solos which I can dance to it brings me great joy!🎸💃 😊 *Happy Gila Monster Noises * ✨️🦖 ✨️
I’m hooked now. Thanks a whole lot! L O L.🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻
These guys are simply amazing!! Go see them live!
Summoning monsters over cauldrons < dispatching giant space crabs with boulders
The feeling of listen a fresh KGWL album for the first it's awesome, you never know what is coming, and it happens often, like... 3 times a year 😂, that's why I love this band. I hope to see more King Gizzard in your channel Justin. 🦅🦎
Sir Justin Hawkins: Dear sir-This is some heavy stuff! LOL :-) Thanks for Chiming In!
Couldn't tell if the riding the horse part actually was CGI generated or not, eh? The monster summoning seemed tight, actually. That really happened.
it's AI :)
@@Ally-f3ona bro it happened
@@Ally-f3o Nah no AI, we filmed this on the back of making Lord of the Rings 4
@@SPOD_ZONE omg hi SPOD 👋 the iron lung and gila monster vids are so damn cool
@@Ally-f3o ah thanks!
I'm interested to hear your take on the band Sleep. You could really pick just about any of their songs, they're all very similar but excellent listens, none the less.
Um, that is quite clearly a *unicorn*, sir. A unicorn. (PS Total RIPPER. Three shows in Seattle next week.)
