Today the world got the news, Shelley Duvall passed away. Fairy Tale Theater was my introduction to Shelley Duvall, and this was favorite episode of Fairy Tale Theater. I’d hog the VHS tape from the library week after week. ❤
As a child; this one was my favorite. Decades later; I don't have a favorite anymore. Many of the actors (I use this for everyone) mean much more to me now. I can't say thank you enough for uploading this wonderful series; it's probably my #1 favorite from childhood, and brings back so many magical remembrances😊 Thanks again👍❤
I have so many fond Faerie Tale Theatre memories growing up. The Twelve Dancing Princesses is no exception. My mom would always let me rent one or two vhs tapes along with my library books. More often than not, I would pick a classic from the Faerie Tale Theatre collection. I've seen most of them. I'd like to track them all down to own and share with my nephews. Thanks, so much for sharing this one! It has me feeling like a 6 year old in dress up clothes again. Much love.
I watched this when I was so little and only I remember was they were dancing in a secret beautiful placed under a bed. No name or anything. After many years I saw this video on Barbie, I just realized it was a well-known fairytale of Grimm. I am so glad that I found it and can rewatch it today, it was always my dream movie from my chilhood. 1987 Unreachable back then. So thank you for uploading.
Aww, I'm so sorry to hear about your sister 😢. I hope watching this story from now on will bring you happiness and comfort at the memories you shared watching it with her. ❤
Sorry for the loss of your sister. But I'm pretty sure whenever you're watching this childhood show, she's watching you in spirit. Always remember how much you both enjoy watching it.
I LOVED this series as a kid! We'd rent them from the video store. This was my favorite of the series, I thought the magic underground kingdom was very well done. Beauty & the Beast was my 2nd favorite.
This was the first episode of 'Faerie Tale Theatre' I ever watched. My parents really liked that Lesley Ann Warren was in this because they loved her in 'Rogers & Hammerstein's Cinderella'.
This is by far my favorite episode of FTT. I watched it as a child and cried so much back then. I thought I'd never watch it again. I thank you for the bottom of my heart for this upload, watching this episode again made my heart glow in more ways than one. Thank you, thank you.
45:00 - praises her intelligence 45:26 - even though he is given the right to marry her, he still asks for her hand and leaves the decision to her. Love it!
@@oh9195 I think you missed part of the moral of this story; the king acknowledges the loss of his beloved wife which resulted in him being overprotective of his daughters. He thought keeping a close watch on them was for their own good (in his own words, "so many things can go wrong") but he realized that all children eventually need to be given their independence after the eldest princess explained they're no longer kids ("we are not so little anymore, father"). His parenting style may have been a bit suffocating but it wasn't intended to come across as creepy.
At last I have found it...love you Shelly Duvall... I always watched this fairy tales on TV2 Malaysian channel when I was 8 years old...now I am 46...😂
This was one of my favorites. My sisters and I would always imagine ourselves as the dancing princesses in our little dress up dresses and plastic heels. It’s nostalgic watching it again, a core memory of my childhood.
R.I.P. Zelda Rubinstein (1933-2010) (Old Woman), Ian Abercrombie (1934-2012) (Royal Cobbler). Roy Dotrice (1923-2017) (The King) and Max Wright (1943-2019) (Prince Heinrick).
Love this movie. All the characters, cast, and storyline brilliant. I will honestly say, this is the only movie I ever liked Peter Weller in and I thought he was very good looking in this film. The rugged hair and mustache did him justice and got me a little crush on him 💗.
One of my favorite episodes for sure, although I have to say Grimm’s Fairy Tales had the best version of this story. I’m dying for someone to make a good movie adaption someday.
It's so interesting to see Leslie Ann Warren, who is well-known for her role as Cinderella, playing such a cunning Princess in here! Thanks for the upload! Although the modern/casual acting sort of bothers me, this series has grown on me over the years.
The man of my dreams is a true and worthy hero and a fair and square champ with pre-maturity from prep to senior year, maturity from young to old age, eternal youth at heart, a warm heart, a cool head, an open mind, happy go lucky charms, nice and clean health and hygiene, royal manners, noble etiquette, who nightly studies his passions, daily practices his talents, learns from his past, lives in his present, plans for his future, creates good, changes neutral, destroys evil, and keeps his eyes on athletic prizes, his heart in active entertainment, and his head in academic education.
Wow. My mom had this on an old vhs tape she had recorded from pbs. I remember watching it quite a few times and it always creeped me out, but it's so cool to see it 30 years later!
RIP Shelley. This episode was not my favorite (not that I hated it or anything), but there were 3 I'd watch over and over as a kid: Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, and Cinderella.

I would start tickling and playing with all their sexy feet right away!!! They'd all be laughing and kicking like crazy, for sure!!!👣👣👣👣👣👣😆😆😆😆😆😆
@@Sarah276602 The Beauty & The Beast reading was ironic considering he starred in a late 80s TV series based on the same story playing the father of Vincent (that show's version of the Beast). I think between his Shakespearian classic sounding voice & that irony Disney could not resist casting him as the reader/narrator of the book based on their own BATB story. I highly recommend the late 80s BATB show, especially the 1st 2 seasons of it.
