    Good morning Brock. I've learned something new today. I guess you're never too old to learn new things. I do have a Mikita abrasive chop saw that I've had for well over a quarter century. It works very well but it doesn't hold a candle to that cold saw. If I was younger I'd probably have one of those by tomorrow but I really don't do that much heavy steel fabrication anymore. Most of what I do now is thin stuff and sheetmetal. But who knows, Christmas is coming. 😁 Well, God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂

    SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! I would have never thought the cold cut would have been the fastest….. consider me educated now!! Great test.. now I gotta go buy a cold cut saw for shop work. Porta ban will always be best for outside the shop cutting. 🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍

      I cut a piece of metal with a chop saw in the shop one day. The piece fell on the floor, still smoking. About that time, one of my hands walked in, and before I could say anything, he bent down and picked it up. Of course, he immediately dropped it. "Is it hot?" I asked. "No", he says. "It just don't take me long to look at one of them"!

    Any chance you know what blade would be good for cold chop saw to cut bronze 4” ingots

  • @HarryVonhoene
    @HarryVonhoene 10 месяцев назад +1

    Only use light pressure on the cold saw and do not slam it into the workpiece, you will dramatically reduce blade $$$$ life! A true cold saw will operate at about 50 rpm and requires coolant they do the best. A dual counter rotating saw (Harbor Freight) works well too!

    • @rockyplayz1224
      @rockyplayz1224 2 месяца назад

      50rpm is less than a rotation a second, I doubt thats true.

    The band saw cut a little slower than I expected. I have a DeWalt DWM120 and I was cutting 1/8" thick 1.5" angle iron, and it takes about 10 seconds. DeWalt recommends a 14 to 18 TPI blade for 1/8" material, although they don't tell you ANYWHERE what blade comes on the saw, and it's not stamped or printed on the blade either. I could count the teeth, I guess. It wouldn't change the outcome of the order they finished in, but I do think the bandsaw could cut faster than it did.

      @RockhillfarmYT  10 месяцев назад +1

      I didn’t measure, but I think that was at least quarter inch thick angle. Definitely impressed with the bandsaw.

    Well technically none of them are cold saw. Cold saw is a machine with HSS or sHSS blade what runs around 30 rpm. Machine like CS-315 or similar.

    Brock, any large, solid round or bar stock to try cutting with the carbide blade cold saw? Those are amazing for angle iron and tubing, but wondering about thicker, solid stock.

    Each saw has its place, The saw that uses an abrasive you should always wear a mask and a face shield with.

    Generally speaking band saws are more precise than those two, if you need 45 angles and to be square then band saw is must.
