Wow! I just got recommended this channel and what great timing! I'm also a self-taught EE undergrad, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on an old 1970s DIY electronics kit. I also grew up with RadioShack in my hometown, and Forest M Mimms led my learning experience. Glad to see this kit becoming available for curious minds, there's a huge lack of this available online right now. I've already subscribed and I'm excited to see where this goes! Let me know if there's any way I can contribute, I always appreciate paying it forward :)
hey man, ECE student from Northeastern here and just wanted to say how incredible you are. Love your work -- love the passion, drive, and energy you have for everything you share in these videos bro -- Super inspiring! keep killing it and I look forward to keep supporting you along this journey. Even I am learning things from you that my professor's never went over :)
Remember watching your videos a few years back, and finally seeing this kit pop up on my feed. Definitely would have loved buying something like this when I first got into electronics.
Just bought the kit! I’m trying to remove some of the mystery of the schematic and how all the components work on a board so this is perfect. And I’m trying to learn this stuff so I can fix up older electronics, not computers so this is great. Thanks for putting it together!
@@Joe-up8le it was $84 w/ tax. It helped me get more comfortable with schematics. It didn’t hand hold though, and the book had some diagrams that were not accurate. Luckily I had some testing equipment that allowed me to discover that. Still, even with those issues, it was a great learning experience.
I was super happy watching this video. When I outgrew my Lego mindstorms kit and wanted to enter the world of electronics, I didn't have any guidance. no radioshack or other cool stores in India that gave out kits. Whenever I tried to learn electronics from youtube, it was either way to complex(taught with engineering level math) or not taught properly, so I ended up floating about aimlessly for years before I could do real circuit work. It worked out in the end; I did learn a lot, and im even studying Computer Engineering in college rn, but i'm glad that a lotta young curious minds will have such a great resource like this in the future! :)
I bought the kit some time ago, and recently came across the box, however the booklet is missing. Is there way to see it, maybe through a PDF since I don't think it would be possible to send me a new booklet?
next paycheck! I wanna learn to engineer electronic instruments! Gotta start somewhere and I love your suggestions! Really seem to come from a place of self-teaching and understanding! Thanks for this.
I just ran across your channel today and immediately grabbed my kids (14 & 16) and asked if they'd be interested in learning this and BOTH of them said yes and seemed very excited. Sucks that they won't ship until next year, though. But I will be adding this to our 'get' list and will purchase your kit. And now I feel like a kid because I want to start learning this too, though mine will be for projects for an Escape Room. I realize I can buy Arduinos and get started that way but I'd much rather come at an Arduino with at least a basic understanding of what it's doing and why, than to just get one and program something. It would be very cool if I could eventually create my own circuit boards for projects. Very cool.
Great job! The kit looks awesome. I'm really looking forward to testing it out. I'm in Australia. Please let me know when you have it available for international shipping!
Really cool I will absolutely get this when it comes out I have been wanting to get to know electronics but didn’t quite know how as a teen I don’t have that much money to support the kickstarter but I really believe this is going to be great thank you👍👍
@@TheAMTech_Official I took a look at the kickstarter so you can get a kit by supporting right?, but are there some features that will be better/new features on the higher price version
@@TheAMTech_Official so it says early edition so will there be some hardware change in the fully completed one or just the booklet or you don’t know yet?👍
@@Daniel-wq6kl There might be some slight changes to the booklet but everything is pretty much finalized. The early edition is so that if people want, they can ensure they receive one of the first 500 kits as fast as possibly deliverable.
Hi Ahkeel, just found this channel by accident. This seems to be a great starting point for electronics. I wanted to get hands-on with The AM Tech Introduction to Electronics Kit. But unfortunately, there is no way to get my hands on it, cause I'm based in Germany. Can you make this happen? Thanks Frank
Actually looks pretty interesting. I already have all the parts though, I'd be happy with access to only the booklet. Very curious about your explanations, you seem like you could strengthen my understanding of the basics. If you need anyone to proof read or volunteer, I'd be happy to do it for access to the booklet :)
Yep! You can check out the campaign at the link below and everything is for purchase worldwide 👍 www.kickstarter.com/projects/theamtechkit/the-am-tech-introduction-to-electronics-kit?ref=d91sue

I'd love to follow along in this starter kit for electronics though, is there a way to purchase a digital version of the booklet? I'd love to get my hands on it and finally be able to learn the basics of electronics
Hello about the project 5 is there something wrong with the instructions or is my microphone broken the mailing firm took the box a bit rough and I suppose the mike was flying around the box for a while. Thanks!
Hi Daniel! It’s possible the mic got damaged in shipping, however the components we sourced were pretty robust, so I would double check your Pin-by-Pin connections as well as the orientation of your mic (it’s a polarized component). Let me know how it goes. Thanks so much for your support!
@@TheAMTech_Officialthank you for the reply! I totally forgot to update the progress but i manager to make the circuit work there was nothing wrong with the connections it was just that the mike had a certain threshold that you had to pass before hearing anything
Hello! I just got my kit I read the first pages of the booklet and was just going to do the project 1 but behind the breadboard seems to be a sticker and in the box is a metal panel could you explain what the panel is for? Thank you!
The metal shield is not necessary but can be used to give the breadboard more mechanical stability. You can stick the metal panel to the breadboard’s adhesive back, which can be exposed by peeling off the paper layer.
@@TheAMTech_Official thank you ! Btw the kit has been awesome and the booklet is well designed, only thing is that there could be a explanation of what the components do in a circuit like for example the amplifier and all the projects with IC’s.
Mine came with an extra project. I couldn't get anything to work. Turns out, I had to do some troubleshooting. The negative wire was not connected to the on/off switch and I had to solder it. It didn't even charge me extra for the additional project. (Oh, and the graphs in the holder that show how batteries are placed in the holder are wrong)
I'm so sorry to hear this Keith! We can absolutely send you a new kit if you contact us through Amazon. We had some issues with sourcing during this first run and despite our best efforts, it seems a few problem kits made it out.
It’s available today on Kickstarter! You can check out the campaign and everything else at www.kickstarter.com/projects/theamtechkit/the-am-tech-introduction-to-electronics-kit?ref=d91sue

I LOVE this kit and want it badly. But $73??? For a kit with, looks like maybe $15 worth of components, and zero goodies like microcontrollers, sensors, etc. that come in a $30 kit? That's probably a non-starter for most of your potential market. I understand that the book is the real value here. I'd probably pay a considerable sum just for that (but not $73), and then buy components from aliexpress as needed. Anyways, great job, keep up the good fight.
Unfortunately, we are a small operation and are just unable to make the kit as inexpensively as we’d like. We hope that, with scale, we can bring the price down. For now, all of my subscribers can use the code “LEDLAND” to get 10% off their order. I hope that helps!
