Hazar waits as Chancellor Mordok travels to visit the Drule outpost. When he arrives, he reminds Hazar that time is running out for their home planet and that it may self-destruct as soon as the next lunar cycle. Hazar talks of peace but right now, only as a means of deception. Mordok wants to take over he Alliance's home planet, Earth, but Hazar wants to stick to his false "peace" plan. In thought, Hazar is beginning to wonder if real peace might be the best chance for his people. Meanwhile, Captain Newley has had orders to transfer out of the Explorer, and the crew throws him a big celebration. No real confrontation between the Drules and Alliance happens in this one.
