The gears on mine sound like a bag of spanners. I’ve been told this is more likely to be wear in the bearings than wear in the actual gears themselves. I’ll pop the case open and if the gears look ok I’ll replace the bearings.
Hi can you send me pictures of the switch assembly and wiring diagram of your G 2508 Arboga drill press. Mine I have is smashed to pieces. Tim from Perth Western Australia
Hi Pizzey, thanks for the video on your Arboga, I'd l recently purchased one and would love to see how the rise and fall works? Mine has been retro fitted with a counter weight, but I'd love to see how it's meant to be! Thanks kindly.
Mine is fitted with a quill feed return coil spring, mounted in the housing on the left hand side. The retaining mechanism is an aluminium alloy and on my drill it was worn and difficult to adjust so I made a new one from steel - big improvement. I suspect this may be a common point of failure as I've seen a few with this part missing.
Hello Pizzey, I have a similar drill, essbeco, I need to re-wire the motor and can't figur how, the wires goes through the colomn to the motor, I see on you video that yours is similar and the wires are already removed, any tips on how to do so would be greatly appreciated
Search for dahlander motor connections. It's a two speed motor, where you can change the number of poles via a switch. I determined the windings using a multimeter, and compared this with the original switch connections, which matched.
hello there, any suggestions on lubricating the gears? i stupidly used oil and now the oil has dripped down the quill and splashes all around when the spindle turns fast (my t shirts now have a horizontal oil line on the chest area😂)… should i reopen it up , remove the oil and use grease instead? thx
Where did you lube it? The bearings need grease and the gears don't really need anything as they're some type of phenolic. I just rebuilt mine and didn't use much of anything on the gears. Maybe a light film of grease.
Ik you used to teach wjec GCSE electronics; with my exams coming up I was wondering if you had any notes or recourses you'd be able to share as information is few and far between. Sorry I know it's weird to reach out like this
Hi. I got the same drill many years ago. And i have now got a clarke pc 60 it will run for only a couple of seconds and pulling high amps. Would the motor need new bearings. It was standing in the corner of a shed for 15 years.

Interesting, my G2508 got all helical gears - nothing straight cut, all expensive! Also the cover is very difficult to take off.

Could you help me figure out how to wire this machine up in the switch?
Sir, would you be able to do some revision videos on WJEC GCSE Electronics?

@ thank you for the reply! i actually dripped oil from the filling ports on top of the gearbox, i guess i used too much!

Bearing noise, if any, should be a good indication of failure. Sure it's not wired incorrectly? It's a dahlander 2 speed configuration.
I have one of these, and would like to know what taper for a drill chuck I would need to purchase if you know?
Mine is definitely MT3. I hope that helps.
Mine is also 3MT.
