"I promise you it will be slow and painful" And of course Mark replies "Don't promise me with a good time". Something something masochism. I ask for more episodes.
The design for this enemy is really interesting, impressive and unsettling. It's one thing to have a creepy monster that's always trying to kill you, It's another thing entirely to have a monster that flips between terrorizing you and apologizing. Like if 50% of the time, Slenderman was like "wait bro, come back, I won't hurt you I promise"
yea it actually makes the game easier if u manage both her modes. She can give u healing items, give u keys you've dropped (or ones you've revealed but not picked up) and kind of "plays" with you. There is even a mode where all she does is harmlessly follow the player trying her best to stay behind them and if u turn as fast as possible, you can just barely catch her running behind u. (You can also see her shadow in certain places)
@@HolyCow3333 She has 2 modes, the "red eye" mode she says is a diff person from her normal self. This one is the main antagonist of the game, she will try to trick you by doing things the normal version of herself will but she'll attack and try to kill you any chance she gets. Then theres the "Pink eye" mode. In this mode she genuinely cares about the character and is just extremely awkward (and creepy) but completely harmless. In this mode she will offer you items and follow you around harmlessly if she finds u. Sometimes being too shy to look at you directly and will simply follow behind you. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHEN SHE IS LIKE THIS. She can heal you if ur hurt, give you keys and overall wont take advantage of you falling in traps or doing anything super loud that would normally attract the "red eye" version of her. As long as you listen to her in this mode and "play" with her if she asks she won't go hostile for a long time. But not playing with her, not listening to requests, etc will trigger her to go "red eyes" faster
@@nerdyfoxes8000 There was a part where she said "dont worry " Hey...you" it was when he jooked her in light room that she was pink which means he could have just walked past her.. I think thats what he's talking about.
@@robertmccormick3100 I know you're genuinely helping, but I was just making a joke. I have no intention, nor do I have the means or interest, in playing this game. It does look good, for an Alpha, and the A.I. is super cool 'n' what not.. But y'know. Juuust a joke bro
When she says, “Follow me.” she’s really saying “Obey me” as in “Follow my instructions.” So the Japanese dialogue is actually creepier, in my opinion. 😳
Just curious, since I'm not good enough to make it out exactly, specifically what word is she using there? I can only confidently make out 「私に〇〇〇ってください」.
IT's fine if I didn't speak Japanese ,but I do ,so I didn't like the actor's acsent.....well game itself looks very nice .....it would be better to change the voice line to something don't really have meanings though.....
The music is often a good indicator of whether you’re safe. The bell/chime music is typically ‘safe’. If the music suddenly stops, she’s around a corner ready to ambush you (if you go to the point in the video where she ambushed him from around the corner, the music stopped several feet beforehand). And of course the sudden strings or whir noise means she’s heard/seen you. No music while she’s in pursuit as well.
@@Idonthaveanythingbettertodo sometime music just amplifies things so much. i think music in horror games is almost needed but i was just wondering if a game without them would make it scarier because then you wouldnt know when the monster/hunter/whatever is chasing you or when they see you.
The girl: “it’s fine, I’ll let you go now” Mark: **runs away and gets killed** “WHAT YOU SAID YOUD LET ME GO” Girl: “here take this key it’s for you” Mark: **takes the key and gets killed immediately** “WHAT BUT YOU OFFERED” He never learns
she actually has three modes, one where she is friendly, and try to stalk the player and provide healing items if she damaged them another where she is violent and will try to kill the player. and the last one is where she will pretend to be friendly in order to trick the player into trusting her.
That's honestly a mechanic I don't see too often in gaming. The only other character I can think of that does that is Jack Baker from RE7. And even then it's not a major part of his character. So it's really nice to see a game that takes such a unique concept and runs with it.
I u think about it, 3 is like 666 a special number when u talk about demonic and scary stuff (for example demon leave 3 scratch marks when scratching someone, or the time 3am which is often called ghost hour and seen unholy) and god darsh dang it, there are 4 three's intotal, very concerning timing for a jumpscare. I'm pretty sure that this was Lixians fault. Since he has control over the editing of Mark's Videos, pretty nice easteregg even if unintented.
33:04 Traps don't randomly spawn and unlike Monstrum she doesn't teleport around to always stay within a distance of the player meaning she found Mark and instead of attacking or announcing her presence she snuck in and placed the trap while he wasn't looking. Saiko is an incredibly in depth AI and the creator happily shows it off on their youtube channel. I suggest to all interested that you play the game a bit and then go to the channel and check it out. She almost feels alive with how she acts and treats the player.
I have the 2.1 Alpha release, and I can certainly agree with this. She's a very complicated AI, and Her odds of killing You solely depend on how much You've annoyed Her, or how many times You've done something She sees as 'wrong'. It'll seem as though it's a random kill, but it all just builds up. She can be extremely nice when She's unprovoked, unlike the first version of Her, who went straight for the kill. She plays games, and She can get annoyed if You don't complete Her 'find the key' game in time. She becomes increasingly frustrated when Your out of sight, and can ultimately end up just killing You when She's REALLY pissed off.
@@Reddzion Yeah youre thinking of Yandere Simulator...its the one where it thinks its Hitman. His financial squandering is honestly pretty tame considering the fact he supports p*dophilia openly.
Saiko literally means "The Best" this comment gonna be good "IF" only i didn't understand japanese and didn't read that you called the yandere girl as "The Best" 😂
In "Yandere mode", your actually playing as the main protaganists best friend, and he wasn't dead- just knocked on concious.(Most likely from Saiko's smoke bombs.) Which Saiko purposely had so she could lure him into the school to get him out of the way so she could be with the protaganist WHOS NAME I FORGOT. edit: It was a drug, not a smoke bomb.
I'd love to see mark play it again. The enemy having a hostile/non-hostile mode where you can actively interact with them is very unique. Like her offering the key, and then running away with it, like she's playing keep-away. Not to mention the fact she is completely unpredictable, where she actively lies to you. Like "you can go' and then literally backstabbing you. It's a very cool AI.
@@blubehriluv yeah, more horror games should do this unpredictable enemy type. would be way more interesting than the generic "monster sees you and chases you"
Did you know that in the lore, she as two personalities, the girl (pink dialogue) and the boy (red dialogue), the other personality is a boy since he speaks with male sentences in japanese.
The ending where mark died with the key was great. Him being cocky and saying "You think the power will hinder me?" Then realizing she was waiting for him was so funny.
this game pays so much to little details, like her staring through the classroom windows, i love it. Also her playing rock papaer scissors and how she isnt inherently going to kill you until you try to escape. all these neat details
I love how nobody be talking about how mark almost said, “Hello everybody my name is Saiku No Sutoka.” Kinda like where he accidentally said “Hello every my name is welcome”
Some notes about this game Saiko can hear things, therefor running makes a lot of noise. Its entirely possible to play this game without Saiko seeing you because of this (atleast on Normal mode) Saiko has two modes on Normal and Hard Mode when interacting with the player. One is harmless and the other she will harm you. You can get her mad, and get her angry enough and that'll trigger hers one hit kill move. This can trigger by hiding in a single area and Saiko finding you. Not sure if you can do this in the current version, but in previous versions there was small rooms that you can hide in and if Saiko finds you, she'll instantly kill you. You can headpat her to calm her down I think, only on normal and hard mode. Glass will harm you, but you can bypass this by either walking slowly or finding shoes. For some reason Saiko took your shoes.
Saiko probably knew you were gonna try to escape so she took your shoes just in case. And when you go in rooms with doors, she breaks the windows on them so if you go out that way, you'll be slowed down and hurt.
@@cyanlight7 I’ve seen people say that, which is a shame. however I’m mostly referring to her tone of voice/slurring words than the actual dialogue since I’m an amateur in Japanese currently, so it all sounds the same to me anyway. lol. most villains in games try too hard to sound scary to the point where they aren’t scary at all, this soft-spoken style however has the opposite effect and does the job of scaring you while requiring the least amount of effort. pretty cool
i just realized, when she says "i will be back soon" at the beginning of the yandere level, you hear a locker closing-- thats her locking the tied guy in the locker!
Said "tied guy in the locker" being the one we play in the other modes (In Yandere mode we play his friend, the one whose head is on the table in the main menu)
@@Del80VR I mean yeah, it's not a *big* revelation, but the continuity from it is great (even if Yandere mode's bad ending is canon since that's what Saiko goes to do when leaving the player in the headmaster's room in normal/hard.)
God I love that you can interact with her as if she wasn't the enemy sometimes. I don't remember seeing something like that before! Usually you approach your enemy and bam you're hurt/dead. This game is different. This enemy is ok to be next to sometimes, and nope some others. Also I like that you technically can answer the question of "why can't you hear her coming" with "well, she's barefoot." That would actually make sense.
She's barefoot and likely light on her feet. She seems to be a really light person so with the right amount of practice knows how to shift her weight to walk silently.
The reason the school looks familiar is because it’s from the Asset Store. Yandere Sim’s early builds used a lot of Asset Store stuff for the sake of early proof of concept stuff, and t he building only got more original in later builds.
It was also used in another game he played and I can't for the life of me remember what it was. He had to find keycards or keys and hind when the killer/creature would come down the halls, etc.
This is such a horrifying concept. Is it even safe to turn around? I assume if you try to progress she'll interrupt you with a "surprise attack" from behind.
I really like the villain modes she has. Basically harmless, playful, hunting mode. I'm interested to see what the other endings are. I break underpressure to I wouldn't survive playing the game myself. Thank you for "returning" to this game. Its a fun one.
@@SquaulDuNeant Bit of a ending spoiler: There really is no real good ending to the game other than you escape. Half the time when you reach the exit you just die anyway.
Especially in Yangire difficulty Edit: After watching the video, I think I am more interested in the regular difficuly. Saiko is so interesting, like she can go from trying to kill you to hanging out with you, based off of your interactions with her. She is still very smart in setting up traps to slow you down, however. Yangire mode she's really devious, but is only out to kill you
one thing i love about this game is how extremely erratic and random the AI behaves. The personality changes. One min she is sorry, next she stabs you. she runs after you or just decides to hang back and peek from a window or corner. it is so good.
I actually really like the concept of this game, having a stalker enemy that goes between murder mode non-murder mode is really novel, and the ai is surprisingly complex. Would love to see more of this. edit: since this is over 1k likes already, inb4 "don't care didn't ask furry"
@@DarkAlice I'm not sure that I agree. I'm of the opinion that the stalking mechanics, especially the ones where she enters a room behind you, locks the door, then moves behind desks to try and keep you locked in, are pretty complex. Same goes for how she'll find where you are, then hide behind corners in order to jump you. Though if you're talking about the looking mechanic and how she'll attack you from behind the moment she's not in your main view, then that's fair enough, she seems to be a bit too trigger happy with that mechanic. All in all, though, I think the enemy's pretty 3-Dimensional with her abilities.
It's also funny when some people get confused as to why they can't run or hide anymore and get surprise attacked sometimes. She can hug the MC, it limits movement and you can only tell by looking down and noticing she has her arms around you.
So I'm curious. Is mark actually playing the game or is the point to let himself get caught over and over to extend the video? Bc this is tiring to watch
Hey Mark or Lixian, the Yandere difficulty is actually a prologue to the main game. It shows the friend(who is killed) trying to find the main character(who you play later) looking for you after school.
Glad I'm not the only one that put it together. It's who she goes to chop the head off of at the start of normal mode (which you experience in Yandere mode). I imagine if Mark would have gone in the infirmary he would have seen the decapitated friend.
I like how the different difficulties don’t just change the AI but the entire experience. The whole map and environment changes which not many games will do.
"Is the building from Yandere Simulator?" No, Mark, this building is from quite literally every and any slice of life anime that revolves around high school students.
Mark: “praising himself of being so skilled and the way he outsmarted her" And then in the next minute she outsmarts him and kills him. He literally jinxed himself. Edit: OMG i never thought my one small comment will get 1.5k likes. Wel thanks everyone.
I wonder if it was merely a coincidence or it's actually programmed to sometimes wait in a blind spot before attacking the player. Either way that was terrifying. And the fact that the background music went silent just moments before
@@inzanity490 I think she is programmed like that to do this and hide from time to time, I can't remember who exactly maybe it was even in Mark's previous let's play of this game, but I remember someone seeing the girl from the corner just standing there waiting for us to pass by and then attack us like I think he could notice her knife sticking out or her foot or something, if it wasn't in the previous video by Mark then it was either in a Coryxkenshin video or 8-bitryan, I can't exactly remember where but I do remember seeing that, I think it's completely random but it does happen from time to time among some other stuff.
@@Del80VR I mean... The jump scare happens at 33:34 / 33:35... Putting that Timestamp is 4-5 seconds of nothing happening until the jump scare. I'd rather be specific about the time, than post an odd 5 seconds off.
I honestly find the whole concept of a sometimes-passive enemy in a game like this to be really cool. In the demo, she's just there to kill you, there's no personality or anything she's just "the thing you avoid." Here you can kinda.. play with her. It's really intriguing, that last run was what I wanted you to do from the beginning, I think that concept could be expanded on and maybe even there could be a way to win by maneuvering some give-and-take kind of game with her, playing with her when she's passive and running when she's not. Very unique! Definitely wanna see where this game goes and if you do choose to play it again, definitely do when it's _actually_ full release.
Pretty sure that there are endings in which you have to keep her passive and play with her. Mark barely scratched the surface in terms of how the game can be played.
The fact that she says "it's been a while hasn't it?" and "did you miss me from the last time" makes me think her yandere side/'him' has some sort of meta knowledge and remembers all the times she tormented the player before, like in other playthroughs and builds. Like she's actually partially possessed by another being. That's a pretty cool idea, if it's intentional! (Even if it isn't intentional, it's my headcanon for now!)
If she have a split personality, its likely that she doenst have acess to the other personality memory, so every time she switchs with the other personality shes basicaly gone for awile I Woudn't be surprised if she actualy have some sort of mood swing rather than split personality, and the two moods are so diferents from eachother that she _thinks_ she have two minds when its actually one mind and whats changing is how shes acting on her emotions
The intro to Yandere mode really feels like a fever dream with the almost whispering voice acting and blocky walking animation. I don't know if this was intended by the creator but I feel like it adds to the game :)

we NEED more cool and interesting AIs like this one with behaviors that aren't all just "run up and kill the player", it's really unique and interesting to see how she can interact with you and the environment and im honestly surprised this style of enemy AI hasn't blown up already or something, same with alien isolation's dual AI system, how have more people not done these styles when they work SO WELL? hope we get more
My guess would be cause they're a pain to get right and even if you do they can be SO easy to break if a player does a glitch or something the AI simply doesn't know how to handle. And then the whole experience is more hilarious than interesting. And that's best case scenario. Aside from that there's also not very much ... need I guess you could say. Not every game needs super smart AI. Sometimes something that just does what it needs to and nothing more is more than enough to immerse a player. I'm not arguing against the implementation I wish there was more of it to. I prefer games where difficulty changes how enemies behave over just making them stronger but still dumb.
@@rokeYouuer Yeah that to. Reminds me of the nemesis system from shadow of mordor and shadow of war. Id love to see that used in another settibg. Like robots! Those can have varying designs, levels of intelligence, and can be rebuilt to come back. As for them remembering you arter YOU die. Just put a humans conscience into a system that uploads it to a new body back at some resistance base or something.
She looks to have a split personality- A genuinely friendly girl and a ruthless, sadistic killer lurking right underneath. You would think the killer side would just off you. Maybe the good side is trying to sabotage the killer and help you?
Sick people are sick people, there are no sides. You either stay away from them, off them when the opportunity shows up or wait for them to off YOU like an idiot.
Yeah, that AI is really good, makes the game interesting. However, I don't know what stops our protagonist from picking up a chair, and beating little knifey-bloody lady until she's unconscious.
What stops him? Game mechanics, and the consequences of murdering someone even to protect yourself. That being said, I'd take my chances with the law before running through that nightmarish situation.
You can see in her normal personality mode (pink eyes and voice line sub) he is able to push her over and run faster than her, but in her yangire alter ego, she is possessed by a demon and is much stronger than him
It’s not necessarily that she’s saying a lot when she speaks, it’s that she’s speaking unsettlingly slow and quietly Also yes she is saying what English translation reads
as someone learning japanese, i second this. sure, its not a direct translation word for word but no japanese to english translations are, because its a different language with different grammar
@reimu the switching of polite to casual could be written off as her two personalities (as that is clear to us) but otherwise, it does sound like they just took the Google Translate version and had someone try to sound menacing
@reimu it’s not perfect, of course. May have misheard some things too, but most of what I heard was accurate to the translation. But also I’d imagine that it isn’t the actors fault for that. From what I could tell that was legit, so it’s not them that messed anything up, if anything at all. Plus in a Japanese placed game, I’d assume they’d know what they’re putting into the script (given they used a fluent translator), though it could also be that the English translation was a tad inaccurate too, yet it still got the message around. All that aside, “all over the place” is a bit of an exaggeration as well, considering that most of it was indeed (at least somewhat) accurate. Mistakes here and there happen, as they always do, but it doesn’t immediately make it wrong. Anyway back to the video thanks for coming to my Ted talk
Fun fact: the yandere mode character that you play as isn’t The same character as the other levels/mods. The main person you play as is Saiko’s love interest, but for the Yandere mode it is another character named Shinji who is the main persons good friend- in the one scene when Shinji is on the infirmary bed she cuts of his head and you later on hear his scream when getting out of the chair. This also relates back to the main menu screen with the head placed on the desk in front of Saiko.
33:30 That entire encounter was BRILLIANT. You know how music signifies if you are in danger or not? And when everything is calm, the music is calm too? Well, right before the jumpscare, the music went *completely* silent, so suddenly that i could *feel* her waiting to jump from around the corner. And the sudden punch in the ears when you get caught? Just an icing on the top.
i love saiko-chan's AI. she's smarter, clever, more cunning, and that alone makes the experience much scarier than usual. if she knows you're in the room, she might block the doorway because she knows it's your only way out, or hide right outside to jump you as you leave, or even break the windows as she closes it behind her because it'll obviously hurt you when you're barefoot. she can be found hiding & peeking out from a corner at times when she's chasing you, literally stalking you as her prey. although she will sometimes offer help, you'd have to be attentive whether her font is pink or red, as the red font is her other 'ego'(?), the one who's actually willing to kill you. i'd be so down to see mark actually try and beat this game at its hardest level. i haven't actually been keeping up to date with the development, so this would be interesting to watch.
exactly! her AI switching between "her" and "him" adds various levels to the gameplay--it's not just one flavor. i think some other commenters were saying it's comparable to Alien: Isolation's alien AI
@@awesomekaito5246 not sure, actually. sounds like something that's been implemented when i stopped being up to date with it, though that would explain going 'this is your last chance'
You can crouch to prevent tripping the tripwires. Also you should knock over the picture frame in the headmaster room in Yangire mode and see what happens ;)

I've never seen a horror game so good that it literally sends me into panic and anxiety right from the start, and horror is a concept that doesn't much give me that feeling anymore. every time I rewatch him play it, the more it puts me on edge. the voice acting and sounds are beautiful, and the art of it is stunning, the detail they put in to the yandere as well. the movements seem so smooth, and the yandere's actions, emotions, and voice literally sends chills down my spine and puts me in a horrible sense of dread. hands down, an absolutely amazing game. it is so perfectly made. 10/10.
yay, the dev is good, he's open to many followers and people joining to contribute to making this game better, his discord server is fun. I like how Mark came back to this game bringing new people along... the translations are as accurate as they get.
I'm not sure if the entire plagiarism fiasco paints a good picture of the dev. Several scriptwriters on RUclips claimed he plagiarized their scripts for the initial alpha build of his game, though around five lines have been removed since then (not sure about the rest).
The devs made an awesome job with her AI, she only chases and hurt you when you're trying to escape, they really thought about what would happen if the player decided to actually obey her. And to think that this is only an alpha? Man
It's cool when they make enemies in games more than just one dimensional 'stay away because bad' Would be interesting if you could complete the game with her 'helping' you, like if you don't make it obvious you are trying to get away from her. Because you should 100% be able to do that while she is in yandere and not yangire mode.
What's funny Mark was close to a good ending(her running with exit key), there is an another ending like that but it's hard, especially when trying to do the achievement where you never anger her (head patting her when she stands still about to become angry will not prevent the achievement)
There's a couple different ways right now where if you're "nice" to her she'll help you leave, but they're pretty tricky to do because she angers very easily
You can abuse her in key mode. When she's holding a key you can fill out the diary, or manipulate her to go where the locked door is, then get the key from her. When she walks towards you, you can easily grab the key.
You 100% can. Never push her, never grab the diary, never resist her grabs. When she asks for a key, hand it over right away. Don't run away from her, just let her follow you around. Occasionally she will stab you, but she never enters yangire mode if you never antagonise her. And, of course, there are achievements for beating the game in this way at various difficulties. It is my favourite way to play actually.
Definitely one the more unique enemy type for a horror game. Instead of them catching you means instant or quick death they just hurt you or capture you or mess with you.
I would like to see Mark attempt all endings. It is an entertaining game with a interesting enemy ai. Sad he didn't get the option to calm the evil side of the yandere, nor did she offer him health, unless that was patched out.
It is kind of amazing that this game managed to be way creepier and more unsettling in its "nobody is trying to kill you" difficulty than most horror games even come close to being.
Actually would be interested in seeing more of this game. I mean if mark can beat the game with the guy who had the ruler then he can definitely do this one.
I love this idea so much, because she doesn't just have OLD (obsessive love disorder, most commonly interpreted in yanderes) but she also represents DID (dissociative identity disorder). in a way that isn't just "ooh I'm this person now ooh look now I'm a different person" She actually has a realistic touch to her DID. and she represents obbsesive love disorder better than most yanderes, only being murdering any possible love interest, but when she feels that she is not in comfort with him, she will become hostile/different "triggered" identity (due to DID). showing that the unfortunate people with OLD aren't "yanderes", they are people who seek comfort in a person they care for, and are willing to do anything to anything to be with them.
That’s really interesting. I took psych 101 and we learned a bit about DID. I don’t know if there are many cases where the person “fronting” can just switch on a dime like in most media, but I do wanna give this game credit for putting in so much care and attention to detail.
14:27 Brickshooter is a youtuber who knows this game inside and out, doing insane difficulty challenges he sets for himself. That's amazing they added that in though ^-^
This is actually surprisingly intriguing for a yandere style game. I thought the yandere simulator game was hilarious and this shit has me dead at how much anxiety I get during the chase. There’s a huge difference between the two
YES! And add to the fact that theres a health bar, and you constantly have to outsmart and escape her, and that you sustain damage from previous attack make her much much more scary than horror games where the monsters one-shot you.
and moments like when you see her observing you from the window you panic and try to run away or sometimes doesn't even see, the games gives you a lot of chances what makes it interesting to play more to get the other endings since you will have different experiences by knowing the AI more to outsmart in different ways
@@Wildy333 It's not. yea it actually makes the game easier if u manage both her modes.
@@sevirakalau2171 what mode?
It'll seem as though it's a random kill, but it all just builds up. She can be extremely nice when She's unprovoked, unlike the first version of Her, who went straight for the kill. Some notes about this game
Saiko can hear things, therefor running makes a lot of noise. Its entirely possible to play this game without Saiko seeing you because of this (atleast on Normal mode)
Saiko has two modes on Normal and Hard Mode when interacting with the player.
I was thinking she’s just kinky

God I love that you can interact with her as if she wasn't the enemy sometimes. I don't remember seeing something like that before! Usually you approach your enemy and bam you're hurt/dead. This game is different. This enemy is ok to be next to sometimes, and nope some others.

@@redfrenchhorn4539 Yeah but it's usually quieter than actual shoes.

She's barefoot and likely light on her feet. She seems to be a really light person so with the right amount of practice knows how to shift her weight to walk silently.
You can hear her, but the sound isn't as loud as, say, Senpai's running, which she CAN listen to.
Now it uses stolen assets!
Another tip for the gameplay: when the chimes/xylophone music cuts out, she’s either behind you or right around one of the corners.
I read this as it happened on screen. Needless to say, it was… surprising…
I'm guessing the chimes music is the "You're safe" music
This is such a horrifying concept. Is it even safe to turn around? I assume if you try to progress she'll interrupt you with a "surprise attack" from behind.

edit: since this is over 1k likes already, inb4 "don't care didn't ask furry"
It's not really complex. It's just jumping between different triggers way too easily.

The username is hilarious
The fact that she says "it's been a while hasn't it?" and "did you miss me from the last time" makes me think her yandere side/'him' has some sort of meta knowledge and remembers all the times she tormented the player before, like in other playthroughs and builds. Like she's actually partially possessed by another being. That's a pretty cool idea, if it's intentional!
(Even if it isn't intentional, it's my headcanon for now!)
If she have a split personality, its likely that she doenst have acess to the other personality memory, so every time she switchs with the other personality shes basicaly gone for awile

we NEED more cool and interesting AIs like this one with behaviors that aren't all just "run up and kill the player", it's really unique and interesting to see how she can interact with you and the environment and im honestly surprised this style of enemy AI hasn't blown up already or something, same with alien isolation's dual AI system, how have more people not done these styles when they work SO WELL? hope we get more
My guess would be cause they're a pain to get right and even if you do they can be SO easy to break if a player does a glitch or something the AI simply doesn't know how to handle.
Because video game creators get patents for their innovative game designs, so they, and they alone, can use them.

She looks to have a split personality-
A genuinely friendly girl and a ruthless, sadistic killer lurking right underneath.
You would think the killer side would just off you. Maybe the good side is trying to sabotage the killer and help you?
That's Yanderes in general they have a complete mood switch at seemingly random where they go from bubbly and sweet to Psychotic and Sadistic.

Yeah, that AI is really good, makes the game interesting. However, I don't know what stops our protagonist from picking up a chair, and beating little knifey-bloody lady until she's unconscious.
Goddamit Chris, what did I say about harassing people with chairs??? It’s the fifth time this week!
@@FlSCHL Sorry. When someone binds me to a bed, and then repeatedly tries to slash and stab me... You know... It just kinda rubs me the wrong way.

What stops him? Game mechanics, and the consequences of murdering someone even to protect yourself. That being said, I'd take my chances with the law before running through that nightmarish situation.
You can see in her normal personality mode (pink eyes and voice line sub) he is able to push her over and run faster than her, but in her yangire alter ego, she is possessed by a demon and is much stronger than him
It’s not necessarily that she’s saying a lot when she speaks, it’s that she’s speaking unsettlingly slow and quietly
Also yes she is saying what English translation reads
as someone learning japanese, i second this. sure, its not a direct translation word for word but no japanese to english translations are, because its a different language with different grammar
@reimu ahhh.. yeah that would be confusing. I'm not completely familiar with japanese to pick up on those switches
@reimu that’s a fair point lol
Google translate vibes are high in numbers, I’ll give you that.

So no head?
Yep fine fall to the ground still ok dies still ok
i love saiko-chan's AI. she's smarter, clever, more cunning, and that alone makes the experience much scarier than usual. if she knows you're in the room, she might block the doorway because she knows it's your only way out, or hide right outside to jump you as you leave, or even break the windows as she closes it behind her because it'll obviously hurt you when you're barefoot. she can be found hiding & peeking out from a corner at times when she's chasing you, literally stalking you as her prey. although she will sometimes offer help, you'd have to be attentive whether her font is pink or red, as the red font is her other 'ego'(?), the one who's actually willing to kill you.
i'd be so down to see mark actually try and beat this game at its hardest level. i haven't actually been keeping up to date with the development, so this would be interesting to watch.
thank you for explaining it! from the video everything is happening so fast it makes it hard to understand how she works LOL. such a cool concept!!
cool concept than some game develop by smelly dev for sure.
exactly! her AI switching between "her" and "him" adds various levels to the gameplay--it's not just one flavor. i think some other commenters were saying it's comparable to Alien: Isolation's alien AI
Doesn't she also have a 3 strike system before she will just straight kill you like she did at the end? I'm not sure for the harder modes tho
Fun fact: You can hug her in the game if you are nice enough
And theres a chance that if your low on health she will offer a medicine to restore your health
That made the Yandere AI bizarre to me

I've never seen a horror game so good that it literally sends me into panic and anxiety right from the start, and horror is a concept that doesn't much give me that feeling anymore. every time I rewatch him play it, the more it puts me on edge. the voice acting and sounds are beautiful, and the art of it is stunning, the detail they put in to the yandere as well. the movements seem so smooth, and the yandere's actions, emotions, and voice literally sends chills down my spine and puts me in a horrible sense of dread. hands down, an absolutely amazing game. it is so perfectly made. 10/10.

Would be interesting if you could complete the game with her 'helping' you, like if you don't make it obvious you are trying to get away from her. Because you should 100% be able to do that while she is in yandere and not yangire mode.
Big boop
Mark - "Mostly it's me screaming."

I think that's more Jack but yeah
Definitely one the more unique enemy type for a horror game. Instead of them catching you means instant or quick death they just hurt you or capture you or mess with you.
I would like to see Mark attempt all endings. It is an entertaining game with a interesting enemy ai. Sad he didn't get the option to calm the evil side of the yandere, nor did she offer him health, unless that was patched out.
He actually did get the option to Calm once, but he didn't see it.
It is kind of amazing that this game managed to be way creepier and more unsettling in its "nobody is trying to kill you" difficulty than most horror games even come close to being.

That's because here you play the yandere's victim. Much scarier to play the victim than the attacker. 🤣
