That looks good on you. I have a buffalo felt Stetson i use for work. It’s a light brown color. It’s all dirty, stained and looking rough. 😄 I’ve been wanting a cattleman type and I saw your video. The one I have is more flat. So I went ahead and the powder river.
It sounds like you have made good use of your hat over time! I hope you enjoy the Powder River hat. I'm wearing mine whenever I get the chance and have received many compliments.
I believe Stetson exclusively makes R ovals now, you can find the same quality in Resistol if long oval fits you better. They are both owned by Hatco. A pinch front crown allows your head to sit deeper, although you can get a taller cattleman crown or shape some “cutter bumps” into the sides to help sit the hat down a little further.
Thanks for the information. I'll check out Resistol also. One of my other hats is an Atwood long oval with a cattleman crown. Even though the hat is a 7 5/8" it fits like a bigger hat (which is why I think a long oval fits me better) except it is not very deep. The pinch front hat I have is a crushable style and it fits lower on my head like I prefer. I've actually been looking at getting the Stetson Drifter hat which is a pinch front. Thanks for commenting!
Thanks for the information. I've viewed other videos on hat shaping and may venture into it at some point. I really like Dwayne's videos. He gives some good advice and things to think about.
If you want to flatten the brim, then you can hit it with steam & then press it down on a flat surface or you can iron it, again on a flat, hard surface with a damp cloth over the felt. You can also tweak the crown using steam, such as shallowing the side dents to get more head room inside if needed.
Thanks for the tips! I may try them as I continue to use the hat. I know very little about hat shaping and have never attempted it before. New the hat is VERY stiff. As I have been wearing it the fit is getting a better to my head. I have added a feather in the hat band I found while walking in the woods and I'm liking it so far! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great taste in hats, I got the same one a year ago 😉 Love it but just like you I wish it was a bit deeper and long oval is what fits me best. It does make quite a difference. I have a Bailey hat in long oval and comfort is superior. It’s the kind of things people don’t necessarily know about hats but it’s day and night. A regular oval hat on a long oval head creates gaps on the sides of the head and you can rock the hat. Strong side wind and it feels like you’re going to lose your hat still leaves you some marks on your forehead. I’ll wear this Stetson until it falls apart but then I’ll go Resistol, American or some other brand offering long oval and I’ll upgrade to beaver fur.
Appreciate the comments. I have an Atwood hat that is a long oval, but its a straw. I don't know if they have any fur hats in long oval. Thanks for watching!
@@dia_guys I heard good things about Atwood. From their website, they seem to have a good selection of different felt hats, different blend, rabbit, wool and beaver but no mention regarding head shape as far as I can tell.
Thanks. I have not used leather conditioner on the sweat band, though it would make sense that a conditioner would make sure the sweat band stays in good shape.
Yes. Thanks for asking. It is really starting to conform to my head. The hat is really good quality and I have received several positive comments. I am really enjoying wearing it. I also found out another advantage of the up swept brim on the front. I think it really helps with preventing the hat from blowing off in a stiff wind. I was in a breezy place and the hat stayed firmly on my head. If the brim was flatter, I think it would have blown off. Thanks for watching and commenting!
It’s an amazing hat but I could never get it in my size. I usually wear a 7 1/8 long oval. In an oval I wear a 7 1/4. I tried this hat on in 7 1/8 and it was way too small. I tried a 7 1/4 and it was way too big. I had to return the hat and just admire it from a far.
I have to try several hats of the same size to find one that fits. If you got for a “higher quality” Stetson the sizes usually are more consistent. This is just in my experience.
I hope you like it. I'm ready for the weather to get cooler so I can start to wear it again. Right now I'm still wearing my straw hats. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Comment below with your thoughts on crown style. Do you like the cattleman or do you prefer the pinch front. How about the gus, is that your favorite? Let me know below! Also, do you have this hat? How do you like it?
Nice hat. Have you come across the Carnivore Diet ? This is something that really helped me. Check out Dr Shawn Baker, Dr Ken Berry and Dr Anthony Chaffee. I wish you good health and prosperity. Merry Xmas :-)
I was looking at getting a straw hat called "Stetson & Dobbs". I ended up not getting the hat, but I liked the crown (I may still get it). The crown looked more square that a traditional cattleman crown and appeared that it may have more room inside the hat. I just looked on Amazon just now and the Dobbs name is not on the hat anymore. It says Stetson only. Thanks for commenting!
Thanks for the advice. Right now it feels so stiff it's hard to imagine it will get deformed, but over time I can see how that could happen. My natural inclination is to put it on using the crown. I'm also not sure about wearing it in the rain. Do you have any advice or experience with that?
My wife today bought this exact hat for me.....looks good and feels great...love the hat.
Thank you for your video
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Checkout my new hat video if you have the chance.
Great looking hat!
Thanks! Did you get one?

@@dia_guysthank you for the video! It’s a sweet looking hat!
Dry Creek Wrangler School has a video on how he shapes his hats. I don't recall the title, but it had some great tips that I was not familiar with.

I've been happy with my Atwood straw hat. I think I've had it for around 8 years. I hope you continue to enjoy your Stetson Powder River.
@@dia_guys Thank you, you too.
Looks like it was made for you, nice hat!
Thanks. I'm really enjoying wearing the hat. I think the more I wear it the better it fits. Thanks for commenting!
Sweet review & thanks for close up. Just purchased one
Thanks for the comment! I Hope you like it! I wore mine some today.
Have this same hat for about 1 year already and its built like a tank.
That's great! Hopefully I get good service from it. too. Holding and wearing the hat, it does feel very good quality.

Nice hat
Thanks!
I agree with you. The sides need to come down a little
Thanks for the comment. I checked out your channel and subscribed. Hiking is another activity I enjoy quite a bit. Happy hiking!

I picket it up for $160 on Amazon. I checked other websites and they were all around this cost.
Thanks for watching!
looks on you❤
Thanks!
Looks fantastic. You havent uploaded for a while, i hope your doing fine.
All good here. Thanks for asking. I have another hat I want to do a video on and some other video ideas. I'll upload again soon!

I prefer the Gus and then the pinch front. Cattleman is my least favorite.

Don't handle the crown. Only the brim. You'll deform it over time by handling the crown.
Protect your investment.
