It was £1.40 for an under 16 to stand on the Kop and £2.50 for an adult. The stands were a fiver. I was at this game 36 years ago and it has passed in the blink of an eye 😢
@distantvoices mostly, the atmosphere was great - especially the night matches. The Kop alone would make most of the noise, but some matches would see the entire stadium bouncing. Checkout Liverpool at home to St Etienne 1977 European Cup. Three sides of the ground had standing areas and that was a famous night for atmosphere.
I was hit in the face by that ball, it was absolutely freezing and I was just 10yrars old, I was on the railings and dalglish hit this shot that was deflected over the bar, and hit a crush barrier and rebounded into my face cos I was watching the ball, fuck me I was in pain but we won 4-0 anyway !
It was an appalling winter, even snow on xmas day if i remember. The marks are sand filling in all the holes as the ground was frozen and their was no undersoil heating.
How I wish we proper football fans could have footy like this again instead of this awful expensive pap shit that passes for football now! No diving, disrespecting the officials, stupid goal celebrations, players on 500k a week, season tickets costing thousands of pounds, weird haircuts or pink boots! Just football.
Thanks, I was out the country at this time so love the games from late 1981 to early 83
LIKE FROM ME. BAKU. AZE. THANKS TO YOU I WATCHED HIGHLIGHTS OF MATCH. THANK YOU.
That Liverpool team were household names. Even yeah Granny (who didnt even like football) knew half them players.
That Coventry kit was classic, totally underrated.
Think it was only worn when on TV as the overt advertising on the T Talbot kit was not allowed at that time!
@@JuiceTerry87 Correct. Immediately post the 'egg timer' strip, City had some dubious home strips for games that were covered on TV.

I remember I can afford only £2 on a seat at Maine Road, even I’m student or on a dole.

City only really played in April and May between 82 and 86. We produced Uefa Cup form in the last 5 games usually.
Good days when anfield was 99% local and a couple of thousand Evertonians mixed on the kop no problems.

Great memory but a sore one 😁
Love the old under soil heating on the pitch
Você tem jogos de rugby antigos?
Crikey only 28000 at a Liverpool game! Recession or no recession that's ridiculous support
Looks like a game from Roy of Rovers ....
Gr8t for whom?

2:44 OK Coventry were rubbish, but that's a bit harsh....
We were ok that season.
Martin Tyler before his brain got muddled with Sky money..
I take it Ogrizovic was still at Liverpool?
Yes. Jim Blyth and Les Sealy were our goalies in those days. Oggy signed in 1984.
And the award for Worst Corner of all Time goes to.........
jesus thats alot of cocaine on the pitch
Pink collars!! lol.
What was going on with all the white marks on the pitch?
Probably snow or ice?or salt

Sand, me thinks, it was the only thing they could put down to treat on a half frozen or soden pitch at that time.
I remember it was a long winter 81/82.. pitch must have been gone hard!
@@ianbrookes4347 it was February 1982, at Anfield.
