As a frequent British visitor to France, one of my favourite things about the country is the fact that it’s simultaneously a northern European country and a southern European country (a good way of illustrating this is noting that Dunkirk - 51.03°N - is almost on the same latitude as London - 51.51°N - whilst Perpignan - 42.69°N - is more or less on the same latitude as Rome - 41.90°N), and the food, people, architecture and general lifestyle reflect this fact. There is nothing I like better than getting a ferry to Brittany and Normandy, enjoying the Franco-Celtic green and pleasant scenery for a few days, then hopping on a TGV and 4hrs later I’m soaking up the sun, listening to the electric buzz of the cicadas, and walking among the palm trees of Nice, or Marseille, or Perpignan. The colours change to reflect the predominant skies. Paris, with its resolutely monochrome palette, knows it's a northern town. 250 miles south and you’re in Lyon, a city whose colours resemble a box of ripening peaches and with bleached red roofs reflecting the southern sun. The fact the country also borders 8 other countries makes it endlessly fascinating, as you get that Flemish vibe in Lille, a distinctly Germanic tone in Strasbourg, and that seductive Latin magnetism of Spain and Italy in Bayonne and Nice. Food, people, weather, architecture all distinctly change to a fascinating extent from region to region, city to city, village to village. In many ways, notwithstanding its strong centralism and the prevalent 21st century globalism, France feels like about 3 or 4 countries in one. For all these reasons (and more!), it’s an endlessly captivating place.
Vous avez résumé la France parfaitement

Bordeaux is my favorite French city. I love it much more than Paris.
I love France so much. I spent three months there in 2019. I visited Pau, Bordeaux (my absolute favorite), Tolousse, and many historical tiny villages in the south. My partner and I had a picnic for our anniversary in the Pyrenees Mountains by a waterfall. We spent Christmas morning exploring a walled city before returning to the farmhouse where we were staying. France is my most memorable part of being a nomad. My partner and I are going to apply for residency in France next year.

Awesome! I hate crowded touristy place so I'd probably avoid Paris and visit one of those cute sleepy towns! :D
I'm with you, its hard to beat the smaller towns hidden in the countryside! :)
You can’t avoid Paris 🤦♂️ It’s so amazing with so many beautiful monuments 🤩
Trust me, these places are crowded as well.
Well for Paris, don't fear ...BUT... you must get an hotel right in the center (in "Le Marais" would be good).....That way, Paris itself not being very big, you could WALK! just about everywhere interesting.......That how I visited Paris and that was the most enjoyable way to do it ( yes I'm from Paris but Parisians still have to"visit/explore" their home town!!!)
Les Pyrénées, le Pays Basque and l'Auvergne also worth the look :)
Yippie!!! Strasbourg is there! I Love the city. How the traditional houses look like is really beautiful! But all in all French is very enchanting country. Merci Ryan !

I am so proud to having been born in Paris and have remained French my entire life. There's so much more I want to see! Thanks Ryan, you brought back some wonderful memories.

@@charles1413 it's only the size of Texas if you think about it... but it's packed with much more diversity, which makes it feel so much bigger
@@idrk7509 I get what you saying!
@@idrk7509 And there is just not the continent France there is also the islands and territories around the world that bring a lot of diversity and wonderful places :)
Being German me and my wife (who is a french teacher) always refer to france to be a 'continent in itself'. North, south, east and west are much more different as almost all countries I have been visiting (well: maybe Germany, but this is for visitors to explore). Enjoying the cool waters at Fontaine de Vaucluse, listening to music in the gardens of Versaille, taking a ride on white horses in the Camarque (being afraid of horses) and hiking in the Massif Central are things being so different but also so 'french' ... .
From my (german) point of view there always is a central impression I have being in France: Those guys know how to enjoy life!
France is a beautiful country with multiple cultures and i will visit with family soon and I would explore all the famous places
Cap de Nice, and Cannes Pointe de I'Aiguille. Really Amazing places in France for cliff jumping and snorkeling. I can't recommend it enough : )

France really a beautifull country. good video
As an inhabitant of Brittany, I can say that the plans are well chosen, but there is so much to see that it would take a one hour video 😅 The second landscape that we can see, I would recognize it between 1000! It's not far from Cap Fréhel. Not far away, there is the campsite which was for a time the largest municipal campsite in Europe, it is a fairly "Roots" campsite without the fuss and where you can rest wherever you want.
This is amazing!! I want to see every single place in this video!‼️🤩

Wow I just started planning a trip there this summer ! I needed this
You're gonna have the time of your life!
That’s a nice top ten.
Of course, there are other places well worth a visit.
The sad thing is that, when talking about France, people ALWAYS refer to continental European France…
Go see overseas France, some places are just mind blowing, Tahiti, Neo Caledonia (maybe soon to be independant, referendum in December), Reunion, Guyane and many many others.
For those in Northern America, go check Saint Pierre et Miquelon islands, they’re right next door.
Hope Caledonia remains French. I mean they had 3 referundum and a large part of the population (in favor of staying in France) can not even vote.
You missed Corsica, the gorges of Ardeche and if you want to go to the end of things, you must see French Polynesia, Martinique, Reunion, Amazonia with Guyana etc... what makes the beauty also of France, it is its diversity of landscape and architecture. Flanders does not look at all like the Riviera. Alsace doesn't look like Brittany. This is perhaps one of the reasons why it is the most visited country in the world.

Great selection - you're certainly a connaisseur :)
Places I would have put from my list:
- Rocamadour
- Aix en Provence may be the most beautiful city center ever.
- Corsica Island has often been presented to me as the "most beautiful trek site in the world". Haven't been there myself.
- there are typically hidden gems everywhere in France. I have soft spot for Dordogne"s troglodyte cave used from Neanderthals to medieval history as well as crazy medieval cities like Sarlat.

Another awesome video with stoning scenic pictures. I thought you would not mention the wonderful Côte d'Azur in South France, but the coast was there, in the end. I already know some of these places, specially those towns in Alsacia.
