For anyone unfamiliar, this series revolves around 1 character who infamously almost always starts the game from a ship crash. The first game was released in 1987. The developer, Nihon Falcom is one of the oldest devs and pioneers of JRPG genre itself and also made the Trails series. They're not very well off financially or in terms of team size which is why these games look "dated". Falcom have one of the best music teams if you listen to all their games' OSTs. Ys series always have amazing boss fights, characters, lore and music.
Of course they are not doing well financially, they hold games for a long time in Japan. Their games are released 1 or 2 years later in the West, that is a problem. It's time to see the YS franchise in west ON LAUNCH.
“Not well financially” seems more like a choice rather than consequence for Falcom. They show no interest to grow company size or taking on bigger project that need more investment. Their financial report also seems to be forever in green.
So many comments of shere idiocy here, clearly are not highly familiar with the way falcom does the Ys series been playing for years looking forward to this dont care about it been a party of two tbh these games are always enjoyable

No, this game was designed to be a dual protagonist game, being on the switch has nothing to do with it, when Xenoblade games with a ton of party members exist.
