Just for reference MHA is a good group to donate to. Less than 7¢ of every dollar goes to overhead (running website and paying staff) while 93¢ goes towards helping those with mental illnesses. This money is spent helping people get diagnosed, getting people treatments, creating advocacy groups, and supporting local medical services with resources. MHA discloses 100% of it's funding and where it uses the money. Hope this helps you be more informed.

I wouldn't even call it a roast. To me, that term evokes a kind of friendly insult among friends. Or a staged event. Either way, the intent is very much for the subject to laugh along with everyone. And everyone involved has a sense of what's fine to joke about or what's off limits.

Hahaha, it wasn't a few days later, it was a few *hours* later. He got like over 100 commissions before he had to close it as he was already overwhelmed. He also threw up stickers, but those also sold out in less than 6 hours.

About how much JoCat cares about his community: He asked on patreon what people think about raising prices 1$ to help him in this difficult times: The response was 99% positive but he still put out a post 10 min later, basically saying he can´t get himself to do it.
It is anti-community to refuse to accept help. it is paternalistic and nothing more than a symptom of capitalism-induced trauma.
It is nothing to celebrate, but rather should be recognized for the obvious self-harm it is.
Refusing to let people take full responsibility for how they want to help you and ensuring that it must always remain transactional is a good way to feel so isolated to begin with that when you get hatemobbed you feel so alone that you just step away from content altogether.
workaholism and self flagelation are not admirable, they are tragic, and those who care for JoCat should always say as much.

His episode of the GG podcast was also really great. I have lost count how many times i have eatched his Crap Guides and other videos. It's always great to see him when he pops up. And his OF might be the first one i actually try out as i cant get enough mini painting videos!

I had just gotten back into DnD after 25 years away and stumbled onto Jo Cat's Crap Guide to DnD and proceeded to laugh my tail off. The man is awesome and deserves every bit of support he gets. Things like his Crap Guide to DnD, DnD Shorts, and Critical Role's Handbooker Helper really helped me learn 5E and reinvigorated my love for the game. My deepest and sincerest thanks for all the content that both makes me smile and sparks my imagination

He made 'A Crap Guide to D&D' videos which were funny and educational videos about D&D classes nearly a decade ago. They really helped shape the foundation of youtubes D&D content. He is a great guy and real genuine. Got scared off the platform by internet bullies harrassing him and his family. :c

To explain exactly what drove him away, during a BG3 stream forever ago he sung a parody of a verse from Lizzo's song Boys. Basically he sung about how all types of women are beautiful. Eventually it was animated and uploaded as "I Like Girls" on his channel.
Then as the other commenter pointed out, Twitter happened. He was attacked, harassed, all of that stuff because the song is "disgusting" and "misogynistic" and whatever else Twitter threw out just to have an excuse. It was frankly terrible to see.

It was Jocats crap guides that helped me understand character sheets, classes, and races. I watched his dnd game and his videos.
His goblin videos would make me laugh after a long day of work. His songs and cameos with other dnd youtubers was enjoyable.
I still listen to his I like girls which I am still convinced he made so he could be in a video with all his Waifus lol.

JoCat videos helped me and my sons understand DnD through their JoCrap-guides. My youngest 2 love the animated video’s and would watch them over and over again. It has affected my entire family in such a positive way, I will always support JoCat.

the first videos of his i watched was the ffxiv classes years ago, then his dnd ones. i’ve always appreciated his videos and how silly yet on point everything was. i hope he’ll be able to come back and do things he likes again, what happened was bs and i feel so sorry those people drove him to leaving.

@@wildstorm3486 thankyou! And yes it is. I have some needs now that aren't being met, same as with most people. But the thing I was refering to here made a massive difference early on. I was completely stuck in my brain all the time during my teens and for some complicated reasons really unkeen to engage in any exercise at all. But they got me into martial arts, and encouraged me with my songwriting. Eventually dabbled in roller derby and got majorly into pro wrestling, and that was all started with the support and encouragement to engage with my physically active side. Very important to have a balance between physical and mental, and I didn't get that before then.
Holy crap... At first I was laughing but then tears. I mean... I ADORE JoCat as a person and would honestly give him a huge hug if I could. As someone who also struggles with mental health issues I felt that in my soul hearing his kind words at the end. @@user-sm4mi8ug9q from what I've seen a lot of it is from the I like girls video saying he "sounds gay" and from the video where he talks about supporting trans rights there's a lot of hate for that video

Afaik..it were the pro LGBTQ "activists" (who tend to be toxic and hateful), just because jocst had straight preferences.
funnily it wasn't the anti trans that caused him to leave. it was the LGBTQ+ that got mad at him "semxulizing women" in the "I like girls" animation that did it. dude went to bat for a group of people who tossed him under the bus. the anti trans just jumped on this bandwagon because they were already mad at him for some of the absolute foot in mouth dumb tweets he said during the whole hoggyworts fiasco.
In my personal opinion finding a game module and running it as a GM is a great way to start, but also finding a party online via roll20 for instance. Though I've gmed for years my next campaign I am scared to run

Thank you for all of the work you do both for the D&D community and for the charity championing. Funnily enough, I turned to Mind when I was experiencing some truly dark times and they helped me still be around today to write this message.
Fast forward a couple of years and I'm about to start my first ever D&D campaign (as a DM) with some friends and I've made plenty of notes from watching your videos that I hope will see me through and make the games more exciting for the players. Cheers!! :D
