- Stump grinding a Catalpa tree. been grinding since 2009 and this is the first Catalpa tree. Mother Nature broke it, home owner cut it the rest of the way down and a friend tried to dig it out with a backhoe with very little success. We got it though!!
Catalpa will out last oak every time. It's almost as resistant to rot as locust. It's a VERY soft wood, but it's oil is very flammable. Burns super fast and bright. It's great for outdoor furniture.
Never knew that existed but the sc362 did amazing as usual
We get it every now and then from the tree guys . Sure is stringy stuff
Have lived here in Ohio for over 50 years and this is the first time I've heard of a Catalpa tree. Had to do a search on it
Catalpa trees are deciduous ornamental shade trees with large, heart-shaped leaves, white or yellow fragrant flowers, and long dangling seed pods. Trees in the genus Catalpa are native to North America. The two most common species are the southern catalpa (Catalpa bignonioides) and the northern catalpa (Catalpa speciosa). Catalpa trees are also the food source for catalpa worms.
Hey yall , I have never heard of that tree before out alone trying to pronounce its name . 😂👍🏻🇺🇸
Now I have to Google that tree and see what it looked like.
We use to have tons of catalpha trees at my parents farm, all gone now and haven’t seen a catalpha tree for years. In the summer months they have big leaves and would have tons of worms on them, people always use to stop by and take a bucket of worms for fishing. Good work on the grind!
Thank you, that's my first one since I've been grinding. Always heard of them but don't really know of any others around here.
Great tool those Vermeer stump grinders. Rented one years ago to do a bunch of popular stumps in my yard. Did a great job.
Have a great day and I’m subscribed. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
@noelstractors-firewood57 Thank you very much, I found you from Rick's Outdoors.
Catalpa tree stumps if left there will last a very long time. There is an unofficial competition between an Oak stump and a Catalpa stump that were cut down in 2007 and neither one has yet to give...and the Catalpa is hollow.
I also want to say that they are great to have around for shade and provide the best fishing bait.
