Could you explain for a newbie what you do when the enemy pops up in your dscan in a small site, what buttons do you actually press to engage? orbit at range (keep spamming?) dependent on enemy, afterburner (leave on?), dual web (leave on?), and fire rockets pretty much it?

On the topic of choosing to tank hull instead of armor (or, more generally, to tank X instead of Y) -- and with the Kestrel VS Kestrel fight as an example, where once the target was down to hull they just melted -- assuming a buffer fit including Damage Control: isn't it always best to tank hull, because that's where the highest resists are, across the board?
Armor rigs give more ehp than hull overall, but you are vulnerable to explosive damage. Hull has slightly less overall but no resist holes. Armor rigs slow your ship down and make you take more damage from missiles/slightly harder to control range. Hull doesn't slow you down but impedes cargo space, which is a non-issue for frigate 1v1s.

His ancillary armor repper was holding up - while it still had charges. But the dual webs let you get in a tight orbit and together with the low sig radius from armor tanking lets you get under his guns.

It depends as while you get good resist across the board some ships have a very low amount of hull tank and it's not wirth doing.
