When I left, I was very cautious for a long time. I felt like the robot in Short Circuit & needed "input! input!" I set about educating myself & the journey is really very fulfilling & I figured out who I am inside. A responsible person who can make decisions that work. WT takes that ability away. People end up not having a conscience at all, as they have to do what they are told "whether it makes since from a human standpoint...or not."

I could not say what you said regarding WT effects on us any better than how you put it! 👍

One thing I've come to realize, and i think about it every time someone says "JWs are nice people" ...
Yes, some are, but the religion creates cover for really bad people too. Bad people can behave badly and if you call them on it they hide behind the "do the Christian thing and forgive and forget" and if you don't they get to feel righteous and look down on whomever doesn't play along.

Yes, that's it, some are very nice people and are mislead, and some are straight up evil

Great advice you both! Hey, I was thinking why that guy went to the church, and the minute he heard the pastor mention the Trinity, I bet this is partly why: Watchtower made the Trinity out to be “demonic” and they would describe it like a 3 headed God/being. So, first exjws have to realize that when going into a church, God isn’t going to “strike you down” (“Babylon the Great”) lol then exJWs need to hear the definition of the Trinity, and see how, just because the word “Trinity” is not mentioned in the bible, the ideas pointing to that description are. That is another thing that stops JWs leaving from being able to attend churches. I’m feeling like you mention, mainly counting on the bible, but I am hearing different Christian perspectives, mainly on RUclips, but I have attended a little bit of churches. I have books from different perspectives too, some were recommended from David & Vivian Espinal channel. Very good channel I enjoy. Older couple, but they read biblical and exjw books, and help with exjws that still are believing in Christ, and trying to rebuild our biblical understanding.

Good video. I was always weary of new JWs who wanted to climb to the top of the org right away. In the ex jw community, i see the same thing. Like their way of activism is the right way, and everyone else is lost and needs their leadership. Thanks!

Jws are nice people and will befriend you with the goal of becoming part of their group. When you tell them you want to be their friend but are not interested in their religion they end the freindship. They may approach you later on and try again to get you in the group.True friends practice unconditional love. They will be your friend regardless of your religion or no religion. By the you dont have to be in an organized religion to be a spiritual person.

Good assessment , that's exactly it, they are fake friends , they just pretend to be your friend and will only be your friend for real if you join

This is more like stereotypical politics /political behaviour than anything else. I could go into huge detail to underpin thiis, but basically, when you have a falling apart of an old regime/or a "revolution" it creates a vacuum in the power base and-as with ALL revolutions-it exploits the feelings of anger/injustice held by many over the old regime -and USES it to gain power for themselves-and (as in ALL revolutions) they are no better and ALWAYS worse than what they've usurped ("Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss" was a line by the Who in "Wont get Fooled Again") Easy examples-The Iranian "revolution" (backwards) in 1979, The Shar was a human rights abusing puppet of the West (note the by rote cliches) Hurrah for the revolution.....45 years on Iranian people have LESS human rights than under the Shar-particularly women and gays -than they had in 1979) The same happened in Russia-Lenin and Stalin's evil despotic regime was little better than what it replaced and even Cromwell in 17th century Britain who wanted rid of a despotic King was every bit a despot as what he replaced (And ALL had/have total control over everyone's thoughts, what they can/cant do!) The VITAL thing to do in any discontent is to STOP the politico's trying to use the discord for their own ends, Politics is the ideal breeding ground for psychopaths and sadists and religion is just the earliest form of politics (I could give you a talk about this but it's another subject for another day!)

Good discussion, my thing is, when your being forced to believe what another person says, through fear and control, as a exjw, no one is forcing you to believe what they believe, but is ok to listen, but research. And examine information, and or the Bible, and come to your own conclusions.

Yes that's it, what's what I do on my channel is just put the information out there, and people can take it or leave it. We are all smart enough to think for ourselves

As an exJW a 4th generation born-in from NYC, I've been out the organization for over 17 years. I walked away with 3 points of truth.
    1. There is a God/Creator
    2. There is a Christ that taught love.
    3. There is a Spirit.
And with those three truths I began my journey. I thought I was alone, I realized I wasn't. They were with me. I realized I knew absolutely Nothing. All we have to do is Love the Creator, Love Christ, and love others as ourselves. That is all. No matter what else you choose to believe, believe in love.

So amazing to hear as my story is similar, especially realising Jesus and Holy Spirit had been taught so wrong was a turning point for me. I have also felt the same: cared for and guided 💯

    You are not God
    But God says…
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry
Whosoever breaks one of the least commandments and teaches men so shall be called the least in the Kingdom of God
Your ways are crooked in the sight of God
    Are you beyond repentance?
