Dorothy Puente’s Murder House Remodel | The House is Innocent

- Tom and Barbara’s new house, 1462 F St. in Sacramento was the former home of infamous serial killer Dorothy Puente (Death House Landlady). Puente ran the property as a boarding house, where 7 bodies were found in her backyard.
From Director and Producer, Nicholas Coles:
“Dorothea Puente was a career criminal who lived a tragic life. She was orphaned at a young age, suffered from mental illness and abused - all experiences that can lead to a life of crime. She was in and out of jail her entire life. She married four times. Over time her crimes escalated to murder. While running a boarding house she murdered seven of her tenants and buried them in her yard. These were shadow people; people Dorothea took off the street, people that no one noticed were missing. If it wasn’t for a dogged social worker - Dorothea might never have been caught.
She wanted to be a “somebody.” She was constantly changing her name and trying to reinvent herself. She made herself into a pillar of the community - someone who attended political fundraisers, donated money to Hispanic causes and looked after the sick and homeless. But secretly she was murdering her tenants, burying their bodies in her backyard, and cashing their social security to fund an extravagant, albeit altruistic lifestyle. Everything about her and her story is full of contradictions. Dorothea maintained her innocence right until the end, even after she published “Cooking With a Serial Killer.” She died in prison in 2011 at age 82.
Tom and Barbara reinvented the house into a sunnier Sacramento landmark and brought together the community around it. This house of horrors is now filled with joy and its infamy can help other people. Since the film was finished Tom has added one more sign to the house. It says: ‘The House is Innocent.’”

“His wife died….
He has nothing to do with it “
🤣🤣🤣🤣I love them
Omg the dark humor this couple has 😆
"He had nothing to do with it"
The signs in front of the house.
The pea brain.
Their sense of humor is something else.
What a charming and hilarious couple!! They were definitely the perfect fit and chosen ones to take over this infamous house with their zany and whimsical sense of humor. They also did a wonderful job in remodeling the place
Charming and hilarious? Thats totally creepy!!
"Screw you, eHarmony!" From now on, whenever I start to fear getting older, I'm going to remember this quirky, young-at-heart couple.
Life goals 🏆
I love these couple, despite the horrific history of this house. Finally a pair of good and energetic souls have taken over this spot, just the right vibe is what that house needed.
Absolutely and it truly is best for the memories of the lives lost there. The couple are exactly who needed to bring the home back to life and pay respects for the loved ones who passed there.
I love this couple! What a great sense of humor. Way to combat the stigma with humor. I walk by the house all the time as my friend lives two blocks away. if you guys ever read this let me know what type of wine you like cuz I want to buy you a bottle. You're wonderful.
You are a wonderful person too!
They are the cutest couple. It's adorable that they met only ne and he had competition but won her heart. Id love to meet them in person their energy is contagious.i can't stop myself from smiling at the jokes they made. They turned a creepy, sad, house of horrors into a character that fits their personalities and still keeping the horrible history alive in a tasteful way. im happy it's no longer just sitting there wasting away.
I love how happy and smiley the realtor is when he brings up the murders.
Nope, that’s creepy ! I would never
Perfect video to watch right after watching the Netflix special!
Yeah, Netflix brought me here.
Yep me too
What is the Netflix show called?
@@angelfiremimosa “Worst Roommate Ever” episode 1.
Love them!!! I have zero doubt they brought peace to the kind souls there and they probably linger because it’s so beautiful, filled with love and laughter. Any home needs that, old homes love it Bc they have history, historic homes have walls and residents other than the owners who have seen times of unthinkable horror as well as beauty…the energy remains. In this case this couple healed and renewed not just for them or the physical home but for souls. It’s a beautiful thing!!!✨💫🌙
Very comical couple I love how they have turned a tragedy into something that is so interesting to lots of people. Great story
One is very glad to see that a smashing couple have taken over and have restored Dorotheas old 19th century home . Also the fact that this particular house is so famous in the world of criminology and has been written about in so many crime books and has also been documented in various tv programmes over the years . Had Barbara and Tom had not had the foresight to restore the famous local landmark then it could very well have ended up being lost forever like other historical places of interest ?. One hopes to visit it to see it in realise myself one day . Excellent work Barbara and Tom.
That is so cool that you guys bought and are living in the house. I remember watching the news as it was unfolding in real time. I must have drove by this house several thousand times over the years. It has charm.
Yes you two are wonderful...love the mosaics👍🏻RIP TO THE VICTIMS AND THE FAMILIES THAT LOST THEIR LOVED ONES TO THAT EVIL 💝
Never mind the house......I would go to meet them!! What a lovely couple! I love what they've done with it and God bless them.
They capitalized on a good deal, got a beautiful historical home, and they luckily have a good sense of humor and I think you'd have to. I'm glad it wasn't torn down, you have to be able to find something light in tragedy. This is the how we grow from pain. I live a few blocks away from the place and I'm happy there's love and light brought to a place where so many sad and terrible things happened.
I don’t think I could live in a house where people were murdered.
What about suicide?
If it was cheap but in great shape and had a big kitchen... I'm in.
GREAT VIDEO LOVE IT!!! You erased the past stigma on the home !!!!!! your right its not the houses fault it the past owner who did that all..... love the home!!!! congratulations on making it over!!!!! You both have a great sense of humour!!! cute couple!!
What an amazing couple they really have transformed this house of horror into a beautiful home full of love and humour.
I wish them well xx
This couple is amazing, such a sense of humour 👏🤣 love them 😂
Does he not remind you of Drew Carey? Like, mannerisms and humor and all. I heart them.
What a great couple. I love their sense of humor! I’d love to visit their home and meet them. I have family In Sacramento
I was living in Sacramento when all the bad went down with this house - what these people did was the absolute best and it really cracked me up. 10/10 would tour.
Okay...so we kinda wanted to hear about the ghosts.
Lol I feel guilty for laughing but theyre a cute quirky couple... slide bump slide bump has me in stitches 🤣😆😆😆🤭🤭
this couple’s dark humor makes this so entertaining 🤧💙
Arensic and old lace in real life. Couldn't have a better couple buy the house I love that guys sense of humor!
I love them but I do wish they'd pay more tribute to the victims. They deserve more recognition than that monster.
you can always do that yourself if that is what you feel needs to be done.
Having that statue of her is a little strange....
Oh my 😂 I used to drive by this house every morning on my way into work! I named it the Superman House and used it as a landmark - e.g., turn right after Superman.
Anyhow, I always thought Dorothy's house was on I Street. Lol🤦♀️
I love their dark humor,
So interesting, what a wonderful made video!
They don’t get ghosts scaring them bc they likes them 🤣
One thing is for sure, I think this was the right homeowners to help this house. The sense of humor seems to help people adjust reminding everyone that the building was, is, and will be a home. This couple obviously loves their home enough to help everyone accept that dark chapter of the house’s history shouldn’t define it. Also was nice that the detective returned back to share his part of the events that changed the house’s reputation, and was gracious to the couple.
With all the attention it should have been a coffee shop for creepy people that are curious
Ao casal ,parabens pela coragem e pela mudança.
Really well done ! Lovely couple 🤩♥️
An awesome documentary. :)
It's still that house. And will always be. Nobody forgets
“Sacramento…I dig it!” 😂😂😂😂 the couple needs to be selling those shirts. Charming couple indeed.
“screw you eharmony” i can’t breathe😂💀
Oh damn, so Tom is how I will be when I get old. NICE!
Omg telling the mother in there's a spot in the back yard 🤣😲
Well done
I really hope these two still own the house. What they've done with it is absolutely amazing. I grew up not too far from F street. I love all the old house in Sacramento. What great history. Good and bad.
They have the same morbid sense of humor😱💀
Great episode! Oh, there's a typo in video description -- street number is 1426, not 1462.
Why do I feel like this house would be haunted?
They are great!
I love the house!!
It's amazing how everyone in the neighborhood never had a Clue, & always refers to the Murderer as such a Nice Person. People Narcissist always come off as overly nice - listen to them & look beyond the Fake Niceness for they will often speak negatively against others who are really the Nice Ones.
This is the best couple ever
About six or seven years ago me and my friend Michael did tiles in the front yard,,
The souls aren't evil it's the woman that owned it but she didn't die there. Amen! God bless all the souls I am sure they went into the light!
The guy that sold her out but lied at first from the phone call had to be helping her buried them
Forreals, small old ass lady going to dig holes all day and nobody notices....
What people can't realize is that the home was built in 1890 & considered an historic part of the history and therefore can't ever be torn down. They purchased the home 22 year's later and the house had been lived in many times after Dorathea lived there. They're right, the house got a bum rap and I'm glad this couple love the home. For me it feels right to have loving people in the home and to give homage to the people who lost their lives there.
What a charming couple!
I LOVE THE "I DIG IT" SHIRT...SMH...LOL
Love them
Love this couple too! Wish they were my neighbors, well...you know what I mean!
He obsessed with the house and the story behind it.
I totally believe that little old woman would be capable of doing something like that. Nice house though!! I’d be sad to see it torn down.
I like that guy man, he has my kind of humor lol
this is the most wholesome video ive ever watched
Don't get out much, do ya.
Funny, watched this video years ago, because I love architecture. Now, matching Netflix, I remembered I've seen smtg about it. Wishing my most positive energies to this couple. Could've fimd better buyers!!!
People have a right to live where they want. But, if I was offered this house for free, I wouldn't want it.
They look like they couple from "Up"
Love the sense of humor!!
These are my kind of people! Their sense of humor is fantastic. My husband and I would certainly buy the house and renovate it. We renovated a few houses in New Orleans, but none infamous! If we didn't live many states away I would want to become friends!
Slowly have each item just disappear then have it blessed and then I would say it should completely be your house without any worries
Whats that song at the end btw 😅
What a wonderful sense of dark humor 🤣🤣🤣🤣

What I couldn’t get over is the bodies were buried in the yard!
what a lovely couple 🥰🥰
How was that little old woman able to do all that digging all by herself
Not according to poltergeist ... BUT she said "he had nothing to do with it" .. that's a keeper
Love them, such lovely people
May i come over please?! Ill bring the drinks! Just dont drug and bury me 😅
Probably reduced in price. They thought it was a good deal
I love this couple 🥰
I totally get dark humour. He should think about how the victims relatives would feel seeing this though.
If I ever owned a house that had this kinda history I’d do the same thing 😅
They rippped it all out that gets rid of the bad energy and they have no fear so there is nothing for the evil to feed off love over powers evil
Also the sign that say’s “trespassers will be drugged” that’s kind of disrespectful like come on 7 people died there because of her!? I also don’t like how they dressed the mannequin as a representation of her!!! As if they’re glorifying her in a way!?
Oh, relax.
@@barbaramattei4747 If you continue to dwell on the houses horrific past, you’ll always be within its darkness. This took place 33 years ago. It’s time for everyone, including family, to moved past it. Kudos to this couple helping the process along with some levity.
It’s called humor, try it out
Oh well Karen, that is your opinion...
Idc they def have the house decorated for clout. If a tragic & horrific murder or murders occurred at my residence I wouldn’t have a mannequin of the murderer or mock the victims that died in my house, y’all are weird !!
I live close my kids really want to go see it
Weird.
The made the best of a bad situation I think the spirits that passed away there would be happy that it's no longer a house of Horrors
How come this days 60 sec doc and it’s 12 minutes and I7 seconds? These are good videos I just don’t get it.
She did not own the house...she rented it...
I like them there cute❤️❤️❤️
People thought Dorothy was nice and cute before she caught.
Drew Carey's dad?
Kinda disrespectful
They should have burnt the house down and rebuild it
Any updates?
Updates? Was something supposed to happen?
I guess the world could use some more happy weirdos
They are the cutest couple!! I would love to meet them.
Hello, was hoping to find out how we could possibly get in contact with the Williams I have a proposal for them. Is there any way you can help us out?
Well you’ve got their address so you could mail them a letter 🤷🏻♀️
