I'm definitely in the camp of failing to plan is planning to fail so i suppose that I'm an engineer. Surely anyone using a tripod fall into the engineer category, especially if its mated with a geared head! I'm certainly not a spray and pray guy and I seem to get more into the engineer mode once I get the images on screen. Then I notice the little imperfections that I wished id seen in the field. Enjoyed you video especially the image at about 17.30, a coloured tree surrounded by bare leafed ones.
Very entertaining and some very valid points raised , i guess i can be either at times . Some nice images in the video to mate , enjoyed that one a lot !
A very funny and interesting video Steve, love the characters mate, I would say I am the artistic photographer, but I find that I am becoming also the engineer with help from yourself ,thanks mate.
Good one Steve, really enjoyed that one. For me, it's hard putting away the 40+ years of software engineering mind set where I needed to be both 'creative' to come up with innovative solutions but also hyper sensitive to even the smallest flaw that would prevent a system working perfectly. Of course, 'creative' and 'artistic' are not the same thing and the artistic side is what I am having to work on the most as I now have the time to go out and shoot more. I would like to think I am progressing more towards the middle but it's taking a lot of time and practice!
Your best video to date! Really well put together! I'd initially placed myself in the engineer camp, which to a large degree I think I still am, but there is a sprinkling of the artistic side too.. so many Im more in between. I agree I don't think any single one is better than the other. As long as you're out enjoying yourself, that's all that really matters.
I'm an e. guy (on the multiple choice test) - "all of the above". Both technical and artistic, depending on lighting, subject, and, of course, my mood. Great video.
I’m definitely more in the artist category. As I’m more a hiker who takes photos than the other way around, it’s all about exploring and seeing what unfolds than spending hours in one place. I hate tripods too and only use them when it’s absolutely necessary which probably makes me as far away from an engineer as you can get 😂. Enjoyed that one Steve
@ yep, although there’s definitely advantages and disadvantages to both approaches. I know if I slowed down at times and became more methodical I would have improved on some of the images I’ve taken. It’s all about finding your own style and more importantly enjoying it 👍
The video was thoughtfully crafted, and I appreciated the insightful question raised. It highlighted the topic effectively. I found it entertaining and funny, and the beautiful images added a lovely touch. Thank you for sharing, mate, such a great piece! 👏👏👏
I’m definitely in the third group (I think). Not sure anyone is really one or the other but some definitely lean one way. In which case maybe I’m more engineer. Great video, enjoyed it
Very Good , well observed, and presented. The only thing that makes me stop and think is you produced this after we were out with you on the chase. Now I wonder 🤣🤣🤣. I think we are going to have to select our headgear more carefully in future though
I'd say you're a hybrid, most are, but I've definitely seen both extremes, interesting video to point them out. Me? By trade I'm literally a specialist camera engineer, so tend to go that way, but I think my style is often best described as the "Can't be arsed" style.
Haha. I think I'm somewhere in the middle. Kind of. I generally just go if and when I can, with zero planning, but I take time to take a shot, for what that's worth... so somewhere in the middle?
" Tech or Art "...Chuckled at the thought. I am a little of both. Tech as far as which lens. My pet lens is 35mm. Or close ...The art...Looking for a composition that, when seen, by someone. Would want to go that place. Like how the " curve" or an " s " creates interest. When I was young , I would always wonder , upon seeing a road go up and over a hill. Would want to see what was there.
You have a screw type head for micro adjustments instead of a ball head. You definitely lean towards the engineering side. I tend to be more on the artist side, and work at being more of an engineer for better compositions, which is odd, because I’m an engineer/architect by trade.
I am beginning to worry about RUclipsrs! you all seem to be going deeper into the unknown, but I will answer your question I have always been into the arts right from a young age and I enjoy doing things but that's as far as it goes! photo pictures can be classed as an art form of a kind its all according what you final print or final digital image turns out like! Now composing pictures is an art form. In you case you are a RUclipsr who does photography. Now that's not really answering your question is it? Thank you for this weeks quiz, which I am not very good at....take care.......
