A half lined coat isn't necessarily bad and like she said they at least binded the seams which does take time to do and elevates the finishing, plus seam binding helps to protect the edges on the seam and looks nicer than just serging. Fully lining clothing is only a "modern" sewing technique as people use to wear a slip or a shift under their clothes to protect the fashion fabric from the body.

A good wool coat is, as far as im concerned, worth it's weight in gold. I have a mohair coat inherited from my father... who inherited it from *his* father. It's at least fifty years old and you can't tell at all from the shell. I do need to get the lining fixed, and the pockets, and probably the buttons before one falls of by itself, but they're all relatively easy fixes or so says the local tailor, and I'd be shocked if after so long none of that was true. The coat itself is basically in perfect condition.
Invest in your wardrobe, be discerning, treat it well (eg, coat drycleaned before it's put away for the summer, every year) and it will last you.

Thank you for exposing trash vs treasure. So much of what is manufactured for women is overpriced and junk! It's not as bad for men's garments.
Men look at the price first, then decide to look at the garment. It's common to hear, "I'm not paying that much for a shirt, pair of pants, socks, etc." before examining the garment.
I researched marketing for a paper on men versus women in mid-level retail stores. The differences were apparent for the average buyer.
I was shocked at how many women walked over, examined the garment and materials, decided to buy or not, and then looked at the price.
Men, on the other hand, first glanced at the signage price and either stopped or kept walking. Then they looked at the tag (price), moved on, or continued. Then, the style (button/no button, sleeve length, material (itchy or not), color, and size.
My conclusion was both groups make purchases but usually not with sound rationale.

I personally don’t think it’s worth 400 dollar for how thin it is I found a 400 dollar leather trench coat for 10 dollars in a rich neighborhood at a garage sale and it’s very nice from the brand Danier I’m not really familiar with the brand but I think it’s a lot better then this I find brands are purposely making clothing thinner so it gets ruined quickly and we have to buy new ones it feels like a big scam to make us spend more and consume more I love when I find a good quality peice of clothes in this economy it feels like a gift that’s why I usually shop at thrift stores even though they don’t have the best affect on the environment either but I’ve found some decent things that make me feel comfortable so it’s my wardrobe now and whatever I don’t like I give to people who need clothes or sometime I get creative and try to diy stuff

Can someone please elaborate on the importance of having the coat fully lined instead of half?

400$ for a partially lined wool trench is not worth it. Pay attention to what companies sell similar products for on sale. THAT'S the actual price of the jacket, they will always still make money even on 90% off products.

Ugh working retail and finding out the true quality of supposed “more expensive” brands being super disappointing… i now take 3 times longer to shop to look through materials and every stitch and seam lol

lol people here say its worth because its wool.
Wool is so cheap that its impossible for any small or medium scale farmer to mske any money out of wool production.
    Don't fool yourself

It’s a nice coat, but I got a nice wool coat for less than half that price from some random old people brand. Also a nice classy silhouette, fully lined and well made. So absolutely not worth 400$.

yeah no, just because someone put more effort into something than an automated process in a factory using cheap plastic bs does doesn't mean it's worth as much as a month rent, it should be 40 dollars at the absolute most

As a person who thinks about the poor a lot, I just can't even sort of bring myself to say that because it's good quality it's worth $400. Like what is the poor supposed to wear, plastic bags? The coat is worth more than some people and that makes me want to cry. Why do we have to measure people's worth with money? Like, no you can't have good health, food, clothing, or housing, you don't have enough worth tokens. *Gags* It makes me feel hopeless and nauseous.
