I'm not religious but I love this song. Wakeman's piano is so beautiful. And the message of being grateful to experience a new day is important for everyone, no matter what you believe in.

This is the most beautiful rendition of the Anglican hymn, Morning Has Broken, written by English author Eleanor Farjeon in 1931.

A Christian hymn (Anglican, specifically) being sung by a Muslim man. Grace and praise, indeed.

Not at all. He did not convert until 1977, over half a decade after this was recorded.

thanks! during the early 1970's writers and musicians were producing work with great depth and intensity. I know you've seen this yourself from your excursions down the rabbit hole! thanks!

Cat Stevens' song "The Wind" is about as beautiful of a less than 2 minute song you'll ever hear. It was in the movie "Almost Famous."

Great reaction as usual! Many of my friends have commented that you seem disconnected from your viewers. Speak slower and feature songs that have a video. These two changes will serve you well! Respect & support!

We used to sing this when we went to a folk mass in the 70s.
Others were bridge over troubled water and Carole King - you’ve got a friend.
    Love the reaction

Two of the male singer/songwriters in the 1970s with a whole like of female fans were Cat Stevens and Jackson Browne. Handsome, talented, and sensitive. Always an attractive combination.

You are one of the most thoughtful, respectful reactors to the great music of the last 60 years and your analysis of "Morning Has Broken" does not disappoint. For yourself and for your listeners I highly recommend you listen to and react to what is arguably Cat Stevens' most hauntingly beautiful song: "Sad Lisa." Anyone who hears this tune cannot get it out of their minds and the melody will remain with you forever. In a good way.. Enjoy!

I was wondering if anybody was going to get around to Cat Stevens
    Morning Has Broken
    on the
    Peace Train
Have always been a fan of Rick Wakeman ( on piano) also. And not just when he was with Yes. He has a major solo career.
Like Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Phantom of the Opera.
Always thought of Wakeman and Emerson as the two of the best keyboardist of the time.
Only seen Rick Wakeman perform once. He was a surprise guest add a Kansas concert.
    Emerson Lake and Palmer (ELP)
    Karn Evil 9
    🚜🤠🐂

This was our first clue that Cat Stevens would become one of the most well known Muslims in the world (now named Yusuf Islam). He converted in 1977. He has also sold 100 million records.

I have a weekend wake up play list. Only 20 or songs. This is on that playlist.
Cat Stevens has one of those voices and writes songs that never fail to fill my heart with warmth.

Lots of great Cat Stevens songs. This has Rick Wakeman (from Yes) playing piano, and is a cover of a hymn. Cat is a great songwriter, most of his songs are not covers. He was a key figure in the first wave of “Singer-songwriters” in the late 60’s. He’s got an interesting personal story, and stepped away from the music industry for decades, right at the peak of his popularity.

Such a beautiful song! Have always loved Cat Stevens' music. Great singer songwriter with a very unique sounding voice. One of my first albums I ever bought was his "Tea For The Tillerman" (1970). The whole album is great. So is the album "Teaser & The Firecat". He has had so many great songs in his career such as "Matthew & Son", "The First Cut Is The Deepest", "Oh Very Young", "Wild World", "Moonshadow", "Father & Son", "Peace Train" etc. He is still recording & performing live & his voice still sounds great.
