    Personally, I wouldn’t build/buy an AR-9 without a bolt hold open. I’ve had issues with Metalform mags, but all my Duramags have been flawless. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

    Love your work. I've watched every video. I have a question. I have multiple SBR's so I can run whatever stock I want. Have you ever tried the KynShot rifle buffer plus one weight? That would be about 10 ounces. I notice my non 9mm SBR's are a LOT more controllable with a rifle buffer system.

    I bought a few B.A.D. Bolt Catch and found out it wouldn’t work on my Aero EPC-9 before this video was up. It is due to the hole they drill on the bolt catch that interferes with the LRBHO mechanism. Well I am gonna get JB Weld and cover that hole and hopefully it fixes the problem and still looks pretty.

    Magpul PMAGs don’t work well with the Aero EPC9 LRBHO the slot on the magazine is a bit loose compared to genuine Glock mags the bolt won’t hold open unless you push the empty magazine up while pulling the charging handle. I just found that out today after finally got the rifle assembled. I guess it’s time for me to try bending the wire

    Thanks for sharing the different ways to activate the LRBHO. You do a great job explaining how these systems work. Of the styles used with Glock magazines, what System do you prefer between Spikes, Areo and Foxtrot Mike?

    • @Blowback9
      @Blowback9  4 месяца назад

      Honestly, I don't have any preference as long as it works reliably!

    I had an issue where I thought my Aero-style LRBHO was prematurely engaging but it was actually just because there was a lump of cerakote preventing the bolt catch plunger from moving outward and pushing the bolt catch into resting state. So it was the recoil that was causing the bolt catch to rattle into "catch' position. I scratched off the cerakote and the plunger was able to move in and out normally.

    Question for ya, i always see people recommending PCC trigger systems.
    With your gentle recoil system, have you had issues with non PCC triggers/pins?
    I'm using the Geissele SD-E triggers on my 2 AR 9mm's, with your gentle recoil buffer setup. Several k rounds with no issues yet.
    I'm wondering if by slowing the mechanism down with the extra weight, will help stuff live longer.

      I have 3 Aim Surplus SSTAT triggers in my 9mm AR lowers and they're holding up very well. One is several years old now.

      @dchopperx. I think your spot on by slowing the bolt down with a lighter spring and added bolt weight.

    What would be the issue if the LRBH is consistently engaging with 1 round remaining in the magazine? No feed issues, I can tell, seeing that pushing the bolt release feeds the last round 100% of the time, then the LRBH seats again once fired.

    • @Blowback9
      @Blowback9  2 месяца назад +1

      I would suspect it's an adjustment issue with the LRBHO. My Aero upper was activating the LRBHO too early and I had to bend it. Not enough to lock the bolt back - just enough to cause the follower to dip and resulted in a feed jam.

    Another option is to use lightened bolt catch spring like the one available from Catch22.

      I have tuned both my 9mm lowers by doing that, taking a few threads off the factory bolt catch spring. I hate how finicky the Lrbho is between various magazine sizes. Sometimes my 33rd mags don't activate it, sometimes my 17rd mags don't.

    Weak ammo and a strong recoil spring is a problem.

      @@Blowback9 I got my FT M45 lower back yesterday. The defect was as I suspected. The two parts that control the system - mag lifter and bolt stop were both replaced. The originals had an awful polymer coating. Surface was dimpled. The new parts have the smooth finish like my FT M9. Of interest is the buffer and buffer tube. The tube is longer like the Just Right tube. The buffer is very heavy. The stock trigger is not too bad. The blade is straight. Not as good as the CMC 2.5lb though. I will shoot it today. I use the Maxim in my M9 and other .45 lower. I did get the New Frontier upper LRBHO to function 100% of the time with both Glock 13 round OEM and 26 round aftermarket mags. IMO the FTM is a better system. BTW I would like to see you retest the different buffer systems using the same length barrel. Use some 147 gr subsonic 9mm. I reload using a 160 gr 9mm bullet. I have tried the KynSHOT hydraulic buffer with and without added weights and the KAK K-Spec. I still find the Maxim to be the best. I can't justify the cost of the Scheel system - $350.

    Nice presentation!
    Here is a good video on the FM9 LRBHO ruclips.net/video/vptUNjZ2gRw/видео.htmlsi=vwXqorAWfSIhpu99
    The best way to ensure the FM9 LRBHO is properly adjusted is to make sure the set screw is snug on the flat spot on the OP rod.
    As for the EPC9 LRBHO the best thing to do is replace the rod with the NFA rod. Its stronger, has better geometry, and usually doesn't require any adjustment at all!

    • @Blowback9
      @Blowback9  4 месяца назад
