Megalodon Wouldn't Defeat Modern Whales, Here's Why

  • The Megalodon was the biggest shark to ever live and the largest predator in Earth's history. It could swallow a small car without it even touching its teeth - if cars had been around then. Scientists believe the Megalodon didn't look like a white shark: the ancestors of today's Great White existed at the same time as the Meg. Only around 80% of the ocean has been explored, so who knows what's lurking at the bottom? The Kraken, a colossal squid with powerful tentacles, could be hiding there along with the Meg.

The crazy thing is that 5% is really big but their is still more we still don’t know so in the future we know a lot more on space but we don’t know much about the sea so my theory is that in the future their gonna do something to figure out more things about the sea

Changing ocean temperature may have altered the environment. This would have killed off the food chain leading the survivors to adapt. I wouldn't blame Great White I'm sure there were carnivorous whales and dolphins that put pressure on juvenile megalodons.

    1. Megalodon (Otodus megalodon) has NOTHING in common with a Sand tiger shark (Carcharias taurus).
    2. There is NO proof of the Great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) being a better hunter and eating Megalodon pups (not very small to begin with). Great white shark being EXTANT, does not prove anything. Numerous sharks species are EXTANT, this does not prove anything. In fact, genus Carcharias is one of the longest lasting in geological timeline but its members did not evolve to hunt big game like genus Otodus, not even close. Genus carcharias could adapt to numerous conditions on the other hand.
    3. It is NOT possible for any shark species to STEAL food of another shark species, this is FAULTY assumption. Megalodon was eating virtually ANY organism including other sharks - this inference is based on isotopic analysis of shark teeth.
    4. Modern whales emerged in the Miocene and Megalodon preyed on them. This was not a problem.
    5. Megalodon EXTINCTION is NOT SETTLED in terms of "WHEN." There are some records which indicate presence in Late Pliocene timeline. However, GLOBAL COOLING coupled with ongoing tectonic activity and sea-level oscillations caused numerous extinctions and ruined numerous neritic habitats that could help sustain Megalodon population bases.
    6. Kraken is a MYTH that drew inspiration from giant squids.
